Paradise Village

My mother lives in Paradise Village, and I really like that the community is so friendly and welcoming. It’s just great! The staff is friendly and accommodating, the community is clean, and they have lots of activities like church, Bingo, Crafts, outings; they even have a library and a salt water pool, which I’m a little jealous of. I was also surprised by how good the food is. Paradise Village really is a great community, and I would recommend it to others.

Mom's great care

This is a good community for mom The staff are caring and attentive. The community is clean. The menu is outstanding. The activities are helpful. We talked with a few of the residents and they seem to be happy with the care and that made us know that mom would like the care of living here. We do recommend this community highly.

A home for care

We like this community for the good care. Everyone is very nice and helpful. The staff helpful. The community is clean and very nice at all times. The menu is appealing and a lot to choose from. We have liked the meals that we have been able to have with her. I like knowing that she is active with the activities that are offered.

Wonderful Staff!!

My parents are both currently living in this community and I can't say enough great things about the staff and the quality of care they have provided them. They are absolutely excellent to them both and are always so caring in there work. I liked that the effort is unforced and they are all very well trained. All of the nurses and the administrative team have made sure to keep in good contact with me about all of there care as well as answer any questions I have for them. Overall I am very pleased with the experience and am thankful for the staff they have.

They really care about their residents

I can't say enough about how wonderful they have been to my mother. My mom took a fall and broke her hip and they have even come to visit her while she has been in rehab. This is such a friendly and healthy environment for my mother. All of the staff are caring and encourage her to take part in the different activities, they bring her to the main floor to be with the other residents. I know my mom is comfortable and safe in the memory unit and I would definitely recommend them, in fact, I wouldn't mind coming here when it's my turn for care.

A tour for care for mom

We toured this community for my mom's care. We liked the tour and us happy with the nice staff. The community was clean and we liked the menu and activates. My mom wanted something that was a little bigger at the time of the tour. We would recommend that families tour this community for the care of a loved one.

All is Well

My mom likes living in a safe place and her room is nice and bright. She has met some interesting people. The meals are like institutional food, she is not too impressed. But we are very happy with the community and we feel good about them. The staff are knowledgeable and paying a lot of attention to her. This community was the winner by location.

Like resort living!

I selected Paradise Village from a list of about 10 venues supplied to me by the broker at A Place for Mom. Initially, this was at the higher end of our budget but I still considered it as it came with high recommendations from the broker. After numerous phone calls and email contact with the sales admin staff, and an initial tour, my search stopped immediately and I decided on Paradise Village. Personally, I have never seen anything like Paradise Village and I am a bit sad, that I couldn't find a place similar to this for my father. As I write this, my mother has lived there for not quite one week (in Cedars Assisted Living). She is already somewhat integrated into the lifestyle there, though I am fully aware that this is a big step for everybody involved and adjustment will take time. She has a friendship suite which is something like a condo. She shares a living area and kitchen with one other lady but has her own master bedroom type home with walk in wardrobes and en suite. The room is spacious, all of her furniture from home fit nicely, the maintenance crew helped hang her numerous photos on the wall, all of her clothes are in the wardrobe, the bathroom is giant and safe. The carpet is new and the room has been fully newly painted since the last person moved out. Everybody, and I truly mean everybody, at Paradise Village is friendly, polite, well mannered, has experience speaking to the elderly, enunciates and is on time. All residences wear an alarm type necklace if they need any sort of help, even as simple as getting a book off a high shelf. Almost immediately, a care worker arrives to help them. The entire venue is like a resort. It is open, light and airy, it smells good and clean, there is sun and life. The meals are exceptionally good – in fact, I eat almost all of my meals there with my mother. There are specials every lunch and dinner, but if you do not want them you can order off an entire menu like in a restaurant. You can have half portions, mix things from different selections. I have noticed that the wait staff know all of the people's names and remember what they like so prompt them if they would like something with their meal that they forgot to order. Outside of dining hours they offer a 24/7 bistro type area with coffee cold drinks, juices, tea, and a fridge stocked with fresh sandwiches and fruit. There are about five things to do every day, besides the dining hours, if you feel like activities. So far, my mother has only played bingo – which is surprisingly a lot of fun! – and watched a couple of movies. There are movies every night! I could go on and on but I guess my take-home message would be: the owners and managers of this business are a family business and they do treat this business like a home and like family. You can see that that is very important to them. To allow the elderly to live, and not just exist.

Life after retirement 4 years ago at age 76, now 80.

I live in one of the new cottages they built last year behind the large facility. I have my own garage, 1245 sq feet, 2 bedrooms, 30 meals a month, 2 full baths with walk-in shower, my own washer and dryer inside, once a week housekeeping, a full kitchen (stove, refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher and island with place for stools) and my own private patio. I only pay rent, and if I add additional features to my TV or add a house phone, I pay for those, otherwise I do not pay for power, trash pickup, water or Gardner. I LOVE it. They are all very nice around here. I chose this place after visiting 12 other facilities, 4 in Bakersfield, 6 in Fresno and 2 in the Bay Area where I was living the last 30 years.

My husband and I visited Cherrywood Village on May 8th, 2017. We popped in unannounced and we were treated very well. [Removed], the Sales Manager, was very gracious and explained the philosophy of the community. As a family owned community, the values of the original creator, was to value and respect not only the residents but staff as well. The family owners believe giving residents respect and concern for the entire person inside and out, greatly enhances the well being and overall health and vitality. Additionally, by treating the staff with the same respect and concern helps the staff's self respect and, ultimately by feeling cared by the employers, enables the staff's compassion and care for the residents. The benefit overall is the staff retention gives a sense of stability and predictability for the residents. Because we came late in the day, we didn't see all of the campus. However, my husband and I went away very impressed by what we saw and even more you what we heard. We are moving back to Portland to be close to our family. It is an exciting time for all of us! We are researching different communities now so in 12 to 18 months, when we expect to move, the place we want will already be chosen and ready for us. Cherrywood Village is the top choice for us right now!

It is such a friendly, cheerful community. Staff is so helpful. Lovely people all around, plenty of activity choices and located in a quiet park-like environment. Couldn't be more pleased.
