A comfortable well cared for facility. The executive director is outstanding in her ability to keep on top of the many directives during the pandemic. Under normal circumstances many programs and activities.

Everything is working out very well with my mothers move to this community. She is doing well, and I'am comfortable with her move here. The staff is great. They have been very kind, and polite. They have many resources available for the residents. They have an exercise room, computer room, and a library. They have a nice bistro, and she is very pleased with meals. The community is very well-kept. They do a great job with the cleanliness. This is a community I would definitely recommend, it's a great place.

This community was clean when we visited. The staff were helpful and friendly. There were additional nursing service available through a nursing service, however this did seem a little complicated. This community was a little more expensive than the community we chose.

We toured, and ended selecting, this community for our loved one. We looked at quite a few, and we thought this one was very nice overall! It is clean and well kept, and the staff are friendly. I do think they could do a better job with the food, however.

We really hit it off with Holly the director and got a great feeling about the community. A lot of smiling faces, music and dancing when we visited. Talked with several residents who had lived there in the range of 9-12 years. More men in evidence than usual. We left a deposit to get on the waiting list for a 2BR apartment. On the other hand, the rooms were undistinguished, although they had a nice balcony with goof view. Hallways were narrow and confined looking. Facility showed some normal wear.

That was lovely but she had too much freedom. She really needed more care than we could get there, she needed somebody to give her medications. You could get the extra services but they were very expensive. We were just getting by as far as her finances and then with the added cost of somebody giving her medications and she was in the habit of not going down for meals so we had to pay someone to go and take her down. There were a lot of activities that we were paying for that she never really used either, but she's never really been a joiner. A lot of people were wealthy and got dressed up for dinner and she got all paranoid that they were looking down their noses at her so she didn't want to go down for dinner and we'd have to pay for her to get lunch instead. It was a lovely place but it just didn't work for her.

You may get less than what you or your family are paying for: - AMENITIES -- some of the amenities you are paying for may be suspended/not provided whenever there is a holiday (Thanksgiving, Independence day, MLK Day, Juneteenth, Veterans' day [date removed]. - TIPPING FUND -- You may be asked to contribute so that the employees have money to go shopping at Christmas time. CASH ONLY please. Last year, I contributed $[removed][in cash]. forgot to ask for a receipt and never was given one. Never was told either how much was collected, (but at the dinner table a woman exclaimed: "They never tell you!" ) nor how it was distributed. Yet, it would be nice to know what percentage of my contribution went to those who do the actual work (the foootsoldiers), and how much to their supervisors or others. One very nice thing at Brookhaven, though: there are nurses on location -- kind nurses, and for an additional $[removed]per month, they can be your 'first responders" in case you fall.

I was not impressed with our tour from Brookhaven Manor and I did not hear much from them after.

I toured only the outside of the facility and concluded that the exterior upkeep was lacking and unacceptable and quite possibly reflective of the type of care my loved one could expect.

Brookhaven Manor is a clean, well kept, very attractive facility, and the staff all seem very friendly and professional. However it just hasn't been a very good fit for me. The average age of the residents is very high, and I am on the younger side myself so this has made things a bit difficult socially. The activity directors here are very nice people, and they work hard, but due to the age of the population there just aren't many people participating. I've also been disappointed with the food, it's all just been a lot of salt and fat, and all of the snacks they have available are cakes and cookies. Many of the residents really seem to love it here, but I just don't feel like it is a good fit for me.

Horrible facility. New manager as of [date removed]. Never there, does not address issues, doesn't know anything. Rude office staff, boring activities, mean kitchen staff. Food is terrible and minimal menu. Nothing good about this place.
