Our aunt moved to Care One Moorestown after a difficult and sad experience at another facility in Mt. Laurel, NJ. She is almost 96 years old, is in a wheelchair and has moderate dementia. At the last facility, she was in her room alone all day. Due to her dementia (and her personality), she did not really participate in activities and didn’t even want to go to the dining room for meals. After a short hospital stay the former facility demanded that we pay for a 24/7 aide causing the price of her care to skyrocket, so we decided to move her. We researched many assisted living facilities in Burlington, Camden and Gloucester Counties via the internet. We narrowed down the search based on availability, reputation and reviews, and visited several in person. We chose Care One at Moorestown for our aunt. She is now thriving in the Enhanced Assisted Living Unit at Care One. She has formed a wonderful bond with one of her main caregivers and from what we can see she interacts well with all the staff. She goes to the main dining room for all meals and is almost always out of her room, either at an activity, or with a group in the lounge, or sitting in the lobby “living room” reading the newspaper. Her whole demeanor has improved, she is much more engaged and we see parts of her old personality when we visit. She seems less depressed and more stimulated. The facility is clean, warm and welcoming. Due to its small size, the staff is willing to get to know a new resident and work with them based on their personality and preferences, and helps them interact and socialize based on their comfort level. Each person is spoken to respectfully and patiently. We’ve never witnessed any harshness or complaining by the staff. Each resident is encouraged to be as independent as possible and help is provided as needed. Residents appear to be active, stimulated and involved. Also of note, we haven’t noticed any of our aunt’s belongings missing. (This was an ongoing problem at the last place she lived.) One memorable example of the helpfulness of the staff occurred on the day out aunt moved to Care One. One of the health care staff saw us hauling furniture and totes from a truck outside, got on his phone and called for help. He and a coworker helped us move in her belongings in record time. One attached the mirror to the bureau and hooked up the television. One complaint is that the outdoor smoking area for residents is very close to the front entrance. This means that when going to visit, one has to sometimes walk through cigarette smoke. Not a deal breaker, but unpleasant, especially for non-smokers. It would be nice if this area could be relocated further from the main entrance. We would definitely recommend Care One at Moorestown.

The meals are okay, but if there was a wide variety it would be much better. The services could also improve if the staff serving meals would smile a little more make it a positive atmosphere. The housekeeping is doing a great job everything looks in place. Once a month they do a family event and it is great we get to spend time with our loved ones.

My dad has dementia. He was diagnosed 3 yrs ago. My husband and I care for him in our home. It has been a tough go, but,we really want to care for him until it becomes too much for us. That time is soon to be upon us. He will probably need to move in late 2016. I started looking at communities for when that time comes. I don't want to wait until something happens to dad. I came across Care One at Somerset valley last week. I let the counselor know what my concerns were and why I was starting to look. He advised that we could go away for a week or so and have dad test it out for a set rate which covers everything. I let him know that I had to go away for The Passover holiday and could not take my dad with us. He said..."That's perfect", let's try a week vacation for you and for your dad. I booked the respite. I had no idea that this was a possibility. I wish I would have known about this program earlier as it really would have made our lives a little easier.

My husband and I had been looking at assisted living communities in the Bridgewater area. We checked out a total of 4. They all seemed pretty similar until we went to this Care One community. First of all it was new and gorgeous. More importantly to us was that the memory care community offered everything we were looking for regarding my dad, who has recently been diagnosed with dementia. The community feels and acts like a high end hotel with staffing and nurses in the building all throughout the night. This is sooooooo important as my dad wanders all night long. We are meeting with the rest of the family this week to discuss what we learned. I am 100% sure that we will be moving dad in by April.

We toured the community for my dad. My husband and I are his caregivers. We are not sure if he will move there full time but... They have a no minimum stay all inclusive respite stay which really will help us. We scheduled an April and a July Respite stay for dad so that we could go away with confidence that he would be cared for while we are gone. This program is a god send!!! If you are looking for temporary help or to test a community, this is the way to go. At least it is for us.

My father is being very well taken care of, they're doing a really good job of taking care of him, these folks are much more engaging, getting him involved in a lot more activites and not just letting him sit in his room all the time. They jsut reach out to engage much much more, I know that they just converted a section to have more rooms so the size has been a factor but they whell him into bingo even though he can't see but he can hear and they keep him entertained and engaged. He has the benefit of being in the assisted living, he's in a wheelchair so he isn't a flight risk, he's easy to take care of and they tell me he's a sweet heart. i think if you have a grouch instead of a nice person they're going to be drawn more to you.

My mom raves about how good the food is. My favorite thing about CareOne compared to her last place is that they have frequent trips - to Walmart, Target, the library, Goodwill, lunch at local restaurants, etc. I think it adds a sense of normalcy to her life. Shoutout to [name removed] on the activities staff - everything she does with the residents she puts 110% into.

The overall care depends on the staff some better than others the food is very individual thing but my friend complains a lot about it I've never really eaten there but there is plenty of options offered. Very friendly and welcoming. Activities are encouraged by staff and if the family member is not resistant to the staff they are good at getting residents to engage and keep involved

The administrative staff is excellent. The PT and OT staff are excellent. The recreational staff are excellent. The problem comes with evening, night and weekend care partners. Some of them have limited English skills and such heavy accents that it is difficult to understand them. Some are not friendly, seem to resent just being there, and do not seem to understand that the residents are confused and possibly frightened at times and don't understand what's going on. This is especially true with the wheelchair bound residents. They come in, release the brakes on the chair, and wheel the resident out without telling them anything about what is going on or even saying hello or being pleasant to them. They seem only want to interact with each other. You have to monitor how your relative is doing, question the staff about how they are doing and double check on all of the activities they are engaged in and medications they are receiving. If the staff knows you are paying attention, then they also will pay attention.
