Avalon Memory Care

Our family went through a devastating life change when our mother had an unexpected brain bleed. She was left with cognitive issues and the inability to walk or care for herself. The doctor told us that we needed to looked at a nursing home. When we looked at a few of these facilities, we knew this was not the place we could trust with her care. We are so thankful to Avalon, for the amazing care they gave to our mother. Their staff have been there for a long time and they are very loving and dedicated to the people they care for.

My father developed dementia and spent the last year and a half of his life at Avalon Lewisville. He was comfortable, enjoyed the place, had very good meals, and was surrounded by friendly and attentive staff. The team at Avalon took great care of my father’s needs, provided comfort, and were excellent at communicating with me as well.

I took care of my mother during her illness of Alzheimer’s for about 7 years before it became apparent she needed more help than I could give. The hardest decision is to have to place a loved one into the care of someone else. I found Avalon Memory Care and after much deliberation and thought, we moved my mom into the memory care home. The home and it’s staff helped my mom transition into her new normal and allowed her to be as active as she could possibly be. As the disease continued they adjusted their care to meet her needs. In the final two years she was on Hospice. The staff worked closely with Hospice and myself in the end of life care for my mom. I never felt my mom’s best interest was not at the forefront of every decision we had to make. She passed peacefully in the home.The staff comforted my family and cried with us as they had grown close to her during those years. I am so thankful Avalon came into our life at a time we desperately needed them.

I moved my husband into another memory care in the area. They assured me that they could handle my husband's behaviors and care. He has advanced Parkinson and Lewy Body Dementia. His hallucinations can be bad and it really takes someone that understands this to care for him. Avalon was a God-send. I am so grateful that they quickly came to our rescue.

We moved my dad in last year and we have been very pleased with his care. We also really like the Nurse Practitioner that sees dad at Avalon. We had to make a move from another memory care that went out of business and Avalon made this transition very easy not only for dad, but also our family.

Avalon Memory Care took wonderful care of both my Mom (2.5 years) and Dad (1.5 years) suffering from Alzheimer's. I cannot say enough good things about the facility in Allen, Texas, but most importantly the staff working there day in and day out. They are truly Angels on Earth caring for and attending to my parents, as well as, all the other residents. It was a hard decision to remove my parents from their home, but the nice, always friendly faces at Avalon Memory Care of Allen helped ease that transition and feelings of guilt I had doing it. It was the best for them and to keep them from harm. I will be forever grateful to Avalon for providing a safe place for my parents near the end of their lives and I highly recommend Avalon. A truly great place and inspiring people.

Avalon Memory Care went above and beyond for my Dad. My father was a resident at Avalon in FW off of Boat Club Rd. The staff was amazing. They were respectful, kind, and attentive to my father and his needs. I will forever be grateful to them for the care they provided in his last days. Thank you, Avalon, for all of your knowledge and care.

My husband received the best care at Avalon Memory Care in Allen. From the minute his sister and I walked in the door to visit, we were greeted by [name removed] and [name removed]. After many questions and answers, our family felt this was the best placement for him. We were so afraid about the decision process but these two ladies made us feel confident we had made the right decision. After a week of adjusts on everyones part, my husband seemed happy to be there. The staff was so caring, compassionate, and treated him with respect!!!! They learned his likes and dislikes and helped him in every way. I visited every other day when I could and he never complained. He even called them "his family" at one point. For me, his wife, they educated me, counseled me on him, what to expect, how to talk to him, and how to love him the way he was!!!! I recommend this place so highly. God blessed this staff with special gifts in treating patients of this type.

Dad really liked this place. The staff was so kind and communicated with us very well. We transported him here from out of state and the staff was extremely helpful in explaning everything and helping me figure out what to do. They were so kind and I never saw them lose patience even though he could be quite challenging. During the course of his illness he had stayed in several different places and this was the only one that he liked.

My husband was a resident a the Keller location for 2 years before he passed away. They were kind, thoughtful and attentive. This truly became his home. I am grateful for the care they provided him.

Avalon was a godsend for my father. After we had an absolute nightmare of an experience at his previous facility Sunrise that ended up kicking him out, Avalon welcomed him with open arms. The director Matthew is incredibly kind, professional, and even helped me move in my dads items on his day off. Himself and [name removed] made sure they were always available for me when I needed something. They kept me well informed, and were very understanding of my fears and sadness while watching my dad go though the normal process of decline with Alzheimer’s. My mother and I would visit my dad several times a week and he always looked like he was being well cared for - showered and shaved, teeth brushed, room was clean and bed was made. [name removed] was my angel caretaker who took a true interest in making sure my dad and the other residents were doing well. [name removed] was also wonderful and always doing a great job. [name removed] the med tech kept me up to date on his meds and helped me coordinate with their PA.

I love Avalon! We moved Mom here from a Brookdale facility that was clearly about the money, and not about caring for their residents. BEST decision we made! This is a hard road to go down, and lots of decisions. And you just hope you're making the right ones, much less the BEST ones. But this was definitely a winner! Highly recommend Avalon. They were wonderful to Mom right to the very last breath she took! I miss everyone there. I've wanted to go back by just to say hi to everyone. But it's just too hard right now. Maybe soon! I loved everyone working there. And they were so loving to my mom! Can't give them enough stars! Go by and check it out and see if it's right for your loved one.

My dad has advanced Parkinson's Disease and Lewy Body Dementia. This has been so hard on my mom and she did her very best to keep dad at home as long as possible. When she could no longer care for him at home, I helped her in her search for care. We were very relieved when we found Avalon and that they could handle my dad's heavy care needs. We are very grateful for the excellent care that he receives.

If you have to place your loved one in memory care, you should consider Avalon. Their staff has been there for a very long time. Every time we visit [name removed], she looks very happy. I can tell the staff love her and that she loves them too.

When it came time to look for care for my wife, I felt really lost. I was so afraid and really didn't know how to begin this process. Avalon walked me through each step and it really helped with feeling so overwhelmed. I go every day to see her and I see first hand how the staff treat her like their family. They are kind and compassionate.

My husband has been a resident of Avalon Memory Care in Carrollton for a little over two months. I usually visit my husband every day and have found the staff to be generally caring and attentive, dealing with various personalities and demands with humor and grace, never losing their respect or patience with the residents. I am so happy we found this “home” for my husband.

After searching, many places we chose Avalon. The workers truly loved and cared for my mom like family, it never smelled, it felt like a home not a facility. I am a very on hand-on daughter and was in the facility most days, I Highly recommend Avalon!

Avalon Memory Care was an amazing experience for our mother. From the very beginning the staff was attentive and caring. They genuinely cared for and about her. The kitchen staff made really good smelling food. The facility was clean and comfortable. We were very pleased every time we went to visit.

When it became obvious that I could no longer care for my husband at home myself we did a lot of research. Some years ago my father-in-law was in a memory care facility, and it was nowhere as nice as Avalon. We asked many questions and spoke to several different facilities. We spoke to our attorney that dealt in elder care. From him we learned what questions to ask and what to look for. The staff at Avalon was very caring and [name removed] soon adapted to living there. He even got gifts from the staff on his birthday. It was not a negative experience for him and for that we are so thankful.
