Nice place, pleasant residences.

We toured this facility, and saw some of the activity areas, apartments, a cottage, the dining room and administrative area/library. The cottage was roomy and the apartment was adequate, with plenty of storage space. It had limited dining space, but everything was updated and really very nice. Washer and dryer in the residence. It was between meals so we did not have an opportunity to try the food. We did not see a lot of activity going on, but the resident we spoke with in the cottage said she's been living here for 10 - 15 years and loves it; would not want to live anywhere else. We did not see the assisted living area or the skilled nursing area, but they get good marks at Medicare.gov. I would want another tour, specifically in those areas.

Redwood Terrace--A great Place to call Home.

Clean, attractive units with attention to details by housekeepers and staff. The grounds are very well maintained and landscaped. Safety is maintained and monitored daily. Food is prepared and served by professional staff. All employees are very friendly and helpful. On site housing includes Independent and Assisted Living, as well as Memory Care. We have onsite services including a skilled nursing unit , and access to physical therapy including a therapy pool. A wide variety of activities are available: Bingo, Friday Fun Night, and bus outings to local points of interest and restaurants. An outstanding library is enjoyed by all. Overall, a very good value for all Redwood Terrace has to offer.

Lovely Country Estate

Rosemont Village is a beautiful country estate in the middle of the suburbs. You can sit in your apartment (in my case on a lovely balcony), look at the trees and listen to the cicadas and not hear anything else. The residents are very friendly and pleasant and the food is fine. There's just one problem; the activities. They are all along the line of bridge, bingo - nothing cultural, nothing that engages the mind. Bring a book to read as you sit among the trees.

Community Walking

I've always enjoyed walking through gardens or lovely areas, so when I first saw Royal Oaks, that was my first positive reaction. One can walk about a mile inside the gated community or several miles on the community track across the street. There are loads of beautiful trees and plantings here where birds sing, squirrels play, rabbits are seen and horses kept on ranches nearby. Some of my fellow residents have days they walk and that's fun, too. Some of the people need walkers to enable them, and if I ever need one, I still hope I can enjoy this lovely home I have.

My opinion of Royal Oaks is very high. Everything I said in the review is how I feel.

My wife and I had looked at several senior residences in the past out of curiosity. Her mother had been a resident in a one prior to her death. My wife had worked as a volunteer there for several years and was familiar with what they offered and generally if there was a homey, family atmosphere rather than an institutional aura about them. Finally, after several falls, stays in the hospital and visible concern of our daughter we decided that we really weren’t ‘too young’ after all, and to ‘get real’ and look around again. We visited three different places in the area, all of which were lovely. Of these three, Royal Oaks was the one that impressed us the most. There were a number of reasons that we were drawn to Royal Oaks. First of all the general overall beauty of the well-maintained grounds and a feeling of home and safety one senses when entering the property. We were shown a number of available apartments. While all were very attractive and seemed acceptable for occupancy, the sales person explained that they could be modified to some extent, based on the desires of the potential new resident. The person at the front desk was so capable, friendly and genuine. He made us feel at home and that he really liked people. There was an impressive lobby, great room and dining room. One could greet and entertain guests there with no misgivings. They feature marvelous holiday brunches fit for a king. There is a wonderful staff at every position, from management through service and mechanical positions. All are competent, polite, cheerful and desiring to ‘do a good job’. Royal Oaks is very well maintained. It is cleaned regularly and is spotless in all the public areas. The other residents are what one would hope them to be and would select as neighbors if that was even possible.. Finally, but most certainly not the least important, is that skilled nursing and assisted living accommodations are available on the grounds. If one’s loved one becomes infirm, the other person rapidly recognizes what a wonderful benefit it is. There are other excellent qualities. Come see for yourself. It can’t hurt and you might be grateful that you did! You may even be invited to lunch.

This place was beautiful. Loved the library. Talked to some residents that loved the place. Beautiful grounds - really liked that Mom could have her own garden area. Duck Pond! water aerobics - lots of activities - but no memory care for dad later. residents very involved in their own community - ie boutique - lots of what looked like very active seniors - 'buy -in' --- little more $ than Westminister

Large Buy In

Really, really nice, but you have to effectively do a $65,000-$100,000 buy in in the beginning. Their selling point is that they will never kick you out, ever, no matter how far you decline. You will never have to worry about going any place again. I liked it but it was cost prohibitive, plus too far from my house.

Lovely Campus, Skilled Nursing Was Not Great

My dad was there for rehab for a while. It's a really lovely campus. Probably, for people who are more independent, it's good place. In the rehab, which was the full nursing care, it was not great. If you pushed your call button it would take forever for someone to come. Generally, we would take care of stuff long before staff showed up. For the other care levels it's probably lovely. The food there was not great. Again, they have different dining facility so the one he was in was not good but I can't speak to all of them. We toured the other parts of it because my dad's wife was looking for a place for them to settle in after he got out of rehab. We could see that all the different levels of care had their different dining facilities. In the skilled care you got what they put in front of you.

Very Expensive!

My mother went in for skilled nursing care. They were the most expensive and had the most extensive care going on. I went in there a couple times and it looked okay but while my mother was there she got an infections. They suspect it might have been the food but they weren't sure. So she had to stay for and extra 4 weeks before we could transfer her to another, less expensive, community. The cost was definitely a reason to move her and also I don't think Rosewood had any one bedrooms available when we were looking.

Buy-In Community With All Levels of Care

It has a different feel. Each one of these places kind of has their own feel based on the way it's laid out and set up. White Sands had long hallways and a little bit more dormy feel. The rooms were smaller her my step-mom didn't like that. The bang for the buck was a little less than another place but then, White Sands was right on the ocean. It was nice. White Sands has a different program. They will only let you in if you meet their financial criteria. It's buy in and then you're' guaranteed residency for life and they had different levels of care - Alzheimer's and nursing care and things like that.

Home Too Soon

I believe I brought my father home WAY TOO SOON. Unfortunately, as soon as he felt he was independent of his oxygen, he wanted to go home! MAIN REASON: They take forever to come when you ring the bell for help. "They let me sit in my own pee". "One (evening) a girl even put TWO diapers on me and told me to just pee in the diaper, cuz i was too big for her to move, and that she would change me in the morning ." She never did. Most of the staff are nice and helpful; however, there are a few that try to do their very least. Either that or they need a lesson in prioritizing. My father has fallen twice since I got him home in less than 24 hours. YOU TELL ME WAS HE READY TO COME HOME?!
