This place neglects the needs of the seniors living here, they do not treat them or their families with respect. Me, my mother, and my grandmother were in there to visit my great great aunt and she told us that they haven’t given her the medicine for her eyes so after 30mins of looking for someone we found two women eating and watching tv... we asked them when it was time for her meds and they said she gets them at 8 and her medicine provider is on break so she will be back in about 15mins, 30mins pass and we ask them again (politely) and the other lady told us she will be back in 30-40mins (so they have no clue when this women is getting here and it has been 2 hours...) we wait in her room and one of the lady’s and the medicine girl comes in and she points her finger at my aunt saying they already gave her, her meds when her other family was here (we called them and they said they did not) so she insisted they did not and the lady started raising her voice at my aunt telling her she has no clue because she doesn’t keep track. So my mother and grandmother repeated what the two ladies earlier said and one of the ladies who is African American insisted they did not and was screaming that we cannot treat her like this because of the color of her skin (we NEVER mentioned the color of her skin not once...) and we said we weren’t and that they need to give my aunt her meds and the ladies continued to scream at us and the African American lady screams “IF YOU WANT ME TO BE A [removed] ILL ACT LIKE A [removed]!” And slams the door to my aunts room SLAMS IT! While all these elderly people are sleeping. All in all this place needs to be shut down, they do not ever have enough staff and the staff they do have does not care about the elderly. They are very rude and don’t care if the elderly get their meds are food they need... So please please please do not take your older loved one here, they deserve love and amazing care. Not people that won’t help at all... (Side note: they also did not come to help my aunt clean herself after she deficated in her bed, they did not answer to her emergency button and my grandmother had to drive there and clean her up. They also don’t lock the doors so anyone can come in or out. And they do not pay attention to the elderly, my aunt walked out of her room and wanders the hall at night and she is very weak because she doesn’t eat the food it’s too nasty. This place needs to be shut down...)

We toured and met with Atria's Community Sales Director in [date removed]. We were distressed when the Sales Director called my mother's home instead of the phone numbers that we provided. The Sales Director explained in great detail to my mother and her care-giver that the daughters were looking for a facility for her. As uncomfortable as this was, we were still hoping mom would be admitted. We were told by the Sales Director they had two rooms available. We signed the "Reservation Commitment" form mid-January and provided a "refundable" check. The Sales Director explained about two days later that no rooms were actually available. Our mother's condition deteriorated and she was placed in another facility because Atria had no rooms. On [date removed], we wrote Atria for a refund. After numerous phone calls, e-mails and three months, Atria has not reimbursed our 86 year old mother.

We have not had a good experience with this facility. They say yes to everything you ask and do not deliver the care you pay for. The first week our family member was neglected. When we went to check on their room it was covered in feces and dirty laundry soaked in urine piled high. It was obvious room checks are not being done. In addition to the neglect you have their sales and marketing team scamming you for their "bonus" checks. This place does not care about people. It is obvious the new director only cares about headcount and not the residents health/safety.

My experience at this community has been a complete nightmare, the staff absolutely did not take care of my grandmothers needs and neglected her health completely. They did not follow with any promises they had told me and I removed her immediately from there care. The director was extremely unprofessional and I had over heard her saying many bad things about my loved one and other residents to the other staff. Every possible disappointment that was imaginable happened and I would never recommend this place to anyone.

I had a bad experience with the staff at the community. My loved one was not receiving the proper care that they needed. The staff were not making sure that his hygiene care was being met. I wasn't aware that they had stopped administering my loved one some medicine for some months before i found out. My loved one would have accidents and when i would visit i wouldn't see a staff trying to help them out.

WARNiNG!! Do not place someone you love in this facility. I would give this review a negative star rating if it were an option. The first incident was when my dad started having dizzy spells. They said they needed to change his blood pressure medication. Shortly after that I discovered that they were giving in 4X the prescribed heart medication. They continued filling prescriptions through their pharmacy (at our expense) even after being instructed not to do so unless it was an emergency. They assured me over and over that they could handle Alzheimer's patients. Now just 6 months after my father moved into the facility, and paid a $2,500 move in nonrefundable fee they basically threw him out because of a change in his behavior and were unwilling to compromise or work with us and refused to give us a 45 day notice. They insisted that my father have a sitter for 24 hours per day at our expense and said they did not have this ability, which was a lie. The only other option they offered was to send him to their sister facility which was a wonderful solution for their benefit but was not a viable option for our family. Their only concern is their bottom line and they could CARE LESS how their actions affect the patient/tenant or their families. They gave 3 separate stories...first said that my dad tried to exit and became aggressive, then said that he pushed someone, then changed it again and put in his file that he punched a nurse. My father has never displayed this type of physical aggression which at least 2 nurses at the facility confirmed. They never tested him for a UTI which could explain his change in behavior. They tried to reach the family in the middle of the night and after unsuccesful attempts they called the police on my dad and showed up on my doorstep at 2 am trying to "place my dad". I never heard them at the door, so they shipped him to the hospital for "evaluation" The hospital has still not confirmed that they performed a UTI test or provided us with any results. This place is the bottom of the barrel and the director, Greg [removed] is downright evil to orchestrate this plan to oust an 87 year old Veteran and Alzheimer's patient. This is the most unprofessional operation I have ever seen.

