They need to clean the residents rooms on a schedule and better than they are doing. We have to ask them to clean and shouldn't have to. We've seen cockroaches in my Mom's room. I was also told there were cockroaches in the kitchen but have not seen this personally. They told me they've sprayed for them. Most of the caregivers are really good and caring towards the residents, but there are a few that are not very friendly or helpful when the residents ask for assistance. They could use more training in these cases. They do put together wonderful dinners for the residents on holidays and that's very much appreciated. They have also begun serving better meals for the residents. They're nutritious and flavorful and the residents say they taste very good and that's huge because there's not much more they have anything to look forward to so a good meal is very important.

My mom is relatively happy there. She is always concerned when the staff changes, which it does often. The food is a mixed bag, either absolutely delicious or inedible (according to her). The activity director is absolutely wonderful. She keeps the residents entertained. We really appreciate the small size, it affords the residents to easily forge relationships with each other and the staff.

I just visited my sister and she told me that last week they served them octopus for lunch!!! She was disgusted!! Everyone in dinning area did not like it or ate it! Please report that! She basically does not like the food except breakfast!

Some staff are not well trained or experienced. Administrators did not follow through with commitments after my mother passed and we moved out. I would recommend this facility as long as it is right for the individuals needs. The staff are really nice.

Quality of food - need more fresh foods & less packaged foods like fruit & vegetables and backup food choices if the resident doesn't like the planned meal .Pay the caregivers more instead of the administrators . Clean the rooms regularly without the resident having to ask

The staff is accommodating and the tenants are friendly. The van being down was a slight inconvenience. Yes, we would recommend this community to other families.

Very costly but hopefully in line with other such facilities. Smaller number of residents is good. Be helpful for staff to identify themselves when we call. We were attracted to them because of the room availability and location relatively close to family. I would recommend to others.

There are a couple of CNA that have taken great care of dad. A new administrator was hired in October and everything changed. The current administer is does not really care about clients. She is manipulative and tends to shade the truth.

Very positive! It's a friendly place and well run. Highly recommended! We picked this community because of the affordability.

Sometimes, the maid skimps on cleaning the shower. Many times, eggs, bacon, sausage, or Canadian bacon not included for breakfast. Only protein served is yogurt. There were supposed to be movie nights once a week, but that hasn't happened. The shuttle won't take [name removed] to the nearby Gold's Gym. The shuttle isn't always working. We feel it's a good value for the cost, but we still don't like the fact that breakfast served there is not that nutritious or good for residents with blood sugar problems. [name removed] has a medicine that affects her blood sugar. The breakfast there has too many carbs. On the positive side, we got my friend [name removed] to move to New Forest Haven in [date removed]. He likes it and has another friend there [name removed] who also moved there recently. Yes, We recommended New Forest Haven to [name removed], and he moved there. His friend [name removed] heard about [name removed] recommendation, and she moved there.

They are very good with the residents and are very understanding. They treat the residents with respect and are very caring. They could also make some improvements on the food.

My mom's overall experience at New Forest Haven Assisted Living has been good. [Name removed] is an outstanding and caring Director. The CNAs and other staff are good to great. I have found the Assisted Living building to be well cared for, comfortable and clean. Everyone has been welcoming and friendly. The food is just okay, but I think New Forest Haven is aware of this. My mom's studio apartment is nice and the level of care has been refreshing. New Forest worked to create a plan that was affordable.

There has been quite a turnover of staff but that can be expected from the sale of the facility right before our move. And in the process there has been updating and remodeling of the facility. They are still in the process and the main areas are nice. Apartment size is bigger than other studios. The apartments themselves have not been updated this time yet. Amenities are getting better. Pool, family room, they added a new area in the dinning room for happy hour/gatherings.

Our overall experience has been good. I like the idea of someone always being there to watch them 24/7. also, this place is not that big and I like that. They have great family get together parties almost every month, which is a nice. I picked this community because it was close to where I live. The other communities I looked at were more expensive and they did offer some more stuff like exercise rooms, etc. but this is a good place for the money.

I like the floor plan of my apartment, my pets like it here (dog and cat). There's room for improvement in some areas, but there is an effective renter's association to facilitate recommendations. I like the location in relation to the VA hospital.

We find the Executive Director and the Social Director excellent in engaging with the residents. The housekeeping could be better. Mom has a little throw rug that hasn't ever been cleaned (I used a vacuum on it that was left outside of her apartment once). The laundry isn't done as regularly as may be needed. I've had to point out dirty clothes that Mom has tucked here and there. All in all, we are pleased. We would recommend New Haven to others.

What our family likes the most about the New Haven Assisted Living community is the smallness of it as well as the layout. We really like the staff members that work there as well as the overall care that is provided for the residents. Based on the experience we have had so far, we would recommend this community to other families

I loved that they cooked the meals and cookies right there in the middle of the home where everyone could see and smell. It never smelled like a nursing home. I would recommend to others.

My loved one is currently a resident at New Forest Haven in Independent Living and overall the experience has been very good for her so far. The staff and the residents are all so very nice and helpful. The move in process was easy. They do need more consistency with the housekeeping. Overall, I would recommend New Forest Haven to others. My mom's apartment is very nice.

During the first months. However, recently the facility was purchased by new. Company and residents report that staff have resigned and food services have declined. Lack of trained staff and supplies have caused problems with transportation and quality of meals. Patients report being served fast food type meals in boxed containers. Hopefully these problems can be resolved and residents won't have to move out.
