Review for Hawthorne Inn and Estates of Brandon

It's very clean, no complaints with staff or facility, size of the room's are perfect for one or two persons. Cost was a large part of our choice to move in, great value for a community.

I obviously like the residents and the employees and the food and the happy hours! They have my favorite wine and never run out. I like wine down Wednesdays because we have live music and it is very nice.

Review for Brookdale Palmer Ranch

We picked this community, because of the facilities and staff. They have great staff, clean and safe.Excellent, but slow on repairs and inconsistent quality of laundry. Still waiting on action after notification on ants in apt.

Would recommend this community

Our loved one really enjoys the friendly atmosphere and the accessibility of the executive director. This community recently had a change of ownership so the only thing our loved one is unhappy with is the new staff changes they are making.

The Food is generally not good. Nice staff. Facility is fine. I believe there are plans to update the hallways. Quality of food is the major issue.

We did not like this community very much. They were not fit to take care of my mom the way that we thought that she should be taken care of. We had a few problems here and it was not a good experience.

Unsatisfactory, sadly disappointing "ugly" experiencee

A new management supervisor of the facility who seems to have no TRUE feelings of compassion, but pretends to. She literally makes UNKEPT promises dealing with resident care. Verbally she cares, but action reflects her caring about her ladder climbing.

Our family experience

It's clean but no real diversity in food and no real outings for the residents. Staff is kind and somewhat helpful however but seems like they are understaffed The building look like a hotel but has a hospital feel

Not what we expected

The building smells like stale urine. My mother cleaned her own room. There were issues with having laundry done. People's meds forgotten. When she moved in, I was told they would help set up star bus transportation, was then told I had to do it myself.

Considerably Disappointed

On multiple occasions, my friend was unable to receive assistance on the toilet for more than an hour while I was present. Also, I'm astounded that your front desk personnel do not abide by HIPPA laws. One of them has asked me personal information about my friend often.

STILL waiting for refund!

My mother was sent there after hospitalization for wound care, and she had dementia. The staff in the skilled nursing area is hit or miss. [Name removed] and [name removed] are WONDERFUL. Some of the other staff, not so much. I realize it is the dementia unit, but my moms eyeglasses came up missing and nobody seemed to care. She supposedly had wound care twice daily, but when rushed to the hospital for a different matter, her wound area was GREEN. My biggest complaint, however, is with their corporate practices regarding refunds. Mom was checked out of Brookdale on [date removed], and today is [date removed], and I am STILL waiting for a refund. First I was told it would be the first of the month. Understandable. When I had not received the refund by the 10th, I drove across state to meet with business office in person. Was told check would go out on Thursday the 13th. When I had not received it by the 17th, I called again, asking for a supervisor. 2 days later I got a call telling me refund would be issued by corporate on [date removed]..I am still waiting. Trust me, if mom had been 45 days late on her 'rent' they would have evicted her a long time ago! So why am I still waiting for a refund 45 days after check-out? I explained the money was needed for funeral expenses, but they don't care. Shoddy business practices, to say the least.

Brookdale Palmer Ranch review

Areas they could improve on - Quality of meals, consistency of CNA staff showing up. I moved out of the facility [date removed]. Top management changes were made around Oct. 1, 2023. Things may have improved and I am not qualified to judge.

Review of Hawthorne.

Sadly my Mom is there for now. The sales team is great but once you are in nothing ever gets fixed. All residents complain about the food. But 5 months ago my Mom's AC failed and is still not fixed. I have complained as high up their management ladder I can find. And have heard 2 weeks to repair for 4 months. Their solution is a floor unit in my Mom's small family room which sits in the middle of the floor. Worse, there's no room for a unit in her bedroom. Anyway, please proceed with caution if you're looking at Hawthorne and talk to some residents but not the ones hand picked for insight.

Proceed with Caution

Just don't go there. The food was terrible. It was prepared at the facility next door and then brought over in containers. Sometimes there wasn't enough of it. Sometimes it was cold. And it just wasn't very appetizing. My loved one fell twice and was injured, I think because the hard floors were wet, so we ended up pulling her out of there. The care was spotty and sporadic. Some days it seemed like they were adequately staffed, and other days it seemed like nobody was around.

NOT a place for Mom, or ANYONE.

This place is terrible and should be closed down immediately. The lack of compassion and care that this place provides is disgusting. There is no comfort for these elderly people needing assistants. They leave patients sitting in their feces and don’t care whether they eat or not. Absolutely sickening. SHUT THIS PLACE DOWN.

Stay Clear of How They Present This Place Upfront.

I would stay far away from this place. In the beginning they make things great and over time with three administration changes in a 6 month period and no real concern for their residents they only care about taking your money and doing the minimum that is required. - Biggest issue is that on multiple occasions the staff provided the wrong medicine to my parents. (not just my parents other residents as well) - Not cleaning rooms regularly. - Providing plasticware instead of silverware during meal times. - Broken heater for the facility in the cold months and no concern or rush to get it resolved was broken for almost a week. - No picking up laundry on scheduled date. - Staffing on the weekend is slim to none, you have one nurse that has to manage two floors. - Missing clothes upon return of clothes. - Onsite Beautician - never saw that we had to bring parents out ourselves. - Housekeeping Services Daily - this is purely a joke - we had to come and remove trash and ask for things just s