Staff turnover is very high and prices have increased a lot. Talk to friends and family members and ask lots of questions. This is the best way to find out the answers to your questions. Most residents gain a lot of weight when they move in. Read the reports on the Agency for Health Care Administration website. Talk to the Ombudsman.

My grandmother fell in her bathroom and pressed her help button to which a nurse responded. [removed] My aunt arrived in the meantime and took care of the situation. The nurse called me to tell me that my grandma was at an ER but would be okay and would be back to the facility soon. Three weeks ago Grandma fell again while walking to my mother's truck. Grandma uses a walker, but also grabbed the safety railing, which was shaky and caused her to fall. [removed] Grandma will be in the hospital for at least two more weeks and then a rehab facility for a few more weeks. No one from Marshview has called or come by to check on her. When my mom or aunt use Grandma's apartment to shower, they have been ignored by the director, who refused to pay for Grandma's apartment while she is in the hospital.

When you think you are placing a loved one in a safe and caring place, Atria looks like the place. Don't be fooled by the pretty appearance, Our Mother went there 2 months ago, because she could no longer care for herself. She has good days and bad days. On her bad days, the staff does not check on her, she goes days without a meal because they refuse to bring her a meal. She has lost even more weight. She had surgery and not ONE of the staff came up to check on her when she returned to her room. They do not care. They encourage them to go down to eat in the dining room, but when they can't because they are dizzy, or feel sick, they will NOT bring her a meal. [removed] She won't ask them to bring her anything because one of her simptons is lack of appetite, so they don't care if she eats or not, and [removed] Also she has been there 2 months and they have only changed her sheets twice.

they don't give much help with personal grooming. they do not do things like remind them to brush their teeth or comb their hair. residents need to be self sufficient or they will be lacking. employees do not have time to assist because the staffing ratio is inadequate. they make residents do alot of activities so they can post pictures on facebook. and one other thing - the food they serve is very starchy and not veryhealthy.

It appears that they are not set up to actually care for those needing meds after hours, transfer to activities, or who can't care for themselves. The wonderful tour and beautiful facilities counted for nothing compared to the poor care. They tell me changes have been made but no promise or price would get me back there. People since have told me mom required too much care for them to handle. They did an in home evaluation and told me everything would be fine. I don't give bad ratings but I'm very serious about this.

