I liked this area being out away from the town, liked the room alot especially the 2 bathroom feature in a two bedroom apartment, was disappointed in there busing features as I am trying to get my parents to NOT drive, but loved the memory care idea.Invited Sunday afternoon for a hot dog picnic but not sure at this point if parents could go.

Turkeys in the field.Beautiful. Music/massage therapy. Apts. 45 mins from Ames.

I have had two tours by two different staff members, and I was impressed both times. The staff seemed to be confident and competent and the residents seemed happy and calm and well taken care of. The building itself is in a nice rural location that seems serene and beautiful during all seasons.

When I viewed the communities back in march 2013 I was looking for a nice home for my parents. I went to the Village Hills of Indianola and found the staff to be wonderful the layout and grounds were well kept and the care service we were seeking fit the needs of my parents.

This was pretty nice, my sister and I both felt it was pretty nice and pretty comparable to Keystone. It didn't have as much in the way of activities and it didn't seem as large but bigger isn't always better.

Beautiful inside and out. Pricey with separate pricing for amount of help the senior will need. For example, it was $8 for every 15 min of help (med administration, ambulating, showering, etc.)

Enjoyed the visit. Clean and homey place. Residents all seemed very happy with their accommodations. Did a tour of several apartments. They were spacious and very bright. Community spaces were clean and busy with residents. Dining rooms were pleasant and cooks most helpful. I observed an activity program that everyone was enjoying. My only concern was cost.

Memory unit similar to Belmont, added fees based on min. of additional care in AL. 30 hours of personal care time allowed per month in AL's basic charge. Laundry additional in AL and memory unit at $9/load. Rooms are spacious.

It appears to be a wonderful place.

This might be a good fit for Mom.

It is a fine facility and it gets the job done

Our family had an in person tour and the rooms were great but the room that was available for our loved one at the time was on the second floor. That was not going to work out because our loved one has COPD and they would had to walk down a long hallway, use the elevator and walk down another long hallway to get to the dining hall.

My dad is moving out because the community could not offer the care that was need. The staff were honest about not be able to give the help. Otherwise the community is clean, they make good meals, and if it is needed I would recommend this community to family and friends.

While my mother was in this community, it was not a good fit. They had no snacks and they recently changed management. I am glad I got her out of there before they did so.

The staff at Sunset Park Place have been very easy to work with and very helpful with the move. They offer a variety of activities for the residents to partake in. The community is well kept throughout and do a pretty good job with cleanliness. The food is not like homemade food but it is pretty good for a commercial kitchen.

Overall it has been good for my dad but he is still transitioning into the senior environment. The staff have been giving enthusiastic talks with my dad to attempt a try with the activities and outings. Most of the staff are welcoming and they help my dad get comfortable. The food is okay, my dad is use to home cooked meals.

Aides are very helpful and the cook ask your opinions on the food. . Lots of activities. Building is well maintained. They celebrate birthdays with your favorite food. They offer transportation to doctors appointments locally. I like that you can have your pet.

I give a 3, housekeeping is not good, every time I visit I have to clean her room and my daughter has to change her bedding all the time, it's not that organized with a cleaning schedule, she showers herself, so they can at least pick a day to wash her sheets, we have complained a few times

They lie, and don't follow thru. They'll make deals to pay less to get you to take your love ones there and if they know things are getting bad at home they bombard you with phone calls. But they don't carry thru with their financial deals, charge you more and never seem to refund the money no matter how many pple you talk to. And when your spouse is known to walk away from home day or night you sure as he'll don't give him the keys to the lock down facility. Staff wouldn't relay important messages to your love one from yourself. He was constantly told he was ready to go back home but that wasn't the goal. When therapy was no longer being cover by insur. Bc insur felt it was no longer needed they continued therapy and told the therapists to send the bill to us. No one there understood parkinsons or how to treat the person having it. The staff didn't know how to give my husband his meds. They constantly listened to my husband with LBD on how to give him his meds though he was known to overdose himself with his meds. He was constantly being over dosed or under dosed. Until the new nurse threatened loss of staff's job. A schedule for his meds was never devised until I finally got angry threatened to pull him out and wrote a schedule out for the staff. BTW the nurse was wonderful, new and trying to right the wrongs of previous administration and hadn't been working there until shortly before my husband was admitted. Family were the ones to discover his meds were wrong or not being given correctly bc they would see physical and mental changes in my husband when they'd visited him or see wrong doses administered or given too close together and then tell me or I would notice And start asking questions. Or husband would tell or demonstrate the problems like he had keys and could unlock the doors but staff never informed me. It wasn't just the treatment given, but the overcharging of thousands and thousands of dollars every month. I mean like ten thousand too much each month. Should be added to my statement.
