Lovely facility but the rooms are tiny and there is no closet space.

While this facility is attractive and the staff seems nice, I cannot recommend it because the food is so bad and the service is terrible. The dining experience is a major part of the day for senior residents and I am amazed at how poor it is. My mother was originally at the Somerby in Alpharetta when it opened. The food there was good. The menu was much more extensive, and the service was adequate. It is just the opposite at Somerby in Sandy Springs on all three accounts. In fact, I dread going there to eat with my Mother. We have complained, but it doesn't seem to improve. Again, I would explore other facilities, before making a decision.

seemed like we were too young for this community. Noone seemed happy here. Seemed more like a nursing home atmosphere

Communication between families and the staff is a problem. We are an involved family and it was very difficult to get call backs regarding our loved one. Getting food properly prepared, monitoring fluids, picking up on changes in health were all problems that took multiple visits and phone calls to correct. The "Best Friend Program has not been implemented in Assisted Living. We were told that when we moved our loved one in, we would be met by Best friends, escorted up to the apartment, etc. none of this was done. We were also told that residents supplied their own toilet tissue when in the leasing documents clearly state otherwise. We chose Somerby based on the Best Friend Program and their affiliation with Piedmont Hospital doctors. However, due to the Health Information Privacy Act, we were unaware that he would not have access to her medical information from another Piedmont physician. Staffing at Somerby when we were there seemed to be inadequate. We could never find a nurse/cna unless we tracked them down at the other nurses' station at the other end of the hall. I'm sure that Somerby is working to correct these issues, but in the meantime, we hope this review will assist others and help them be aware of potential issues. At the end of the day, you must be your loved one's best advocate.

This location always has a sign outside to find help, a concern for any business and cautionary tale sign to me! Mom and I toured this location back just before they opened, so I know it is just too expensive for Mom to be able to sustain. My husband's Aunt was there for a time, but her family, much wealthier than the average family in Maine, found it too expensive once she needed to add more (and more) care services. The care never seemed adequate. What difference does it make to have "great" actives if the person in care can't or won't participate?

Experience on a scale from one to five would be one. We were very disappointed with the service that and care that we received. My wife was a patient there for 10 days and we she did not have a bath for 10 days that I gave her a bath, but they never gave her a bath. They set up some expectations about calling for assistance if she needed it she needed specific care at times like getting up and or going to the restroom and things like that, and so they gave her a pendant and they said a few Paris's pendant that will notify us like a call button. Well, it never worked, and that was a big disappointment because of my main concern was for her, her well-being and care and so I think that they seem to be understaffed and just not able to meet the needs that we had for care for my wife and she after 10 days we left and I brought her home.

Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. They do not care about the residents at all. The leadership is AWFUL and hide behind a door. My mother in law lived there for a year and we tried to make it work but after being given another residents medication for 2 weeks, having her room filthy and inhabitable because they don't have housekeeping she was forced to live with feces on her floor for days at a time, the toilet would be clogged for DAYS and no one to help fix it. They claim they have housekeeping and maintenance onsite but that is false. They can't keep staff so they sometimes pay for a company to come in to clean but most times they just leave it and the resident lives in filth. They gave my MIL another residents medication for 2 weeks. A med tech pushed me, her advocate and then was able to keep working with my MIL. Do not go there! Look elsewhere. I have so much more to write but there is a limit. It's gross, overly expensive and they do not care for the patients.

Mom has been ignored. No prompting. Doesnt go to activities. Always find pills laying around despite asking them to watch her take them. Has eaten about 5/90 meals offered (and paid for) per month. No one cares. Never seen the same person giving meds or answering bells. Zero communication from anyone. Facilities beautiful. Care horrible. Will be moving mom ASAP.

posted a review on the actual website as well this place is no place for your loved ones the sad thing is after you signed to stay,. you. realize it. I visited a family friend in memory care; the care i have witnessed with my own eyes is unbearable. The nursing supervisor doesn't care much. I'm unsure how this place is up and running please look at other assisted living or memory care this place is no place for your loved one because of the amount of falls, the treatment, and cold food they sit in soiled briefs for hours, skin breakdowns is no way to live the nursing director is no help she acts like she cares, but I can ensure she has made this place worse from day one and the ED he don't care either never are they on these units interacting with us families nor do they care of the complaints an horrific things that go on here its awful and all they want is the money