Please note – this might not be your experience – each potential resident/family is distinctly different. I can only speak for my Mom and myself - all true. Good Things: Med Techs are kind and patient; maintenance is responsive and friendly; facility is small; activities are well-attended/enjoyed by most residents (Mom was unable to participate in anything except Walmart outings due to her condition); and, most of the receptionists were polite, kind, concerned, and helpful – especially those who worked in the evenings. My 80-yr old Mom (global aphasic from stroke) lived at the Court ALF for about a year, and was a patient at the Cove from time-to-time during that same period. I will say the Med Techs are wonderful. They worked hard to understand my Mom, were patient with her, and learned to capably and sweetly care for her. That said, Mom expresses that she gives them "tips"...I wondered where her cash was going. Mom wants to tip certain folks because she likes how they treat her. Taking the bad with the good there - they became so good to and with Mom. When Mom changed her POA and med surrogacy, the staff at Savannah Court and Cove had a NASTY lot of trouble accepting her desires, and leaving others out of the specific assistance and info stream (I mean they spoke with the previous POA, discussing and reporting what I said and was doing), which really fed the family discord. Unexpected, sad, and terribly difficult. Admittedly some folks in management signed her Med Surrogacy as witnesses when they weren’t supposed to (and they were so kind to me, and concerned for Mom) – but I wasn’t informed of that until I’d spent a week or more receiving rude and dismissive treatment and tried to discuss it with the executive director. He told me then. I took immediate steps to provide a properly witnessed document. Mom had a fall. A few days after, her heart rate dropped to 30bpm (that's what it was when I got her to the emergency room). It's likely that's why she fell earlier. Her aphasia makes it difficult to discern the reason for the fall, especially a few days after. I did not know she had fallen until the evening she had a dizzy-spell. That's when she decided to change her POA and Med Surrogacy. She subsequently had a pacemaker "installed", and was sent to the Cove (a co-located 24-hour nursing/rehab) to spend a little rehab time. There was again the difficulty, in spite of the paperwork that was properly witnessed this time. They tried to put her in a room that smelled so badly of old urine (the room, not the other resident, not the bathroom (totally))...it was tough to take a full breath in there. It was the entire room, carpet, bedding...I had to listen to staff members tell me they didn't smell anything before I got them to put her in a different room. In the facility was an advanced Alzheimer's patient. Tell you how I know that - in the middle of the night he wandered out of his room (apparently totally unobserved in this 24-hour nursing/rehab), down the hall, past the nurses' station, down the next hall, into my Mom's room, sat on her bed, and [removed]...for awhile...because sometimes people yell and scream in nursing homes but no none comes to see what's up because they are very used to people yelling and screaming. It seems no one was around to see him or redirect him. I did not receive a call that night...when I called the next morning to see how Mom was doing I was told, "She's fine, now, but she had a rough night." "Why?" I asked. "One of our male patients went into her room and sat on her bed in the middle of the night. She's calmed down, now." I left work and went up there. She was in pain (probably from having her pacemaker site "massaged" in the middle of the night), upset, and let me know – complete with gestures and crying – what had happened. When I was told by the staff that it had been a male Alzheimer's patient, I asked the obvious questions - Did they have a lock-down area for patients who wander; Did they have one-on-one monitoring; Did they have a "sitter" for this gentleman? I was told they did NOT have lockdown area, and the family could not afford one-on-one monitoring, or a sitter. This tells me they accepted him as a patient even though they were fully aware of his condition and propensity for wandering. This is definitely NOT the fault of the family or this gentleman, but rather the fault of his doctor and this facility. I have experience with marketing and nursing “professionals” assessing potential patients and urging placement of some they are neither capable of, nor licensed to tend to specific needs. Seemingly all about the money when that occurs. While there I found cockroaches in Mom's dresser drawer, someone had spilled or deposited what was apparently a LOT of urine on the carpeting in her room (big, wet, smelly area from mid-room into the hallway...on which a small fan was blowing), and I had to argue EXTENSIVELY with SEVERAL DIFFERENT kitchen and nursing staff members to get Mom's diet back to where it was when she first arrived. Pureed was what was ordered, and marked on her paper at the table (would’ve been fine), but the kitchen and some of the nursing staff VERY RUDELY and DISMISSIVELY insisted it had been changed to regular...by whom they could not clearly say. I finally got the charge nurse to make it pureed again. I took my Mom to the cardiologist that day...and asked him if it would be okay for her to go back to the ALF side...he approved it and we moved. I could say more...I just pray this place is checked from top to bottom, inside-out, and sideways both ways, on all areas of operation... UNANNOUNCED...to include how they relate to family (they should focus on the residents/patients, and remain objective and more formal/ professional /slightly aloof all business, albeit cordial, when presented with emotional issues and family discord), how they address medication administering and record-keeping, how they communicate internally amongst staff, and externally with family, how they address errors/potential errors.

I thought this was going to be a great place but oh how wrong I was. My mother became very ill, dehydrated and had to find out when another resident told us she was begging mother to eat. The only day we did not visit they moved her into a locked unit and never called us. She was severely dehydrated and confused and was trying to call 911 for help. The staff and the owner took her phone out of the room and left her alone. Thanks goodness friends came to visit and called us and when we got there she was in a dirty room of a previous patient. The staff work so many very long days that I can't imagine how they stay sane. Their medication delivery is so unsafe as they stack cups of medications on top of each other then try to deliver them to the correct person. Their air conditioning is horrible too and they will not fix it. Mother was found in an 80-85 degree room many times. It was an absolutely HORRIBLE experience. My mom in now in a wonderful place and is happy and healthy.

We toured this place looking for a place for mom. The nursing staff including Director are all LPN's, NO registered Nurses whatsoever. The aides did not seem that knowledgeable either. I saw one aide outside smoking. Very unprofessional in my opinion, AND not healthy either. The elevators STINK, and have the smell of dirty diapers, as do some of the resident rooms as we walked by on an unannounced visit. There is NOT good security either, we walked right by the front desk without anyone asking a thing as we walked through the assisted living side to the rehab side. This place is crossed off our list...yuck!

My loved one was a resident here. The sales and nursing staff are all smiles and full of promises before you sign a contract to have your family member placed there. Then things go down the drain. The nursing director, her nursing staff and med techs are not very good at what they do. They definitely need additional training, as well as staffing. There were times when my family member would push his pendant for someone to come to his room, only to have response time for staff to come take over 20 minutes for assistance. There has also been times when I have smelled strong urine and poop smells coming from residents ithat are in wheelchairs. Keep your loved one out of this place.
