My aunt has been happy at the Gencare facility. It has taken so much pressure off of my parents. I appreciate everything your team was able to offer.

Seems like there's been some front desk turn-over, not sure why. The food is ok, but on my tour it was described as "farm-to-table" and it is more like almost average diner food. The hallways, particulary...

A Place for Mom has scored GenCare with 8.8 out of 10 using our proprietary review score based on 35 reviews in the last 2 years. Over all time, GenCare has 135 reviews with an average "overall experience" of 4.1 out of 5.
Lovely walking path around the building. Well-kept grounds. Nice windows/views from dining room. Seems like quite a lot of staff turnover in kitchen since Feb, including with serving staff. Food has been really variable. Was touted as farm-to-table, but there is a lack of farm-fresh that I've seen. Very bland, commercial type cafeteria food. Salad bar is half canned things. Also, dinner service ends really early...6pm. That's tough for some folks (including my mom, who's had dinner at 7 or so her entire adult life).

It was good. They probably watched out for my dad more than they needed to before his dementia got so bad that he needed different care. The people were very friendly. I would recommend it to a friend.

I would highly recommend this community. The only downside is parking but the staff always greets everyone and knows family members of the residents. Staff is always willing to assist if there is a concern with a resident and a family member cannot arrive in time.

We've had some issues with services, but my dad has declined rapidly. Can't say for sure why, but I'm guessing he doesn't want to be there. But he wouldn't want to be in any memory care unit anywhere. I would recommend to others.

The staff was very loving towards my mother, which was great. They tried to get her to be a participant even if she couldn't participate she would be there to watch. The front desk was great. Everyone was nice sometimes communication was a little bit off, but that's hard they have a lot of residents so they're pretty busy. It's a wonderful place they have so many activities. It's unbelievable you cannot get bored there as a 40+-year-old woman I wouldn't mind living there there's so many fun things to do so if somebody's very active still or even semi-active, it's a wonderful place to be. Overall, the experience was pretty good. They were very friendly very nice. Staff was wonderful. Especially the nurses. The activities Director is wonderful. Also very thoughtful, very kind. Everybody seems to be in a pretty good mood which is hard to find that some of these facilities.. I wish mom could've stayed there longer but she needed more needs

The move in process was good. The food is good. Staff is very friendly. They clean the residents' rooms weekly. Communication with the family is great. I gave a low score on cleanliness because the hallway carpet smells like dog feces and urine. Overall, I would recommend this facility to anybody.

My loved one's were previously residents at Gencare Lifestyle Tacoma at Point Ruston and overall their experience at this facility was good. The cleanliness and friendliness were good. The care services, meals, activities and value for cost were all very good. However, there were significant issues with staff turnover at this facility. The staff turnover was particularly noticeable in the nursing care office and in food service.

I have been living here for a few years now and I really enjoy it. They have lots of activities you can attend if you want to every day. They also have many fitness classes each day, I try and attend as many as possible. I also really enjoy walking around the ballard neighborhood with the escorted walking group or by myself.

The Lodge has plenty of different activities going on for the residents, but when it comes to the meals and dining service, that is terrible. It needs major improvement - there needs to be more options to pick from. The meal items are often served cold and sometimes what they have on the menu they are out of. The servers don't really following direction either.

We really like the location and the staff to resident ratio. The move-in and welcome was great. I just wish they coordinated with Medicare for nursing services.

My loved one was cared for at this facility for awhile. It's a beautiful place. It's very clean and welcoming. The staff is very nice and warm. I just feel like it may be a better fit for Assisted Living than it is for Memory Care needs. That could just be our preference/experience. I would still recommend them to family and friends to check out and decide for themselves.

Be cautious of what they tell you when you're moving in. They told me they would evaluate me to make sure I could be at the rate I was paying. They never did that. I was in much worse shape when I first got there and thought I would be getting more care. Nobody really came in to talk to me about my health situation or what I needed, or to even check on me. I also asked them three times for the paperwork that I signed, and they never got me a copy. Basically they had me categorized as Independent Living, but it was supposed to be Assisted Living. So what management told me when I moved in is completely different than what I got out of the place. Beyond management, the rest of the staff are great. They're all very friendly - no problems there. The facility was generally clean, except the dining room tables weren't always wiped down well. The people who cleaned my room were really good. They seemed to have activities going on throughout the day if you wanted to go. But ultimately I felt like I was throwing away thousands every month. Most of the time I couldn't eat the food it was so bad. And you can't live solely on cheese burgers. 90% of the time the food was cold. And the quality really depended on which chef was cooking each meal.

If you want a community where your loved one is going to feel like they are part of a family then this is the place to bring them. I shopped around and looked at a lot of communities and here we just feel like family. They are really open and great with both of us. It is a small community and because of this the director greets us all by name and every other person and family member that the director sees. The front desk is great and they are always happy and open to everyone that comes in. They are just simply amazing. Well lit and all natural lighting and the garden is immaculate.

Everyone is friendly it is a nice atmosphere my frustration is they took away the comfortable theater seats and moved the theater upstairs in the activity center the chairs are not comfortable for a 2 hour movie and the atmosphere isn’t as good the food here is about a 3 or 4 star most of it is ok but not always but there are alternates to substitute. I am independent living so don’t use the care team but have seen the frustration of those who do because they have long waits for someone to answer the call button. This is not good if it is an emergency. I have been told they are looking into a better system and I hope that is true. Overall my experience has been good and I would recommend this place

The apartments were fairly spacious, but felt a little "institutional". Also located on a steep hill. So if there's any snow or ice, you're stuck. No transitional or memory care. While the food sounded delicious, their price only includes 2 meals a day, whereas MOST facilities provide 3.

I toured GenCare today; I met both [name removed] and [name removed]. GenCare was an older facility than others I had visited. I liked the options for organic, gluten free food, very hands on-pride themselves on a personal touch and keeping seniors physically active.
