Nile Living

Everything is just great! We're very pleased. We decided to move in. They have the independent living cottages, and then they have assisted living in the main lodge, and memory care as well. We are in the cottages and the price is definitely fair - in fact, it was actually cheaper than some of the others in the area. They could improve on the food service, since the waitresses are also the caregivers, so their duties are divided, which naturally slows them down. Other than that thouhg, we have been very pleased so far.

So far so good. The only thing is the food program, there is a lot of gravy and chicken, there aren't a lot of healthier options, other than the salad bar. I think the professionalism of the staff is what really stands out about them, they are so nice and really seem personable. Whoever is taking care of the maintenance is also doing a good job, it is always clean and well kept.

I met with Meghan and received some great information about how assised living is different from adult foster care. She showed me their Woodside building. I liked it alot and I think D would like it too. It is the most expensive facility and requires a $2000 entry fee that is very steep. They have only one studio available that was very nice and the perfecet size with lots of light.

I just left from visiting my Dad at his new home. About a month ago he needed to move from his independent living facility to one with greater assisted living. He is 94 and he was starting to fall more often and feeling more lonely at night. We found Powell Valley through "A Place For Mom". It has proved to be a great find. In Dad's words they are very friendly and welcoming at his new place. Wen he walks down the hall everyone says hello. There are a bunch of Packer fans some of which have stopped in to discuss the team. He also enjoys sitting out in the courtyard reading, watching the water in the ponds and the people walking by. All of my interactions with the staff have great and they have welcomed my Dad into the community. I am so happy that we found this great community!

They're great. They cost about the same or a little bit lower than the rest of them around town so that's good. They only thing is they have a schedule or charges after you rent the aparment. We're up to $1100 and we don't need everything in those departments so I think we're paying more than we should for that. He needed to be shown where the dining room was a couple of times and he needed his meds given to him and a bath. He doesn't need the first one anymore and he'll refuse the baths as much as he can. So we're paying $1100 for the meds and baths that aren't happening. Legally they can't force him and I wouldn't want them too. No matter where he went, that would be the same. He doesn't take part in the activites but I see a lot of other people doing them and they seem to have a good time. They're very good people there - I like them.

Calarago is a great place.

Awesome! I feel the people here are so important. Everyone I met loves this place. The atmosphere is lovely also. This option is my favorite so far.

Newer facility. Well maintained. Good concept of care and felt very comfortable there.

We had a personalized tour arranged and the staff and facility were very impressive. They even arranged for a 30 day trial stay in the one open studio apartment that was available. Mom seems to be enjoying the facility, residents and staff.

What a beautiful community in an amazing area of Portland (And they have parking, lots of it!!!!). The new dinning room remodel is to die for and there are some of the amazing views on each floor. I love the idea of a salad bar with all the fresh items to choose from. The community is almost like a little town, with a general store, a used store, chapel, , post office , beauty salon all inside the building!

I am very happy with this community for the care. The staff is outstanding. and keep me informed on any changes. The community offers a lot of healthy meals that are very appealing. We liked the list of activities that are offered to the residents. We would recommend this community for the care of a loved one to other families looking for care.

My parents are in the process of getting a few small things worked out, but for the most part, everything is going quite smoothly. The place is very nice. My parents' apartment is awesome, which was really the savior in this process.

This is a nice, clean and well maintained community. The staff are very interactive, friendly and always ask if they can help you. The wait staff are very attentive. The food is good for people over 70 as I feel it needed more spices. The portions are good sized and if you want more you just have to ask them. They offer daily activities and are even willing to try activities the residents suggest. I would recommend this community. I would also recommend A Place for Mom as they were a great help.

I love Calaroga & everyone working here from Leah, Kelly, Luke, Sam and all the others. They all go out of their way to assist you in anything you need. The food leaves something to be desired. Sometimes it's outstanding, sometimes fair & sometimes yucky. I don't complain, I just don't eat it. I'm sure it's difficult to please 200+ folks. It is what it is. I can always count on the food being great when served at a function i.e. birthday parties & special occasions.

We used Powell Valley Assisted Living for a brief respite stay for my loved one, and overall I think they did a great job. It's a nice looking, clean facility, and the staff were all very friendly. They did a great job making her feel welcome and introducing her to the community. It's a very nice place!

It going really good, we are really happy. She is going to activities, and doing so much more there. I am just ecstatic about it. The people there, the staff, are super, super nice and sweet. They do little things like when they are taking her to lunch or breakfast, they will fluff her hair up, and my mom just loves the girl that does that. The food is not bad here, it's good or better. They even have a happy hour on Fridays, and they serve beer and wine, and they will have a couple of glasses and it's quite good. They play music on Fridays. It just really is good. She can walk out to the courtyard, and her walking is getting better. It's very clean, and they take good care of the place they are always working on the grounds. They are pretty easy to talk to. It really has gone well for us, I would recommend them.

I really liked this place. Warm, friendly, and professional. Had lunch and it was actually pretty good, but could have had a little more spice.
