Our main concern – was that our loved one got wet, there wasn’t anyone to help her go to the bathroom in a timely manner. Barb was fabulous – the staff was great. For someone with more mobility it could be a great community.

Positives: Nice facility, meals great. Negatives: cost, no availability

Positives: Very nice facility. Clean, friendly staff, great location. Corner room was bright and cheerly (middle room was a little dark) Negatives for our particular situation: Care was full assisted living which is more than we need at this time. We need a facility that allows us to only pay for what is needed and add additional services when they become necessary. Cost ($5875 for two) is on the very upper end of my parents financial threshold.

We're not really happy specifically with what my grandma is getting, I'm sure for other people the care might be different but she's not as bad off as some of the other people so I think she's getting ignored because there's so many peopel there who require more attention and focus. I don't think she's getting enough care and I don't think the staff is as attentive as the said they would be. We thought it would be such a good fit because she has memory loss and that's where their focus is but she's too high functioning so she kind of falls between the cracks but she still needs queueing and help with her ADLs. We haven't really gotten any headway with them, we're pretty much at the point where we're looking at other places.

The cost is pretty high but the care is where I have problems. Sometimes I think it could be better. They have enough activities if they want to participate but unfortuantely my husband doesn't want to. I think they could get more help so they could take care of the residents better and give them more attention. I looked at other places and I went with this one because I thouhgt the cost was more reasonable and it was bigger.

Smaller facility and rooms. Where facility is located felt a little secluded.

This was just OK. My Dad puts this third on the list. Not sure why, he didn't feel 'at home'.

Tour emphasis was on the programs offered. Having chef prepared meals was nice. I didn't see a lot of interaction with the residents though.

I called her Monday. Impressed with place, not impressed with her.

Nice, try to accommodate all levels of care needs. Didn't see a lot of male reisdents. Does accept pets.

Staff to patient ratio is still poor. Bickford needs to weed out the care staff that are not doing their jobs. Recently I showed up on a Sat. I had to wear a mask the smell was so bad. The hall was littered with papers and stuff, the dining room table was a mess. My dad was still in his bed at 11:45 am and everything was soaking wet. He had no P'J's on, and was awake staring at the ceiling, clutch his diaper that was half off. There was a shift change at this time. The people responsible for this action, rather inaction should be fired. They threw wet diapers in my dad's waste basket instead of bringing them to the appropriate container. I hope Bickfords read this, I'm sure they will. Is this how you allowed your mother Mary to be cared for? I did talk to staff that day immediately in fact I raised my voice and was angry. My father has been an upright, decent, moral, hard working business man his entire life. He is someones husband, father, son, brother, uncle, friend. Most of all he is GOD'S Child. Bickford, you better change what is going on in this place, next time I'm calling the health department and maybe the TV stations here in MN. There are some wonderful aids who work here but they are only as good as the owners! I would rather see my father in heaven then have to live here. If you are going to visit, don't make an appt . they change it all and give everyone the head's up. Do it without letting them know, then you will see for your self. Also, go on a few different occasions, not just once during the week.

We did not like this community. There was a constant smell of urine and it didn't appear as clean as other communities we had visited. I just felt like something was off I didn't get a very good feeling while we were there.

I was not impressed with this place what so ever and would not want my mother living in this type of environment. During my tour I had just noticed that it was a really depressing atmosphere and the residents in the memory care unit where just kind of left not doing anything. These people need to be treated like people not items.

Looked at Hickory Park,we arrived during the evening meal. We were surprised to see the number of wheel chairs at the tables, and more being pulled and pushed in Looked more like a nursing home that an assisted living facility.

Family took a tour. not impressed, needs a good cleaning inside and out. Carpet torn and need of cleaning.

Caldwell House in Troy had several internal problems while my loved one was there. The ENTIRE staff changed over and everything was chaotic for several months. Their billing system was hard to understand and seemed inaccurate. Staffing on weekends and holidays was poor, especially for those residents who needed assistance with dressing and toilet needs. The food was nothing to write home about. The staff seemed to be trying but they were understaffed most days. I would not recommend this facility.

We have had lots of mishaps, falls and missing belongings. They work hard, but I think there just isn't enough staff. They are very friendly and caring, but I just haven't had the best experience here.

My husband is in the late stages pf Parkinsons Alzheimers. They said they would be able to take really great care of him, but within a few weeks he was dehydrated and in the hospital. He ended up having to go to the hospital, and afterwards I could not take him back there. I never saw anyone encouraging him to drink water and do other things needed to care for his condition. He needed more care than they could provide. I left there feeling like they just wanted to get the sale, and not really deliver on the care. It might be a good place for someone who is more independent, but it was not a good place for my husband.
