Middle of the road

There is virtually no parking. The food is mediocre at best. The laundry service would be a three to a four. The best redeeming quality is that the staff is very friendly.

It was fine, the units were small and you didn't get as much space for your money. It was also multi-story, so you had to ride elevators, and we didn't like that.

20 resident within memory care unit community, but part of larger Assisted Living community. Integrates with A.L. community. Outings once a week. Will take Medicaid diversion if eventually needed but would be in semi-private room. Nursing staff available 24/7. Drs come to community. Transportation within 10 mile radius for other doctors but requires private aid to go. Rehab staff available. Unfurnished, no refrigerator

Residents need more stimulation. Too much sitting and tv watching. Nurses need to be out checking on patients instead of in the office chatting.

We looked at it and liked it as far as aesthetics, but the atmosphere was cold, not from the staff, but from the residents. After the tour and seeing how the people were, we had lunch there and requested to have lunch with the president of the residents council. She pretty much confirmed what we saw that people are pretty crabby and not friendly. We had made an appointment for the tour, but when we got there, the woman was not even in town. The activities director gave the tour, part time guy. Finally, the manager came to apologize. After we left, they never called if me to find out if we made a decision. I never got a call from anyone, I thought that was very odd.

Salesman was not truthful. The care was mostly good. I was there daily & I feel they could tried to engage him some activities given that I informed them of some. People were given ice-cream an hour before dinner. Not smart.

facility needs improvement and care didn't meet expectations

I've moved my mother to a different facility. In my observation the weakest point of all assisted living are the care providers. Atrium weren't well supervised, under staffed over worked and not very motivated in their responsibilities. Once you need more care they encourage you to get private providers for that service. As for the facility it's old and in need of repair and refurbishing. They don't keep the rooms clean. Or not cleaned often enough even with notification to the issues. There were insect infestations in the room and leaks in the facility that they're finally investing in fixing because it was damaging resident rooms. You get what you pay for. The facility my mother is in now is much cleaner and modernized but we pay for it.

Needs improvement

The Sterling started out great but has gone downhill this last year. We heard it was sold. There’s a new Director and Chef. We were just given a [fee removed]/ Mo increase as well, so I’m considering another option.

Review for The Sterling Aventura

I would never recommend this place to anyone. Lack of appropriate staff. Very difficult to obtain any type of answers to important questions No monitoring of care specified on contract Meds not administered correctly several times to our family member and others - witnessed for other patients as well Patients not cleaned - our father was in and out of hospital with UTI's several times. We had to constantly request for him to be cleaned. Patient's supplies and clothing disappeared constantly and laundry not returned

Disappointing

What started out to be a solution to a concerning situation became a nightmare. Everything that was suppose to be provided to my family member to insure safety and well being was not. After awhile it became quite clear that this was not the right place for someone who needed supervision in many of the daily tasks like showering, and other activities that needed assistance for safety purposes. There are no emergency bells or telephones in the rooms. No one encourages them out for activities. And I believe lack of monitoring residents is a big safety concern. I really saw not much assistance with anything.

False Advertising

I would tell others that memory care is not at all what they advertise. They really don't have any programs to assist with memory care activities. They don't take the residents outside to enjoy the outdoors. It is not something I would recommend. I would suggest you look around before coming before to the community.

Clean but unhappy

For anyone looking into Bradenton Oaks, I would want them to know that the tech nurses do not know what they are doing. They were confused about medication for my father and they were 90% of the time unfriendly. A lot of their medicines went out of stock especially on weekends and holidays. The food was awful, everything tasted like it was out of a box and watered down. I would recommend only if you understood the above issues.

This was our lowest-rated of the five comparably priced Assisted Living facilities we visited. This may have been the lowest priced by about $[removed], so it may be the budget-friendly choice, and I can't blame anyone who needs to consider it for those reasons, but if you must be in West Palm at this price, there is at least one other option, so be sure to look around. The seafood bisque was amazing, definitely the best food we were served at any facility overall. But that was the most we could say for this facility. There was no public space except the lobby, from what we could see - residents were just sitting (or open-mouth napping, sitting up) in the lobby. For some who wouldn't use recreational areas or movie theater rooms, it could be fine. We were turned off by the condition of the facility more than anything: the wallpaper was peeling off the walls in the resident hallways and my shoes were sticking to the carpet on the second floor. Stains appeared to go unscrubbed in carpets and on walls. There was also a large broken hole in the wall at the doorway of a staged example apartment we were shown. This did not seem like putting your best foot forward, in any way. There did not appear to be outdoor space. The road in front of the facility was fast and noisy. What we needed was a more vibrant community than what we saw. This is likely a solid choice for loved ones who will be transitioning to skilled nursing in the near future. For those who need some assistance but intend to continue to strive to stay young in mind and body as long as they can, there are more vibrant, newer facilities with lots of amenities in the area at an only slightly higher cost.

This place was very dirty! Floors were awful, grounds not attractive. The Managed Care Neighorhood was better, as they are currently going through a remodel with fresh paint, new furniture, etc. Staff ignored me until I found someone to ask for my appointment, who wasn't there on time. I did like the activities she described, and those who were living there seemed satisfied. However, no longer interested in anywhere outside of Sun City FL.
