I would say this is a fairly average facility and would recommend them as an option. I could not highly recommend them given my comments and ratings on other areas. My father was first admitted to a another facility, but he tried to break out of the building his first night and they shared they could not support him and this facility was known for working with more challenging patients. My main criterion is is my dad happy there and he is however he does have very bad dementia. But he likes the staff and they like him and at this point in his life I am satisfied with their level of service.

Had much more of the traditional nursing home feel - felt like a nursing facility, not a home.

I did not like Courtyard Manor of Fenton much at all. To me it felt like a nursing home and all of the residents that we saw were in wheelchairs and needed a lot more care than my loved one does. The outside was pretty but the inside not so much...they needed a lot of updates.

The Director, [name removed] is wonderful and we feel she tried very hard to meet our needs. To place someone in a memory care facility the expectation would be for staff to be well versed in an array of memory care activities. Unfortunately, this was not our experience at all. At our insistence the Director ensured our request for the resident to walk around the yard whenever necessary-at least 3 times per day was met. Had we not made this request he literally would have spent the entire day alone in his room. As for dietary, the food is very poor which was immediately surprising and disappointing. After expressing our concerns, once again the director intervened. There were three individuals who we felt provided genuine outstanding care and concern and they were [names removed]. They were simply wonderful and they genuinely cared about their patient's welfare. Aside from these three individuals, our experience with anyone else was the complete opposite. Blatant dishonesty and rudeness was common.

I would not recommend it for people who are memory care. Independent living or maybe bed bound only. The layout is ideal. The actual follow through on meds, care, food is not effective or secure in process for needs. I get the feeling that there is lip service and no real value placed on most energy spent to implement tasks against their built in challenges. I was ready to pull her out of there and her subsequent constipation caused her death.

This community was too small and I did not care about the set up for dinning. It was Too small and felt like people were just laying around in chairs and sleeping not the environment I felt like my loved one would like.

When we walked in for our tour we immediately knew this was not going to be the place for our loved one. It felt very small and cramped, the rooms were tiny. It just had a very institutional feel to it.

If we could give Courtyard Manor of Farmington Hills a 0 we would. Not a good experience. In the 3 weeks that my husband was there he had an eye infection, multiple cuts and bruises and finally two broken ribs and a clavicular separation. Of course, nobody knew what happened. And that might be due to the staff sitting around on their phones.

The staff isn’t trained to understand dementia and that people with dementia wander and might press on the door to try to leave, as they are confused. I witnessed my father being yelled at more than once and at night when he wandered he was over-medicated so that they didn’t have to deal with him. This resulted in a fall and hospitalization. We had to hire [removed] to care for him after, as he was left alone in his room while he was weak and recovering. I was able to verify how overmedicated he was via a nurse. He was unable to shave and was never shaved while he was there. The food is terrible. We couldn’t get our dad out if there fast enough. He had gotten Covid and we had to wait until he was negative to move him to a place in Brighton that understands dementia and treated him like a human being, instead of like a prisoner. Most of the staff at Courtyard Manor was unhelpful and it was very difficult to get anyone over the phone. There were very few helpful employees.

I definitely do not recommend this facility, I moved my loved one out after she was hospitalized for a bad infection she got there after being neglected. It was very challenging to reach the staff. At one point, the nurse called me and I tried to call her back but could not reach her. I tried many times.

Our family had an in person tour and honestly we could not wait to leave. This was the most depressing place we have ever been to. We had two other friends come on the tour with us and they even agreed with how depressing and sad it was.

When my bright, alert, and mobile 98 year old mother, who was suffering from dementia first moved in, the care, food, amenties, etc., were not great, but seemed adequate. I found a much better facility, and got her on their waiting list, but two months later, while I was still waiting for a room to become available, when her dementia got worse at night, they quickly moved her from their showcase building (there are four) to one of the three not-so-nice ones, and had their on-call psychiatrist ([name removed]) prescribe powerful psychotropic drugs without ever seeing her, and without my permission, even though I had POA for her health care. Within 24 hours, she turned into an unresponsive zombie who was just propped up in a recliner chair, and slept all day. She could no longer walk or feed herself, and the staff did little to help her. She passed away a few weeks later, and to this day I deeply regret that I didn't take her out of there before it was too late. If you truly care for your beloved family member, keep looking!

Very poorly run place. Management doesn't train or motivate caretakers. Many are mean, lazy and incapable of caring for elderly patients. High turnover rate for all types of employees. Facilities are old and in very poor condition. Toilets overflow, gutters are full of weeds, air conditioning goes out, heat goes out, fire alarms blast for hours. Incredible! Not enough caretakers for the number of patients. My loved one was not supervised properly and fell from her wheelchair many times. Staff didn't lift her properly and dropped her several times sending her to emergency room with gashes and bruises. I would never recommend this place to anyone.

Lack of training and respect from carestaff, nursing, and activities department. Upper management seems to not care about anything besides the $ and screwing over their staff. Carestaff is very rude towards family members and staff.

It's a terrible place, it's disgusting. They had mattresses on the floor, it smelled. The people that worked there were always just sitting and talking at the table. The clothes never seemed to get sorted out, they would have other peoples clothes in our loved one's room, and their clothes would be missing.

Terrible facility. Management did not train caretakers at all. Supervisors were never available on weekends. High turnover rate for all employees. Many caretakers were mean and lazy. Found my mother sleeping in urine soaked sheets too many times. Facilities are old and in poor condition. Toilets overflow, air conditioning goes out, heat goes out, fire alarms blast for hours, gutters are filled with weeds. My mother was not supervised properly and often fell out of her wheelchair. Caretakers dropped her several times sending her to the hospital.

The facility staff is abusive towards residents. Ive seen residents be pushed and tugged aggressively. Ive seen residents fall and left on the floor unassisted. When the family questions what happened the staff nor management is ever able to provide a explanation but they file false incident reports with a full story of what happened. They tell you they are looking into it but never come back with answers
