Avalon House on Gerard Court

The staff were consistently extremely helpful, caring and professional. Myself and my siblings as well as our father are very grateful to [name removed]and [name removed]for their patience and respectful care for my mother during her time time at Avalon for memory care. When my mother came to her end of life process with hospice, they were supportive beyond belief to our family. I cannot recommend the memory care at Avalon House on Dominion Crest more highly to others with a loved one needing memory care!

My family’s experience with Avalon House on Dominion Crest was really great as they cared for my mother during her struggle with dementia. [name removed]and [name removed]were her caregivers and we couldn’t have asked for a more loving and attentive team. They treated her with such dignity and respect it touched our family deeply. In fact they even attended mom’s funeral when she passed peacefully—a moment in our lives they were present for, providing additional comfort and peace for the family. Thanks to them and Avalon. Great facility!

My mother stayed at Avalon House for a year an a half before she passed on. The care my Mom received was exceptional in every way. The primary caretakers there, [name removed]and [name removed], treated me and my Mom like their own family members which was extremely comforting for us. I visited my Mom five days a week and she was always squeaky clean, well dressed, and fed delicious homemade food. My Mom’s room, and the entire house, were always bright and clean. I hope I never personally need this type of care service but if I did, I would move across the country for the superior care provided at Avalon by the wonderful and highly skilled staff members.

My mother in law has advanced Alzheimer’s and has been living at Avalon House Dominion Crest for several months. I love that she is in a safe, clean environment with staff that truly cares. My son and grandson came to visit her and the staff did her hair, makeup, and jewelry. It was so thoughtful and even though she couldn’t express it she knew it was a special day!

My mother was at Dominion crest for several years before she passed. I cannot say enough good things about her care there. The staff was always sweet and patient with her, even though she could be a pill. She was always clean, and there was never any foul odors there. I would give them 100 stars if I could. I still miss my mom, but I know she lived her last year's in a supportive environment. During Covid the staff did their best to help us visit with her.

[name removed] and her staff provide a deep level of care and compassion for our loved one. Upon admission, Sharon took the time and attention to learn about mom, her likes/dislikes, areas for targeted care, information to promote safety and her most enjoyable activities. It is a relief to know that mom is being taken care of, safe and living a joyful peaceful life. The care and keeping of residents is among the best we’ve ever seen, including the frequency of bathing and other activities of daily living. The caregivers are engaging and friendly, appear to be happy working with residents. Each meal is nutritious and home-cooked in the kitchen on site. The staff to resident ratio is amazing and allows for personalized care and attention. Our loved one is appropriately dressed. Recently, we received a photo of mom outside enjoying the bright sunshine on a day when we were out of town and unable to visit her. Highly recommend!

My mother had severe dementia and we could no longer give her the care she needed in our home. Avalon House was a godsend. It was a lovely residential home with only 8 residents a mile from my home. The caregivers, (particularly [name removed], [name removed]& [name removed]) were so kind, patient & caring. Our mother received one on one care & they went out of their way to make her feel special. It was the best alternative, giving us peace of mind & allowing my mother to spend her last few months in a normal home-like environment rather than a big impersonal facility.

The main caregiver at Avalon House on Hardwood Lane is exceptional. She’s one of those remarkable people that has the ability to “read” someone quickly & meet their needs. She’s proficient in performing day-to-day tasks & her keen organizational skills keeps the house running smoothly. She treats residents with respect & kindness & takes great pride in the variety of wonderful meals she prepares. She recently made my loved one’s birthday extra special complete with everyone singing “Happy Birthday” to music & a little dancing. She’s more than a caregiver, she’s a rare gem that’s doing exactly what she is meant to do, she’s a real treasure! This is the third time I’ve placing a loved one in the care of Avalon House. My first experience was 12 years ago & I’ve recommended Avalon ever since. Thank you again Avalon!

I referred two doctors to the Avalon homes. I know it's more than 1. The only thing I'm unsure of is activities with my mother. I have never seen that being done. I visited quite often. Otherwise, no complaints. Things are great.

Our family had an in person tour with Avalon House of Hardwood Lane and we had such a great tour experience which is why we gave them overall 5 stars.

My husband has been at this facility for several weeks now. He is always clean and well fed and the staff is caring and helpful. The patients here are all fairly advanced dementia patients and I imagine their job is very challenging but the whole team is professional, upbeat and always available to answer questions. It is hard to have my loved one living away from home but easier when I know that his caregivers at this home truly care for him, attend to his needs and show empathy and compassion for all the residents and their families.

My mother has advanced stage dementia and is unable to express her needs. The caregivers at Dominion Crest Lane go above and beyond taking care of her and the other residents needs. The atmosphere is joyful, the house is clean, and the caregivers take great pride in caring for the residents. I know my Mom is well cared for and in great hands in a way that I am unable to. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking such good care of my mom.

My father with dementia was starting to be very disoriented in his assisted living facility and they didn't have memory care available. I was worried about his safety and his increasingly tense relationship with his wife. After touring several memory care places in the area, I stumbled upon this gem. The people are lovely, they are attentive, and the whole place is spotless. And best of all, they know how to handle him. He just moved in a few days ago and I am so relieved that they can handle the day to day issues and when I visit, I can just spend time with my dad. What a gift.

Kind caregivers, good resident support. Quiet home with good personal care. Administrative staff involved and are helpful with problem solving. Good communication. Helpful with residents special needs.

Overall good experience. Friendly staff and clean facility in a nice neighborhood in McLean. Facility did a good job in keeping me apprised of the resident’s condition. The food was good and prepared by the staff on premises.

My sister was a resident of Avalon House for four years. I was very happy with the level of care which she received from the staff. In particular we would like to thank the two house managers who were very kind to our loved one. Our visits were welcomed and we were confident that the Avalon was a home not just a house.

While there are a lot of nursing homes that have fancier facilities, I’m grateful I placed my wife who had Alzheimer’s in the Avalon residence. The caregivers were exceptionally conscientious and kind to my wife, especially [name removed] . I felt confident that my wife was always well taken care of and never neglected regardless of how difficult the situation sometimes became. I would strongly recommend [name removed] who combined professional competence and expertise with a very warm and loving personality.

The staff at Avalon Laburnum took care of my grandmother in 2017. They were so loving, patient, and kind. Grandma wasn't always easy to care for but they went above and beyond to make sure she was always well cared for. It was evident that they really cared about her and the other residents. Many other assisted living facilities in the area are much more expensive and don't provide such quality one-on-one care. The communication from the staff was great. They were so accommodating and really did a lot to make us feel at home.

Dad has been a resident at Avalon 7 for more than 4 years. The staff welcomed and made him feel at home from day one. Always pleasant, attentive, and calm, the staff ensures dad's needs are met, he is very comfortable, very well fed, clean, and safe. The staff's diligent attention to dad's medical needs and their communication with us and his medical providers gives us peace of mind knowing that he is in good, professional, and caring hands.

My relative has been at Avalon House for 11 and 1/2 years. As a dementia patient, she has been unable to care for herself. Her long stay there is a testament to the great care she received from Avalon and her private doctor. As her contact with Avalon I have spoken to the managers of the company and individual manager of that house many times over the years and have always been pleased with the results.
