Caldwell house has so many issues! First off they pay there employees incredibly low! Aides make barely over minimum wage which results in high turn over. They are currently using a staffing agency because they cannot keep staff. Your loved one will also have different people caring for them. The Nurses are the same way. LOW LOW PAY. Again resulting in high turnover. They don't keep people longer than 3 months!!!! The Director ([Removed]) is new to the position and has no previous experience. Tons of management people have been fired since she took over. The staff is scared of her because they never know if its there last day. Families are constantly frustrated because billing is wrong. Food is horrible. House is dated. Rodents are constantly in the house. (You'll notice an abundance of rat traps throughout the community) Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. This community has been going downhill for quite sometime.

My grandmother has been living at Parkside Manor for about 3 months now, and we out very disappointed with the facility. She has dementia as well as Parkinson's disease, and has not been given her medication on more than one occasion. Keep in mind this is a memory care facility. With the exception of a few wonderful staff members, it seems every time we visit most of the staff members are just hanging out talking to each other, rather than taking care of patients. I personally have had to help residents because no one else was paying attention. We have also been lied to about the frequency of showers my grandmother receives, when it was apparent that the shower has not been touched. Same goes for the brushing of her teeth. She has had numerous items of clothing or linen go missing (they are all labeled with her name) and no effort has been made to find them. Recently, we found that the staff were using one of my grandma's own pillow cases to cover her catheter bag, and when brought to their attention, they were extremely rude about the situation. If this wasn't enough, we walked into her room to find and open container of urine sitting on her dresser, 3 feet from her bed. Who knows how long it had been sitting there. I'm sorry, but that is highly unprofessional and disgusting. It seems that decent care and cleanliness is not too much to ask for when paying a generous amount each month. It's a shame that my mother feels like a bother when asking for my grandmother to be better cared for. Although a few of the staff members are phenomenal and very caring, it is very apparent that many of the workers do not enjoy being there. I am very disappointed in the care we are receiving in such a high ranked facility.

We visited this community when we were looking into care options for a loved one. I was no happy with this place at all, based on what I saw. The facility was old and outdated, and not well maintained at all. It was dirty enough that I would not even consider it as an option.

Yes, it's clean, but that's only what it has going for them. If you are looking to put your parent(s) into a locked hotel, than this is your place. They honestly do not have what it takes to be what they are selling. Not enough staff. A lot of staff in offices. Not enough staff that are not in offices, but if that's what you're looking for this is it. Be smart and really choose a different place!

It's been terrible. There are some that are friendly and some that are rude. Their staff is completely incompetent. They have no idea what they are doing. They aren't very attentive and don't communicate when medication runs out or is misplaced, and don't administer the medication when they are supposed to the way they are supposed to. We have had nothing but problems with meds, they have no idea what they are doing. I would give them a zero for care services if I could. If there is a person who is not with itn they should not go there. There is no way to get feedback if you are not going to get it from your relative. The food is terrible. I saw a couple of dishes and they didn't look so great, he says it's awful. I would not give them any more than a two for food. They have no one running the place. The person in charge is in Florida. The executive director is no longer there and so there is nobody in charge in the state of Michigan.

When our representative visited she was given a tour and treated well. She really liked the place. After we arranged for my aunt to visit, the entire atmosphere was changed. My aunt was treated with disdain, and told that there was no place for 'her'. It was no mean feat having her visit and we tried to prescreen these places. Her treatment upset her, and all of us. Not impressed at all!!

I toured with Randall Residence and they completely ghosted me. They kept talking about how much care my dad would need and I think they just did not want to deal with him. All they had to do was call me and tell me no, I was very disappointed with how they handled the whole situation.

I would say to avoid this community and not to use it unless you want o kill your family member. The staff are not knowledgeable and they can not care for the level of patients that they accept. They withhold information and there is not a nurse on staff to monitor the patients and we never met with a physician. The accounting department is also very rude.

I made arrangements to move my mom to Encore after a sudden onset of dementia. They accepted her after being discharged from the hospital, and I thought this was going to be the right place. However, within 24 hours, they had sent her back to the hospital because she was trying to leave. They were not equipped to handle this behavior. She spent the next 8 days in the hospital because their condition for return of no one-on-one in the hospital could not be met. You can't leave a memory loss patient in a general hospital ward without one-on-one because my mom would have left the hospital, even in her hospital gown. After the impasse, I moved her to another facility that was better able to work with her and help get her adjusted to her new home. So now my mom has paid for service not provided - and they refuse to provide a refund - and hospital services that were not needed. DON'T GO HERE! And there is no outside environment unless you call a screened-in porch outside.

