It's cheap for a reason

I would not recommend this facility. There are ways they can improve, but I don't think they will.

This place has a person as an someone as director who is unexperienced

The place looks nice enough when you first see it but don't let that fool you. The rooms for residents are tiny and if you don't require assistance, can be where Independent living is offered, run, don't walk to find another place. They treat all residents like kids. And if you are a family member and they don't like you or you question their policies, you may be banned from entering the place.

Hurtful

Someone should never call a place and be told her parent couldn't speak to her cause she wasn't worth it. But [name removed] did ... she told me that. And do not expect to reach your relative if they are there and their phone doesn't work and it's an emergency with their grandchild. Cause they don't care...

We had a terrible experience here. They are understaffed. Level 4 patients get no care. My dad suffered falls 5 times during a span of 2 months. They were required to check on him every 2 hours with level 4 care. When we came and visited him each day no one showed up to care for him. They would leave him in the cafeteria alone for hours while people went back to their rooms because they were short staffed. Hardly any showers/baths. He was left in his own urine daily. I mean hours upon hours of urine. His diaper and wheelchair would be soaked. We were not the only clients to have their loved ones not well cared for here. At least 2 other people had experiences like we did.

Everything That Looks Good, Isn't Good

The staff are friendly when they want to get your resident into the community. Once your loved one is in, the community doesn't care. There are residents dying there, and there are residents being transferred out to other communities. My loved one has fallen several times and my loved one laid on the floor for a few hours because the call button didn't work. The community stated that the call system went out and they are bring a new system in for the residents to use. There have been COVID breakouts over the last couple of months. When this happens, they place the residents on lock down and they aren't able to come out of their rooms. There isn't enough staff to care for the residents, properly. I feel there is some prejudice going on in the community. My loved one was discriminated against and the staff member that brought it to my attention and the director's attention was fired for bringing this to the forefront. The community doesn't have a proper dining room and no proper meals either. The residents are receiving cheese sandwiches for meals for example.

Incompetent

They don't have many activities. I wouldn't recommend Carriage Crossing to others for their loved ones. I don't care for the community as the staff doesn't listen to the concerns of the family. They don't answer questions that I have about my loved one. I feel like they didn't truly understand what is causing some issues with my loved one.

My review of Cadence

We did not have a good experience at Cadence Marietta. While we were here they changed personnel many times. There was one night we went to visit and my loved one was at the table waiting to get served and was never served so the front desk lady had to bring the meal to the room. My loved one was very sick at one point and they never communicated it with me or went to check on him. They also had major issues with the AC going out during the summer time.

My families experience

Some of the staff members were great, and somewhere not that great. Our experience with Cadence Assisted Living at first was great, but then they really started to mislead us. The communication was great, but then all of a sudden everything went quiet. Due to the extremely high level of medication that gave our loved one, they called us saying she needed a higher level of care then what she initially needed. We were disappointed in them at that moment. The workers themselves were great, but after that experience that was caused by them, the staff administration became less accommodating and less helpful.

Don't waste you time

Elmcroft is a beautiful and well maintained facility. If only the staff lived up to the appearance and promises it would be the place all seniors dreamed of. When we first visited the community we were very impressed. We were told there would be a four minute response time to a signal for assistance, at seven minutes the call would go to the supervisor. The usual wait time was between 15 and 45 minutes. Housekeeping did a great job, just did not come often enough. At one point the bed was not changed in two weeks and had to ask a family member to do it. Laundry was done for the residents once a week. Clothes came back clean and folded. Only problem not everything was returned. The people that work their seemed to have no compassion. It was all a matter of getting in and out of your room as quickly as possible. In all fairness they're are severely overworked. The same people that care for the residence also have to serve the meals and clean the dining room so don't expect help after any meal. In conclusion I would no recommend Elmcroft to anyone as a place for their family member. The caring and compassion is just not to be found with a few exceptions.

I am not happy with the care that my friend is getting at this community. The staff are not taking her our of her room. The community is not as clean as it could be. There seems to be a lack of communication with the staff. I was able to speak with someone who was respectful, but she acted like she did not know what was going on. They have offered her activies, but she does not want to partivipate. I suggest other familes consider the care that is given here and take a tour for the care.

Keep Looking I Beg!

