Everyone is very welcoming, staff and residents. Room size is good. Wish they had more art and crafts. They have several activities like bingo and games and my mom isn't into games. But that's not their fault.

A welcoming and pleasant environment

We visited a number of different assisted living facilities when making a choice that would accommodate my mother‘s needs. Lone Oak impressed us far more than the others, both with the atmosphere of the facility and the obvious care that the directors and staff felt for the tenants. The apartments are relatively large compared to some that we had seen, and the inclusion of a partial kitchen is a feature that we did not see in many places. All of the residents that we saw seemed happy and engaged; we did not observe a lot of people just sitting around watching TV. Before making our decision, we were invited to have a meal in the dining room, and we were impressed with how good the food is. Since my mother‘s move-in, the staff have done everything they can to make her feel welcome and comfortable there, although this was complicated by an outbreak of influenza shortly after she came. She has settled in well and enjoys the opportunities to socialize with the other residents.

Review for Peachtree Village Retirement Community

At home feeling and nice really caring staff always greeting me also signs here and there saying l, "You are loved", this means a lot to the tenants at older ages. At home atmosphere also contented happy residents. I would recommend. Very few retirement places in this area...I only know of one other place within 200 hundred miles

Our experience with The Landing Senior Living

I recommend The Landing as a safe, caring and friendly place to live. My MIL had lived in Roseburg and knew The Landing was being built. When she no longer could manage and maintain their home in Florence after my FIL passed, we toured The Landing. She liked it right away. There are lots of windows, natural light, beautiful natural wood in the interior, and friendly faces. Aging can be challenging with changes in independence and dementia. The staff are kind. I know this industry has a lot of turnover, but the staff were excellent. I observed some of the online orientation and training for new hires glad there was some. While an ALF is not the same as home, staff are caring and professional and I saw enough times how the staff communicated together to help the residence and keep them safe. Other awarenesses, my MIL was a vegetarian and there were times the food offerings were not very interesting to her. My MIL liked to go places, but was not safe to drive. She would have preferred more/varied weekly shuttle outing-activities. She was not open to a hired caregiver that could have driven her to shops, or getting her nails done to give her more normal social life. Ask more detailed questions about available transportation if you are not available to go to medical appointments, etc. There is not enough parking for staff, residence and guests combined. My MIL did have a POLST on her refrigerator, and the few times 911 was called, no one took a copy of the POLST. Took me awhile to figure this out. But a DNR at the ALF does not translate to a hospital as an order- they need the POLST. I hope the staff know this now. Over all, The Landing provided amazing care and safety to my MIL for several years and through Memory Care with Hospice.

We made the right decision

We moved my very reluctant dad into the Grove 2 months ago. We have no regrets. The staff arranged for him to have a designated table from day 1 so he wouldn't have to figure out where to sit. Luckily enough, that group was welcoming and he looks forward to dining with them at every meal. About meals - the dining room has small tables that seat from 2 to 6 or 8. They are set with cloth napkins and glassware. The food is made to order. There is an auxiliary menu to order from if one doesn't want the main entree. Fresh fruit and snacks are always available in the common area. There is a huge variety of activities, trips to the opera and fishing, candy bingo and a screened in porch. Meals, weekly laundry and light cleaning are included in the monthly fee. My brother and I were very worried that Dad would be miserable with the move, but knew he needed to be with other people on a daily basis. Dad is happier than he has been in years and his friends and family definitely notice!

Caring and Compassion

The staff is caring and compassionate. We chose Lone Oak because it was close to where my mom had lived for over 45 years. Our mom enjoys her interactions with the residents and staff. Friendliness of staff is 5. They are very nice and seem happy to be there. Overall experience 3. Cedar Ridge is short staffed and in a year there have been 3 different activity directors come and go. Cleanliness is 3. Pets occasionally mess in the carpet in the hallway and it remains for over a week before carpet cleaning. Like no one is responsible. Mom's room gets cleaned I don't know how often but your socks get black walking across the floor. Quality of care is 4. Mom doesn't get help to take a shower twice a week or to change clothes daily but she is safe. She cannot remember a code to leave the building. Meals/Dining is 4. The meals I have seen and shared on a few occasions were good. The residents often wait 30 minutes or more for their meals to be served. That is likely the result of short staff. Activities is a 5. They offer a variety of activities daily whether Mom participates or not is another story. She does enjoy walking in the mornings but loses interest in Reading, puzzles, movies, group activities and crafts. She just has little interest in doing things. Value for cost is 3. Mom has a nicer larger space at Cedar Ridge than at my house. I don't see that my mom's needs for daily living skills are truly being addressed. She still needs to be told to take a shower twice a week and to put on clean clothes. She needs something constructive to do to give her purpose. The cost is so high for what she receives. It's insane to understand why it costs <fee removed> per month for her medicines to be given to her. That <fee removed> x 25 residents = <fee removed> and you know there are more residents than 25 having meds dispensed to them. Why so much? We are in the process of looking for the next place for Mom.

MY HOME

I, with my two sisters had engaged in finding a home after becoming disabled to care for myself due to my Multyple Meyloma diagnosis. I love my independence and did not want to impose on my very loving family but insisting on my freedom and after much searching, opted for Wildwood Canyon Villa and it has turned out to be Heaven sent and the loving family condition that we had been searching for. I was very hesitant in believing that I would find the perfect answer to my search but thank God I have found HOME.

Nice, friendly, homey, safe place for my loved one. I love that I have personal phone numbers of staff members who deal directly with my loved one. Family dinners/activities/meetings with loved ones are also greatly appreciated. I have confident assurance and peace of mind knowing my loved one is being well cared for. I love that this facility is smaller so it feels more like a home and family. I highly recommend this facility to friends quite frequently.

The long or short goodbye

The staff is professional, kind and caring treating residents with a loving touch and made me feel so comfortable around them. They take their work seriously and always willing to jump in and help when needed. The areas where residents lived was clean and neat and I never noticed the ever lingering smell of Clorox and urine but had a subtle pleasing aroma to it. The food prepared was very good and during my time there I had a pleasure of eating with my husband. The residents enjoyed great food in a split dining room with assistance always available to help feed those that could not feed themselves at every meal. Activities are provided for those wishing to attend and often popcorn is provided after activities completed. I am 84 and told staff that when it is my time, I want to become a resident there. I was that impressed

Morrow Heights

Mom did really well at Morrow Heights . She fit right in and made a lot of friends. We ended up moving away from there though and moved back to Washington state. We now reside in Wenatchee Washington. My mom lives with my sister and we live right next-door so we can share care. She is getting great medical care here and she loves it here. She is around more family members. Down there in southern Oregon at Morrow Heights I was the only family member besides my husband so here she has grandkids, great grandkids and nieces that she gets to see, plus were closer to be able to take her to see her 96-year-old sister.

Family experience needs improvement.

They have a hard time keeping a cook. Many kid type meals mini corn dogs, fries, chicken nuggets, sandwiches. Soggy over cook veggies. Other times meals good. PA system POOR, can't hear it and due to blindness can't read notices on cards. Doesn't know what events are going on. Talked to them about it, but nothing changed . Better prices than other places, but it's old. Elevator quits, roof leaks (getting fixed). Staff and employees are very nice and have treated my father very well. But I am moving him back home with me. Cheaper to hire help to help me and he will eat better and I can get him more exercise and better food to lose extra weight .