Facility is not equipped to handle memory care needs of all patients. They kicked out family member just over 30 days and would not negotiate on 4,000 community fee deposit even though they performed evaluation on the resident before moving in. They kept all of it after only 30 plus days in facility. Unbelievable Additional funds above base rent were withdrawn from patient bank account with no explanation before it was taken out. Upper management very unprofessional in my opinion.

All through the sales process we were assured that my mother would love it there. We were clear with the sales people about Mom's physical limitations throughout the process. A Place for Mom kept pushing us towards The Grande. After stringing us along for over a month they decided Mom didn't "fit" in the community. The kicker? They never called or communicated their decision. I had to call them. That's when I found out. If your loved one needs ASSISTANCE, this is not the place for you.

They are understaffed. Woefully unqualified people from temp agencies dispensing vital medications to the residents. You pay thousands a month for a level of care that they fail to provide. If you want your loved one to be taken care of, don’t choose Harbor Chase.

There was very little communication between staff members and family, resulting in a near death experience for my mother-in-law. There was a lot of upper management turnover when my loved one was there. It may have gotten better since then, but I would definitely recommend talking to residents before placing a loved one in this facility.

This community is beautiful on the outside, but the inside is a whole different story. Management does nothing, they say things will get better but they don't. The staff is always changing, they can't keep the same caregivers as their overworked and run short. Corporate doesn't care. It's not a bad place to live if you can 100% do everything on your own and plan to clean your own apartment as housekeeping doesn't stay here either.

We had Mom in both the assisted living and memory care at the Enclave. During that time we experienced a range of issues, from poor housekeeping to inconsistent care of my Mom. Garbage overflowing, trays of food left in her room for days, sheets not changed weekly, were just some of the issues we experienced. Mom was found more than once with feces on her clothing. Although we paid extra for more care for Mom, she was still found most days without her hearing aids on, and not wearing her call pendant. I believe the Enclave at Newell Creek suffers from understaffing and poorly trained management.

My mom lived in both Newell Creek's assisted living and memory care units. My family and I had problems from the start, ranging from overflowing trash, laundry not done and bedsheets not changed, to serious issues with my mom's personal care. These issues included her being left in clothing dirty with feces and urine for extended periods of time and employees incorrectly reporting her as having attended activities - even on the day before she died when she spent the day in bed in her room, with me at her side. Management and administration were unwilling/unable to fix the issues with my mom's care. Mgmt/admin were seemingly unwilling/unable to adequately supervise staff, and completely ignored my specific requests for care plans that addressed the care issues we were having. While some Newell Creek employees seemed to genuinely care about the residents, other Newell Creek employees were among the most uncaring and callous people I have ever met.

My aunt is a current resident, and they haven’t been feeding her breakfast and lunch. They told me that she is not on the list to get those meals. I didn’t know that it was OK to withhold food from people. She is supposed to be checked on and moved every two hours, but they don’t check on her, let alone move her. She fell a couple weeks ago, and nobody knew how long she was on the floor, because she wasn’t checked on for three hours. She recently was hospitalized for a UTI, because nobody checks her depends. Do not send your relative here, if you love them and care about them. They WILL NOT be properly cared for.

We knew right away this was not the place for our loved one. We walked in and had a scheduled tour, but no one was at the front. We walked around the facility and no one stopped to ask us what we were doing. That is a safety issue. When I stopped a staff member, they were not professional or personable. We made sure to go on a weekend when there was no management there to see what it was like. We walked out within 5 minutes of being there.

We were about to move in, filling out paper work and just needed to sign but then they stopped communicating with us when we had a crisis - they made the whole thing worse. They were not willing to take my loved one after this crisis and did not tell us for 8 days, they made it so much harder on us. They left us in the middle of this crisis with no place to go. They advertise excellence but deliver garbage.
