Oak Park Place

To be real honest they are in some ways the same as everyone else - struggle with staffing - turn over issues - the people are fine and seam to treat their clients well - they treat me fine and are helpful when needed - so I rated them a 4 mainly due to their shortage of personnel and turnover issues but I see that as an industry issue vs them specifically

Oak Park Place is very close to my home. Within walking distance. My only concern was staff turnover, never knowing who was on duty, inconsistent wearing name tags and lack of communication from staff at times.

It has been great for my mom - this is the first place she has settled into - I highly recommend it. We would give the overall experience a 4.5, and that is because nothing is perfect.

They did pretty good overall considering the pandemic. Dad liked the food and seemed quite content at OAK Park Place. My only complaint, a serious problem, was his medications. The staff dispensing it wasn't really qualified, IMHO. Dad was in assisted living. Unfortunately he passed away in November 2022. One of his medications required a blood pressure check before giving it to him, I don't think they were doing that. It may have contributed to his hospitalization and death. The dispensing of medications is a very serious undertaking. I don't think Iowa has any regulations regarding this in assisted living settings.

It is a very nice facility and very clean. They are adding more activities which is great. The room sizes in memory care are great. I feel my mother in law's room is quite large comparatively speaking.

The staff is nice. Always answers questions, attention to the resident. They are really good. I would recommend Oak Park Place Burlington to others looking.

We are very pleased at the facility. We had no idea what to expect, but I have heard bad things about other places and have not found any problems here at all. People are very friendly and it was the best thing we could do to move here. Hope that helps.

I really thought the workers were great with the residents. Loving even. Her room was always out of Toilet Paper and Paper towels. The toilet was grossly dirty most of the time and the floor was seldom vacuumed. The dining room and common area always looked good. It was just her room was very bad and she was barely ever in there except to sleep.

I am very sure that working on a memory care unit is extremely difficult for staff. Staff have to be mind readers with the patience of a saint when dealing with folks with dementia who can be violent, angry, incontinent, non verbal, etc. In my opinion, therefore, staff should communicate with family members more than they do. This lack of communication would be my main complaint. Staff are often folks I have never seen before and I never know who is in charge. In the long run, however, I think they do the best they can.

They adjusted the amount of food dad was given, based on his eating patterns, always making sure he had enough and on days he didn't eat, made sure he had plenty of snacks in his room to nibble on, and when his appetite increased, they increase the amount of his servings. They had wonderful musicians they brought in, and daily exercise groups, news groups, crafts, etc. when dad could no longer attend activities. They would bring him music tapes, movies, books, and even snacks, and would take the time to visit with him several times a day.

We picked this community for the caring staff. I would reccommend to others.

Mom has been there 2 1/2 months and currently on 3rd 10 day covid isolation restriction. Staffing is friendly, but seems to be a high turnover rate. Each resident has a cleaning schedule, but is not closely followed. Activities, when provided, are well attended. Meals are plentiful, average quality. The Move in process was seamless. Communication is good. Set expectations. Facilities are excellent, good lighting, spacious apartments, walkable loop around grounds, nice views.

We picked this community because it was close. I would tell them that staff mostly don t even say hi. His room needs to be cleaned more often. I knox it s memory care and i wouldn t want their job but we pay alot for good care and not sure all employees give their best. We were spoiled at willow lane. They were the best.

The Staff goes above, and beyond to assist. I would recommend to others. We picked this community because of the location. They are awesome.

The carpet in our loved ones apartment is stained very badly but the facility itself is clean. The staff members there are terrific, caring, helpful and engaging. The quality of the care services is very good. The food is often cold when it was supposed to be served hot. They have good activities as well for the residents.

My loved one was previously a resident at Oak Park Place Madison and I visited about once a week. Overall, his experience at this facility was good. From what I could tell, the staff was nice to my loved one. Like all facilities, they are busy. Some staff were better than others. The facility did seem clean. There was not very much communication with the family, I didn't have a person to communicate with. However, hospice communicated with me. So families should just make sure that they have that information.

1 my husband was having health problems and that's the reason we moved here to be close to kids but everybody has been really nice and very helpful 2 it could be a little better. It looks like somethings are just old and need to be replaced like carpeting, and outdoor decks need to be power washed. 3 everyone here is just lovely. My husband and I are glad we're here and we've got so many friends already. 4 we have a senior apartment and I also have people coming in to help me with my husband and that was very important when we signed up here 5 the food is pretty good, there is always something different on the menu and if you don't like it, all you have to do is put in what you want on your order 6 I don't do any of the activities because I'm busy taking care of my husband. He does the rosary and we both do the pub on Wednesday and ice cream socials on Friday and Sunday. 7 I really don't have anything to compare it to, but it seems to be pretty good for us

The staff is interested in Mom, her life, her family, how she is feeling everyday. They have always been willing to answer our questions in person or over the phone. We are happy that Mom is in a place that is safe and good for her.

We toured Oak Park Place Madison during our search for Assisted Living for our loved one. This facility seemed okay. It was very clean and modern. The staff were helpful and welcoming.

The food is better than the last place. We picked this community, because the staff was amazing, they really seemed to care about loved one, and the price was better than other places. The caregivers do a good job with passing the meds, but it would be nice if they had a full-time nurse, to better manage the medication. I would recommend to other families.
