I was not at all happy with the communication or service regarding my father. He moved in to assisted living June 1, 2015. There was never an attempt or response to getting to know the family. Unfortunately, he was admitted to the hospital August 1, 2015 and passed away on the 8th. The nursing staff never contacted either the family or hospital with regard to his condition or status. They were completely uninvolved and unconcerned about one of their residents--completely opposite of Brookdale Senior Living, where he resided before The Fountains. During this week, two of my sisters went to his apartment to retrieve legal documents and were accompanied by a nurse. The next day, a staff member contacted our attorney stating that "His family was ransacking his apartment". HUH? Talk about poor communication--it exists among themselves as well apparently. After his passing, I contacted the Executive Director and never got a call back. When my husband and I went to clean his apartment, a nurse came by to ask if we were moving. HUH? There was not one word of condolence, a card sent, not one iota of communication. EVER. I couldn't believe it. I still can't. Funny thing was, I DID hear from staff at Brookdale Senior Living after his passing. They put up a picture--he had a full page in the Business section of the Chicago Sun-Times, to announce the loss. What a difference! Those are people who really cared and were genuinely concerned and reached out in a heartfelt way. So contrary to the coldness and indifference of The Fountains.

we were impressed when we visited, staff was great. However, once mom was in there the assistance was minimal. They would help mom get to the bathroom in the morning, then leave. Would come back 20-30 minutes later and help her dress - then leave. If she rang for help they didn't always respond. Finally - 3 weeks into her new home, she had a problem with her oxygen levels and reported it to them. They left her sitting alone and finally she called me. When I arrived 20 minutes later, she was at a level of 55 still and no one was with her. I had to find the nurse to call 911. They offered excuses but NO excuse is valid for leaving her sitting alone and crying. We will move her as soon as we can, or we will have to be there with her every day. So very disappointed in their care.

Lack of staffing, stinks, my brother in law suffers in his feces because they do not come for hours. Last week, dinner was chili, he got a bowl of sauce with carrots, no beans or meat. Hot dogs, a bun with sauce, no dog. Food comes cold, and late. Sits in his feces waiting for assistance. Rooms are only cleaned once every 2 or 3 weeks. All his clothes sent to laundry, never come back. This is $[fee removed]. Per month. Not acceptable, families are afraid to report...

Unfortunately I did not find this assisted living location appropriate for my mother. Strong urine smells upon entry that carried through most of facility that I walked through. In trying to speak with the staff, no responses or eye contact. The overall facility I did not find well maintained. I have been to this facility in previous years. At that time upon entry the area was very attractive and welcoming. Staff then were very engaging and happy. Very unfortunate to how things are today.

The facility started out nice but went downhill during her short stay. The care level was not met and the odor was unbearable to the point of burning your eyes. Most of her personal items came up missing including clothes, shoes, bedding and even her cane. She will not be returning.

. Shame on this place and the so called people that run around this facility. Especially [name removed] (maybe a manager.. he would not give out his title). Me and my mother were moving our grandmother out of this facility! If you are familiar with this facility they have a bus lane and a car lane. The car lane so happens to be the one closest to the door and the bus lane is second one from the door. There so happened to be a car pulled up and PARKED no one in the car in the bus lane. Me and my mother were loading our van as I have a 8 month old with us. I had a mirror and few other glass items spread on the trailer putting stuff in the van that could not be broken. Mind you I’m in the lane that never has a bus in it. Two busses were waiting to load people. He came out and YELLED at my mother as she was handing me things as I was in the back of the van putting them neatly in. I heard him yelling as the bus drivers did as well. The bus driver actually helped while he was still going.

Make sure they have credentials for Memory Care as we had to remove my mother due to inattentive service and dementia misdiagnosis. They have kept my mom's [amount removed] deposit after only being there 3 months and had the nerve to charge her the same for the next months stay although we had her moved out a few days before the previous month.

They took a $[removed] plus deposit that they said was going to be applied to her last months bill but it wasn't. They then expected her to pay the last months bill. There were several other things they changed administrators three different times in the year and a half my mom was there The office staff was very nice and the desk staff was great but other than that a very difficult situation.

THIS PLACE IS TERRIBLE. DON'T MOVE HERE. THE FOOD IS BAD. IT'S DIRTY. THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT YOU. IT HAS BED BUGS AND ROACHES. THEY ALL LIE TO YOU. THE TURN OVER RATE IS HIGH. THE DIRECTOR IS WORTHLESS. SAYS SHE'S GOING TO MAKE A CHANGE. HA HA. BEWARE OF THIS PLACE!!!!!!!!

