After visiting several communities over the last couple of weeks I was beginning to get bored with the pitches and feel they are all the same. What a pleasant surprise to visit The Stayton. From the moment I walked into the lobby, I felt like I just entered a five-star hotel. Every employee greeted us with a genuine and warm smile. Our counselor was punctual, friendly and sincere. I truly felt she had my best interest at heart. The rooms are beautiful. The amenities and activities are all I could hope for. I had an opportunity to meet a couple of the residences during my visit. Their warmth and graciousness made me feel like I had known them all my life. This has been by far our most impressive community yet. Hopefully I to will soon become a resident of The Stayton.

My Mother Loves It Here!

Mom has lived here going on 3 years and has enjoyed every moment. She feels very safe and secure. The food is wonderful and the activities director, Amy, is everybody's favorite. She brought a bus load of residents to visit mom while in rehab to surprise her on her birthday! And Mark, the director, is so caring. Recently, I was in my mother's apt decorating her tree when in comes Mark with a bowl of soup and a cinnamon roll. He knew she had not been feeling well. And you will see him and other staff members walking resident's dogs!! Parkwood is not the fanciest place out there but this place stands out among all others as being the most caring. NOTE: Parkwood Healthcare (next door) provides private rooms at no additional charge to the residents here that are over there for rehab. And the rehab is fantastic, also.

We toured this location when we were looking into care options for our loved one. Out of all the place we saw I think this one may have been the nicest. It was beautiful, and everyone was very friendly. However, it is located in a busy area of town that I don't think some of my relatives would have been comfortable getting to and from.

Great place for mom!!

I am very impressed with Parkwood. The staff is friendly, helpful and really caring. The food is wonderful, the activities are well planned. My mother was sure she would hate her new home. She has come to really like it. It is not easy for anyone to give up their homes, but Parkwood becomes home and family.

A Wonderful Retirement Option

My husband and I visited Parkwood on behalf of his mother who was living in an apartment with no assistance. Since she could no longer drive and she was having some memory issues, we decided to look for a living option that would provide services for her, but still give her the feeling of the independent living that she likes. We loved everything about Parkwood. The residents and staff are so friendly. We particularly like the cafeteria style dining. There are plenty of organized activities. And best of all, my mother-in-law just loves her new home.

Great Assisted Living

We were in the assisted living portion of this community and we were really pleased with it. We really loved this community. The staff was very nice and the community was always very clean. They have a lot of activities at least for the assisted living portion of the community. The director would always respond very quickly to any inquiry. They were very accommodating and worked with the residents as long as they could.

Positive Experience

The interaction with the staff is good. They do so much for the residents, with the variety and the menu. We picked this place based on research, and recomendations. They have so much going on, as far as activities. For the cleaniliness, food and activities, and for the value you can't beat it. They have a chapel for those who want to attend on Sundays. The staff gets along very well.

Moving here was a smart choice.

A big plus at Ventana for my husband and me are the other residents. We've been here a year and have wonderful new friends, both singles and couples. Another plus is the staff - the positive attitude of management which carries throughout. Meals in the restaurants and room service also earn a thumbs-up. With considerable effort and flexibility they try to accommodate many different culinary preferences. There are countless events appealing to a variety of interests - music, movies, Bible studies, parties, style shows, lectures, book club. The Wellness Center offers a full range of fitness equipment and programs. Or you can create your own regimen by walking in the adjacent residential neighborhood, across the street at North Park, or swimming/exercising in the salt water indoor pool. During the COVID challenge, management has comprehensively addressed safety provisions without smothering our lives. We made a smart choice by moving here.

I toured here when I was originally looking for a place for my mom to go but ultimately decided on a different community. It’s a beautiful place and there were people from her church that were there, but their financial office was difficult to deal with. The rest of the staff and the management seemed easy to communicate with and easy to work with. The community was kept clean, the food was good, and the people were wonderful. The residents seemed to be very happy there and the staff was very helpful and friendly. Overall, it just came down to the cost of everything that kept us from moving mom in.

Retirement living with comfort and confidence

Parkwood is a retirement community where everyone is treated as family and where personal service and care is a priority. My dad has been a part of the Parkwood family since February of 2015, which was shortly before my mother died. Communication from the staff with our family has been seamless and whenever we visit, we feel included in the community. The staff is caring, dedicated and exemplary when it comes to taking care of the needs of its residents. We would recommend this facility to anyone looking for a new home for their maturing parents or family members. [names removed] Fremont, Nebraska

My parents were very hesitant to leave their home and move to a retirement community. They have been at Parkwood for over a year now, and both will tell you that this move was one of the best decisions they have ever made. They now have new friends, eat better, and are so much more active than they were at home. The removal of the stress that comes with maintaining a house and figuring out meals has improved their overall health in general. Parkwood has a very homey feel to it in that the residents are very friendly, and the entire staff is caring and knows the residents by name. If I could give the entire staff a 10 star rating, I would! I really can't say enough good things about how wonderfully they have all cared for my parents. I honestly don't worry about them as I know they are so well taken care of. The only reason I didn't give Parkwood 5 stars is because the grounds look very tired, unwelcoming, and need improvements.

The facility is good, the communication isn't as good as it should be.

The facility is good. It's just that there is a lot of bureaucracy, and the communication isn't as good as it should be. They need to communicate better with family members. It seems to be reactive as opposed to proactive. It's clean the staff is friendly, the food is good. We haven't really been there long enough to judge the value.

Very good, but slower response time

It was very good. I probably would have left him there but for one thing it was about $2500 more than the other place and it was less convinient. The staff were pretty good, they had a lot more people there, sometimes you couldn't get someone instant, that was one of the things, he's incontinent so it would take awhile for them to come but I'm sure that's the same any place. They were very good, they had a couple of staff that we weren't real crazy about but for the most part they were good.

Wonderful Staff

The care is fine but I have a lady from homewatch that we've been using for years - she's like a daughter to us - so we're using her instead of the stuff they have here. We haven't been able to take advantage of many of the activites yet. We did sign up to go to a play on the first of October. Downsizing is very hard but it's not their fault. It would be the same anywhere. The staff is wonderful here. The food is not as good as my wife's cooking but it's adequate.
