I would highly recommend The Gardens at Park Balboa. The staff is always so nice. I think my mom's only complaint is that she wishes the activities were more varied.

I'd highly recommend that others explore The Terraces for their loved ones or themselves. It's warm, friendly and down to earth.

mostly women, only 2 or 3 couples. That's a nonstarter. Only 750 sq ft units. Too small.

We picked this community, because the staff seemed nice.Room was good size and had good view and there's outdoor space. Price was less than some. Food was good too. The staff over promises a lot as to what care they can provide. They do not check on residents regularly or alert the family if resident appears ill or in decline. The facility is worn, the rugs and furniture are old and haven't get. Replaced in a long time despite the hefty community fee. The transportation is often not available and they do not accompany residents to their dr appointment, they leave them in the curb to get there on their own. There were some nice people there. Not a lot of activities.

My father was in a skilled nursing facility and was to be moved to the Terraces. The Community Relations Director, [name removed], took a deposit of $[removed]from my family with a contract reading "Deposit is fully refundable should prospective resident not move into the Terraces." My father died before he could move in and they refused to return the full deposit. They sent. $[removed]of the money and will not return phone calls nor will the corporate leaders in Northern California. Their contract clearly outlines a process that has to be completed before your parent is accepted. They did not honor that process and kept the money.

There have been allegations about food tampering without residents knowledge or consent. The food is poor quality as well. Meat is tough and soup watery. They use romaine lettuce and this is the one that always gets the recall for contamination. Directors change frequently and residents are asked to sign a waiver as to possible lead contamination. A rating is required but my real opinion is a minus rating! The staff is nice unless a resident has complaints. Then they may become disoriented and feeling poorly after their meal.

We first visited The Park's at Baboa no the fourth of July weekend. I was extremely impressed with the staff. The information that they were able to give us was fantastic. My mom and dad have since moved in and the quality of care they receive is more than I ever expected.I would highly recommend them to anyone who needs this kind of help.