My dad was a resident for over 6 years. We loved the place until the current director took over. She is very unprofessional, uncaring and incompetent. The staff most are nice, but are untrained. I have many stories from the last few months but will tell the worst. On [date removed] my dad fell and went to the er. The nurse in the er informed me that Fox Point called and said he was no longer allowed back. My dad was never late on a payment, was a well liked 95 year old blind WWII vet. While going through my dad’s box of medication that they were giving him I found urefrigerated, expired and someone else’s medication.

We have been trying to see our grandmother and they are requiring appointments to bring her to the window so we can see her. They said she is only allowed to "visits", which is also including a phone call every week. They currently have limited activities due to covid, which is understandable, but should be encourage window visits and phone calls to residences to keep moral high during these tough times.

Do not place your loved one here! The staff (if that's what you call it is horrible, starting foremost with the Director [name removed]). She is cold and shouldn't be in this type of business, she has no personal skills when it comes to the residents. If asked to help an aid, she will straight up deny the help saying "she is busy or where is the other aid" The night shift is short staffed, and for the overnight shift, the director does nothing about the aides that sleep at night leaving all of the work to 1 person!

I would not recommend this facility to anyone. The staff is poorly trained and unkind to residents.

Parkside Manor changed management around the beginning of 2019 and the facility has suffered tremendously from it. I cannot recommend this facility. Promises were made to transition residents who ran out of money to Community Care (Medicaid), and those promises are not consistently being kept. Management doesn't accept phone calls and does not respond to messages left. Furniture in the common areas smells of urine. Most residents appear unhappy. Staff appears overworked and unhappy. Virtually 100% turnover of caregivers in the past six months. At this point in time, Parkside Manor is not a good place to live.

Several occasions when my family member used the pull cord to call for assistance and staff took several minutes or not at all to respond. A few times when leaving Bickford (memory care) we had forgotten to use our key fob and the alarm sounded. The alarm is supposed to notify staff so that residents with memory care issues don't leave unsupervised--it took up to 15 minutes before any staff member responded. My family on several occasions when we would seek out a staff member either we couldn't find one (especially on weekends) or when we did find someone they were on their cell phones. My family would also find our loved ones pills on the floor in the apartment. We continually reported our concerns to management staff and yet nothing changed. We were very unhappy and would not recommend Bickford of Maplewood

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about the Bickford. Nice faculties, great food, but most of all wonderful staff. Unfortunately my mom passed not long after she moved in but she was so happy and appreciative of the wonderful care she received.

At the contract signing we were assured by senior staff that when my Mother's money ran out there would be no trouble to go on Medicaid. Guess what? All of a sudden when my mother's money is down to about 6 months and after about 70,000.00 there's no medicaid beds and they don't have any idea that there ever will be. Good at taking your money and when that's gone so are you.

DO NOT - I repeat, DO NOT move your loved one in there! My mother was there 6 months and she had UTI's, I would go there and find heavily soiled diapers in the bathroom garbage that stunk horribly. It took forever for somebody to come when you pull the call light. My mother said nobody ever checked on her. The didn't clean the feces off the wall in the bathroom by the TP holder. The laundry was horrible. My mother broke her hip and they left her for 2 days before they did anything. I had to ask what was wrong with my mother to get them to do anything! I got an attorney and sue'd them. they paid out without much arguement. And it's true - there are hardly any activities for the residents. They should be shut down!

Staff is RUDE and LAZY. Facility is dirty , especially the disgusting dining room. Food gets served and staff disappears, leaving your loved one ( who may need extra help ) on their own, for over 30 minutes ( including the facilities director ). Dangerous if one of the residents were to choke or fall. Dishes Are DIRTY and staff doesn't care to provide clean ones. If your loved one is too sick to go to the dining room , they may or may not get a meal. Just depends on whether you want to pay an extra fee to have an aide take it to them ( at $3,700 a month , I guess thats NOT enough money to take a simple meal to someone who is sick ). And if your loved one is sick, good luck getting a nurse or an aide to check on them. And as for laundry , you may get it done once a month !! Seriously, this place isn't fit for a dog. Not ONE staff member is friendly , NOT ONE !! PLEASE , reconsider before placing your loved one here. Don't fall for the fake smile and the smoke they blow, they just want your money. They don't care about your loved one AT ALL!!