My mother lived in the facility from [dates removed]. The current owners purchased the facility at the end of 2024 and it has not been a positive transition. The Executive Director, who had been there for 5+ years and really made it a caring place, was fired in January. The chef who was lovely left as did others in key positions. The food quality plummeted, the public lighting in the hallways dimmed, the activities were reduced, the laundry and housekeeping became hit or miss and management was distant and unfriendly to the residents when they rarely walked the halls. Any questions or concerns voiced were unanswered as the local management has no authority and everything must be passed on to “corporate”. The answers never come. My mother’s last month’s rent for June was debited from her account in May via ACH as appropriate. However, in June, her account was again debited, either an error or? I finally had to have the bank reverse it as they would not, very disreputable.

The rave reviews are what led us to The Bardwell. We could not be more disappointed. There is no organizational leadership, a huge lack of communication among staff, and the executive director position has been vacant for months. Their biggest strength is providing broken promises. The Bardwell may have been a great place in the past, but I can assure you it currently is not.

Yes, this place is for DEMENTIA AND ALZHEIMER’S. BIT IT IS NOT FOR SENTIENT COGNIZANT SANE PEOPLE. MY SON, [name removed] PLACED ME HERE SO:HE COULD SAY “DAD IS INEPT” and he took over as POWER OF ATTORNEY and proceeded to empty my Chase Bank of $[removed] then he wouldn’t let me receive any mail, nor a cell phone. I had no knowledge of my condo my finances. TOTAL CUSTODIAL CARE AND IT IS REFLECTED IN THE HIGH RENT. When revoked [name removed] POA, DIRECTOR TOLD ME I HAVE POA or. GUARDIAN. EVERYONE IN WOMC HAS A POA or GUARDIAN. Whenever WOMC gets a SENTIENT RESIDENT they SHOWCASE them by appointing them FAMILY AMBASSADORS. WHEN family members tour WOMC they make sure to let touring families.SEE NOT ALL RESIDENTS HV DEMENTIA/ALZHEIMER’. I refuse POA/GUARDIAN. NOW DIRECTOR CALLED in Neurological/ Psychologist. [name removed] to examine me. WHY WASNT THAT DONE B4 my admission. [name removed] found [name removed] has the mental capacity and legal competence to be his own POA or GUARDIAN.

Fully investigate the Gull Creek Memory Care operation before your lived one resides there as had to pull my 91 year old mom out of there after only 2 months residency and their business manager billing for next month for not giving 30 days notice as well as keeping full deposit. Happy to share our egretful experience personally and asking Md state officials to investigate their operations especially the program. Very disappointed.

I would not recommend Glass Peaks at all! Take time and really look around at other options!

What they could improve on is doing their job and taking care of the residents that are paying their wages

Understaffed and the staff that is there isn't trained for adequate care of residents. Staff is outside smoking more than inside caring for residents. Facility isn't kept clean. Poor management. We had to hire someone to come in and provide personal care due to lack of care by staff.

The day my brother moved in the air conditioning was not working. It was set at 72 but it was 81. Two months later, the air is still not working properly. We were cleaning his place in a 84 degree room sweating (the thermostat was set at 70). We have said something to them several times and they keep telling us they will send someone to fix it. If they had to sit in that room day in and day out, I am sure it would be fixed by now. I don't believe he is getting the assistance they told us he was going to get when he moved in. There are some people that are nice to talk to but unfortunately the facility falls short on providing the assistance they claim to do.

We were very dissatisfied with Cedar Grove they use to be a very good place to stay they will tell you that they will do all kinds of stuff to help your family member and talk very nice to you but the care that they get is very minimal you pay alot of money to be taken care of they just try to fill a room but don't take care of the residents like they are supposed to and beware there is a cleaning fee not cheep upfront and then when you take your family member out and you will if you care about them they will charge you another month so good luck we have had better luck in Ohio

My husband did not belong there since his memory was not nearly bad enough at that time. However they just wanted to fill a space so it didn't matter to them. My husband is now in assisted living and doing very well. So much happier.

I was disappointed to discover that the facility wasn't truly handicapped accessible until after move in. We had to take doors off of bedrooms to fit wheelchairs through. They came to rehab and personally assessed my parents and said that they could take care of my dad, but then they were not set up for his needs. We ended up doing most of his care. We were working on moving them when my father died.
