The assisted living community area's were nice but the rooms still had regular tubs with grab bars. Not great if you have mobility issues. Could use an update.

Lovely Community

I had a pleasant tour of this community. Everything went very well, and I enjoyed my tour. This is a nice community with kind. The staff was very friendly. From what I saw the community looked nice. It was a pleasant experience, but I didn't feel like this was the one for me.

Felt a little rushed and institutional, not very personal.

The woman that greeted me and took me around was very personable and friendly, but they were the only place that didn't know, or ask, who we were looking for or why. She had to keep looking at the clipboard for her name, it was a very cursory quick tour, and it felt very institutional. The residence in the independent area looked like a New York walk up apartment, kind of dim and dreary.

Not a great experience

We had received great feedback from others about this facility, but we've struggled with our experience so far. Our main concerns being falls and weight loss for our loved one. We've reached out to the Executive Director several times and it's been very difficult to get straight information about our loved one and what's actually going on. We're just not sure how much of it is due to Nature vs Nurture. Communication with the family has not been good. For example, our loved one was at the hospital being prepped for a procedure and we had no idea. We didn't receive a call or notification from the facility. Unfortunately, I think this is the only facility in our area that accepts Medicare. We haven't been satisfied with things here at all. I wouldn't recommend this facility to family and friends.

United Methodist?

I went with my mother in law about two months ago and of course what sold her was knowing so many people. That’s good but there must be more and I did not see it. The rooms remind me of an old hotel from the sixties. There is nothing about them that gives that “homey feeling.” I truly cannot help but wonder how many of those writing wonderful reviews are “United Methodist church members”?

The independent living apartments are in a multiple storied tower. Both the one and 2 story apartments were small and need of freshening and updating. We also went to one of the two bedroom cottages which is not within close walking distance. The portions of food at lunch were small and unappetizing. They could not make any food accommodation.

Beware of the healthcare that you intrust with your family.

Placed mother in facility for rehab after hospitalization. First of all the communication between the facility and family is non existent, unless you complain a lot. Most the care my mother received was terrible. She has lost weight, unable to sleep, ignored when she called to go the bathroom. The person I left in their care has declined so much. My mother had wounds that needed healing. They didn't offer any extra nourishment to promote tissue healing. I have compared them to another facility that my mother had been placed after a hospitalization and there is such a vast difference. My mother left the previous place with a healing wound, increased appetite and ability to walk with assistance. She now is malnourished, and unable to ambulate at all. I have failed as a daughter to put my mother into a safe place. Please do not put your loved one in their care. Take this from a medical professional of 35 years. This is not a place for healing and care.

Horrible

I have been here two months and they are trying to force me out. I have to be out by next Thursday and I have nowhere to go. They are in bankruptcy again new owners coming in on [date removed] I’m 61 years old With cerebral palsy and use a wheelchair and they were aware of my medical challenges before they allow me to move in here and now they’re saying they cannot accommodate me. They want me out. As I said, I have nowhere to go and they told me to have my cat put to sleep.

Filed for bankruptcy - be careful

After 7 years and over $[removed], I tried to the $[removed] owed back to my mom since she passed away. They gave me the run around and 'checks in the mail' BS, then I get a notification that I have to go through the bankruptcy to my money back. I am livid. They ignored my calls. Lied to me about the check being on the way. Disgusting behavior. I can't believe that with the number of property they own and rates, they cannot pay their debtors. Complete mismanagement. SMH

Accountability Absent Lacking Communication

High turnover of admin and "clinical" staff since sold July 2022. Chaos, poor record keeping, communication. Concerning observations of supervision and attentiveness to residents and families not welcomed (unless they get something out of it). Agency or staff must be a "YES" person to stay employed there. Lacking genuine compassion, kindness and accountability to residents and responsible parties. Profit appears to be the unstated mission. Safety and communication, follow through, training low level. Verify what you are told is actually true. Verify there are providers on call regularly if your loved one can't be taken out. Not the place with good reputation it once was. Search widely and carefully and check variety of references. Talk to others.

What happened?