Keep looking! Three directors in 5 months!! Disorganized, slow, the staff has NO leadership they are just floundering. Some staff are good and some are completely ignorant. My Mom has been told she is NOT allowed to lock her door because her roommate loses her key!! Totally against the law. My Mom fell twice in her room and it took staff over 30 minutes for a staff member respond!! Meds are another issue, good luck!! As one reviewer stated the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing!!! Very fragmented!! I wish I never heard of Elmcroft!!! You may regret going there too.

Whats in the ceiling?

Dont let that big beautiful chandelier fool you people, its not what you think. We got Mom in the most expensive room to decorate like her home since she had been down home burning down and rebuild then lost her son in law at TG and oldest son at Xmas and dementia set in. All fine till leak in ceiling that had bucket under it for weeks. Later noticed mold in ceiling and came back to see it was painted over. Trying to move her out of that mold in ceiling room, i was offered another on opposite hall where admin was, only to have her load towels on floor from shower leak and ants that I , a senior RN,had to take about 70Lbs. Never addressed the young AA mgr took responsibility for ball dropped and it WAS hers. At $3700 mo. I came to do all her care daily, it included none. When finally i gave 30 days notice to move her out , i went to biller and asked if paid up so could lv few days early, these people to this day is still billing for those few remaining days after sure its long been written off on taxes. I ran a successful , hold ALL accountable facility for yrs now a retired senior myself, i could have posted these mold In the ceiling and the paint over pictures all over the internet. Who knew yrs later during a pandemic they would try to get blood from a turnip . SMH. Get an experienced, mature, hold your people accountable facility manager! She now has mold related sinus and coughing issues!,

Never Put Your Loved One Here

My loved one who was there, he was covered in his bodily waste when we arrived. The staff kept saying they would be in to clean him. We ended up going to the store to buy the supplies since the staff never came in. The bodily waste was all over the sheets, my loved one, and the floor. This happened multiple times.

Very bad experience

My husband went into Respite Care for two weeks and we paid up front for this two weeks. He feel after being there only one week and was taken to the hospital and stayed for 2 weeks. The faculty knew that he was fall risk but didn’t watch him closely enough and he fell and hit his head. After 2 weeks in the hospital he was transferred to a rehab facility. While he was rehab, Elmcroft send me a bill for an additional month’s payment which was ridiculous since he was only there a week and never went back. My husband passed away on September 11, 4 months after being in Elmcroft. He was fine when he went in but was not fine due to the fall. All this time I have been fighting the bill and due to their incompetence I was sent to a collection agency. They never call you back when the day they will and you have to keep calling them. I would not put my dog on that facility. All they are interested in is your money.

Don’t put your loved ones here!

I hate to post these things online but my family has tried to take other measures to resolve these issues. My grandmother has lived at this facility for about a month and the care has been terrible. Several times a day she will push her call button for assistance and it will take over an hour for someone to respond, if they respond at all. She has had accidents waiting for someone to come and take her to the bathroom. This is abuse. They also leave her places in her wheelchair knowing she has no way to get herself around. My mom, my uncle, and I have all expressed our concerns to management, who have done nothing to make this better. I want others to be aware of the conditions that Elmcroft thinks are acceptable before they choose to move their loved one in. I don’t want anyone to regret it the way that we do.

RUN

This place is not equipped to handle functional Alzheimer patients. My father lasted one night before I was called to pick him up or stay with him! This is a place that is supposed to be skilled with handling dementia residents. Clearly their employees need some training. They are very, very insensitive. When you register with them, the sales person and director makes it seem like they are so interested in your situation, but really it's all about the money. Please, please look at other facilities before choosing this one.

Basic Staff Training Needed

I had an unfortunate encounter with a staff member at this facility. It took place in the presence of three residence, possibly a fourth. The entire scenario should have never happened on many levels. While the corporate office in Louisville was very professional and apologetic I still can’t bring myself to recommend any of their properties.

This place is a disaster

We had nothing but terrible experiences here. They assured us they could take care of Mom, but that was NOT the case. One day we got a call from a family who had found Mom in a Burger King where some good samaritan had driven her when they found her wandering around near a busy highway. Mom had on a device that sets off an alarm if she leaves, and when we picked her up from the family that called us and brought her back in, sure enough, the alarm went off. We waited for a few minutes to see if anyone was even paying attention, and eventually we had to go try and find some staff, and they were all in the dining hall having a meeting of some kind. They had completely missed the alarm twice. We moved her out that day, and demanded the money we had paid back (which they did not want to give, but did eventually). They were chronically understaffed, and the workers just seemed like they hated their jobs.
