Older facility, dark and unattractive, and smelled extremely bad. Did accept Medicaid, however, and seemed adequately staffed.

Had To Move Out

This community does not have enough staff to keep a good eye on my husband. I told the staff but they were unable to fully watch him.He fell a few times here. The staff are nice people.

I toured this community while looking into care options for a loved one. This seemed like a nice enough place in terms of the care provided and the friendliness of the staff, but I just didn't think it looked as nice as some other options that I had seen in the area.

Review of The Villas at Sunset Bay Alzheimer's / Memory Care in New Port Richey, FL

My in-laws moved to Villas from Atria so my father-in-law could receive memory care. Mom is independent but was in the same room with dad. She were not happy with the situation since there weren't any other residents for mom to associate with. They especially did not like the food. They moved out in about 6 weeks back to an Atria.

no private rooms

We toured this facility after we toured Spring Oaks. This one has 1/3 more residents. It seemed a little older and less bright than the other one we visited. A private room was not an option here. The assisted living residents only outside option was out the front door. The enclosed outside area could only be accessed from the memory care community. However, we do know one of the residents here and she is quite happy and wanted us to move our mother in there also but we chose not to.

Do not recommend

The biggest complaint my parents had was the food. I ate there a couple times and it was no good at all. The elevators were broken a lot. There were water leaks often. Bugs in the rooms. Strong sewer smells downstairs. The bus doesn't have handicap access. Just an overall bad experience.

Great sell but then left floundering

My mother in law did not stay very long at Elevated Estates Edwinola community as she was back in rehab after just a couple of weeks. She had a fall and we were never able to ascertain why she was not able toget help during the night.

There's a lot of maintenance needed at Elevated Estates Edwinola (water leaks, AC/heat out for days, spotty internet for TV, confusion over medication management, elevators out of service, awful food, community bus does not accommodate walkers or wheelchairs etc). Just all in all, a bad experience. I would not recommend Elevated Estates Edwinola to others.

Our families experience

Areas this community could improve on to better the experience would be to have regular eating times for the residents, as well as changing our loved ones clothes each day. The bathing however was good. At the moment we would not recommend this community to other families based on the experience we have had so far.

Steer Clear

My loved one was previously a resident at Elevated Estates Edwinola and our experience at this facility was not a good one. If safety were one of the ratings, I would rate it at zero. The cleanliness and friendliness were okay. The staff and value for cost were poor. The care services and the meals and dining were terrible. I really wouldn't recommend Elevated Estates Edwinola to anyone. I wish it had been better, but it just wasn't.

Disappointing

This facility has been so disappointing, the director has been rude to a dear friend who has been helping me with my mom. Now she is so hurt she feels she can not go back to see my mom. My mom is 101 years old, I'm 80, disabled an can not do a lot for mom, Mom is blind and deaf has a walker needs a lot of help. This friend is so hurt that she is crying. The food at this facility is horrible, one aid in particular seems to be a trouble maker and should be replaced. I had so much hope with this place , such a disappointment.

Good activities bad staff

The employees lie to you a lot because it does not make it very great. I had a lot of misinformation. This is a cute community but it is hard to deal with. They have activities like yoga classes, work out classes, church, bingo and more for the residents. They also have someone that comes in to do activities with them which is nice.

Do not moved your loved ones here. Make sure to read their reviews on websites. My loved one fell and they do not know how or when and they do not have an incident report written up. The director is unprofessional and rude and it was not a good experience at all.

Concerned and confused

I am a friend of a resident, I have to say the place is beautiful, but certain staff are rude and take there staff for granted , the maintince man [removed] I heard talking to his staff I couldn't understand why I saw him screaming at one employee. She was holding her hand and left in tears as I stood in shock, for him to be so angry and yell makes me worry about my Friend. It's unexceptable to me to see a hard worker leave in tears but to yell down the hall I'm done with you wow, I see alot when I'm here but this took the cake. I think someone needs to do something about his anger and the way he talks. Other than that I'm pleased to say it's a great place, well keot, and clean food good but management needs to learn these are people too. I really feel bad for the girl , also I had just told art what. A great job she does on his room

The .5 in my overall rating is only because of certain estaff members but I wouldn't trust Forest Oaks to watch my dog! Residents wander around in dirty clothing, there are no activities except bingo and pokeno, management is more concerned with making money, "3 chef prepared meals" yet the chef is only there one day out of the entire week, the nurse and her assistant are late daily and don't have time to speak with the family, unlicensed resident aids are really the ones in charge of the residents and managament have also been overheard speaking negatively about residents and their families. If you care about youre family members well-being don't send them to Forest Oaks!

Communication issues

My mother was there 48 hours. I got a call that she’d left. The building and the sheriffs department had to be called. She slipped out the door with some visitors. Then the doctor prescribed her medication. She was addicted to for 35 years after I told them 45 minutes of a history of this. Then I find out from her roommate things that are going on with her health and I am not informed! I had to diagnose that she had shingles one day sending a picture to the doctor, and my mother was in a wheelchair never has been when I saw her that day. I started asking questions come to find out. She was dangling out of three-story window and broke her ribs and that is why she was in the wheelchair. I immediately found a new place! Do not refer this place at all, this is a sad ordeal!! Am just glad to have my mother back in my arms again??

Our experience

My main concern for the residents that are still there is the fact that none of the emergency pull switches that are located near the bed if the resident needs assistance are disconnected and I ask them and their reply was "the resident s kept calling them. My husband had a problem with his chair and kept calling for help so when no one came he called 911 which I guess embarrassed them so then he was not allowed to have his phone. There were not enough staff members to have three floors open. One night I left it was about 8pm and there was no one at the front desk to let me out so it took me about 30 minutes to get out because no one was there and they would not answer their phones.