Dear mckendree Village wow where do I start my My Mother lives here and its about to end due to the way it turned out so I visit for a few years past months the Towers dining room don’t have enough train servers and always understaff half the time we don’t get what we order.food comes out cold. Its never was like this now we have to be lucky to be served. Next marketing should be ashamed of how they let people who clearly are not independent live here I see many residents roaming around can’t take care of themselves it really sad there was Fight with two residents due to medical assistance !!!!!. There some good parts which I can see the maintenance are fast to most calls .coffee shop and the movie room my mother loves it’s very clean well maintained .front desk very nice overall it’s was a bad experience that could be fix but they don’t care

Good floor care, very poor communication and billing

The cleanliness and care on the floor is good, in fact the overall care on the floor is very satisfactory. The administrative office is the most abhorrent I have ever had to deal with and absolutely abusive. On 9/12 I arranged medical transport for my 92-year old father near my home because he had become bed-ridden and depressed after a fall. After 8 days after I admitted him, we had a consultation and they informed me that progress in rehab would be slow due to the move and his age, so set up a follow up meeting for 3 weeks later. Ten days after this meeting I got a 48-hour notice that they were ending his Medicare/supplemental insurance coverage. I filed an appeal with [Removed], and an independent Doctor agreed that care should not end and upheld my appeal. [Rempved] notified McKendree on 9/25. Three days later and without informing me, McKendree apparently again decided to reverse the findings of the independent Dr and the appeal and ceased his Medicare covered rehabilitation. I visit my father 3-4 times a week and never received any notice or progress update. On 10/31, I received full billing for the period following 9/28. This is the most egregious and unethical behavior I have ever encountered from a source that is supposed to be fiduciary of my aging father's well being. Information regarding his health and progress has been non-existent. Of all the places my father has lived; independent, assisted and now long-term care, this is the worst communication and most abusive billing practices I have encountered. I am actively searching for alternatives for my fathers care, even though moving him in his current condition is a hardship.

Unprofessional

The care at the health center/nursing home part is sad. Not one person that works there knows what dementia is and NO ONE THERE CARES about the residents. They are only there for a paycheck and that’s it. And what is so sad is that administration DOES NOT CARE WHAT STAFF DOES. Call lights ring for 15 to 45 minutes before someone even comes to the room. If your loved one is wet, THEY DON’T CARE. THEY WILL NOT DRY ANYONE THAT IS WET. You have to ask over and over again to get family member changed. THEY TELL YOU YOUR FAMILY MEMBER TELLS THEM THEY ARE NOT HUNGRY, WELL FOR A DEMENTIA PATIENT, NO REALLY MEANS YES. BUT THEY DON’T CARE. THEY WILL NOT FEED THEM. THEY ARE NEVER OFFERED A DRINK, THE STAFF NEVER BRINGS WATER TO THE PATIENTS AND IF THEY DO IT IS A CHILDS PLASTIC CUP. ADMINISTRATION SHOULD BE ASHAMED. I HOPE OTHERS WILL JOIN ME AND CONTACT THE APPROPRIATE PEOPLE AND LET THEM START INVESTIGATING THIS FACILITY. NEWS Channel 5 is my next email., and then not sure yet from there, but the governor is on my list. And they do not have RNs working there. They are supposedly LPN. The workers are ones that have been fired from reputable hospitals and can’t get a job anywhere else. Do not take a loved one there or your worst enemy. Not even a dog

Had a loved one there for rehab. Ridiculous. Understaffed, do no understand the meaning of dementia. Kept telling my loved one to pull string for help. Dementia patients do not understand that concept. If they get hungry or thirsty, too bad. No one will offer them anything to eat or drink and if they are wet, they stay that way. This place should be shut down. I am writing letters to senators and to the governor and joint commission and the state health department. The need to close this facility. If someone falls, or well, they will not do anything. Lazy off the street techs and only LPNs. They dress like RNs but are not. Needs to be shut down. On my list of priorities since I have moved my mom is to see that this place gets shut down. Sorry excuse for a nursing facility

Do not go here!

I had to move my wife out of here quickly. In the memory care department if someone has a fit they send them away so that they can get more medication. The staff also did not know how to take care of my wife and her needs. We both just did not feel comfortable here at all. They even told me that I needed to pay another nurse to come in and take care of her. I felt that was what I'm paying you guys for. It was a bad experience to say the least.
