Avalon House on Gerard Court

My mom is 91 with dementia and with anxiety. She came to Avalon house about a year ago. The Avalon staff are wonderful! They take very good care of our mom. Even her anxiety seems to have decreased here. The professionalism in the level of care that she receives is outstanding.

Our brother-in-law is a resident of the home on Woodacre Drive. We visit him twice a week and have been very pleased with the condition of the home and the care he is being given. The staff is very good - the supervisor is excellent. We appreciate the care he is being given. He is a fine gentleman and is treated as such.

The administration team is amazing and caring. Our go to person who takes care of my Dad is sweet, communicative, and has become apart of our family. Avalon is a place that we had to wait on the wait-list for. But the care my Dad has received there has been amazing and it was worth the wait. I feel lucky to have met all the people I have that work there and that they care so much for him. Three people who I need to recognize due to how amazing they are: [name removed], [name removed]and [name removed]. These three ladies have made sure my Dad is well taken care of and I want to thank them from the bottom of my heart.

This Avalon house takes wonderful care of my father in law. Staff are very attentive and kind. They know what he needs and provide everything. They are very communicative and let us know how he is doing. They are always happy to see us when we visit.

The staff at the Avalon House are amazingly kind and patient with all of the residents and always provide a loving environment for them all. They communicate with family regularly and I have never once doubted that we made the right choice.

It's hard to believe it's coming up on four years since we had to find a place for mom, who suffers from dementia, but each and every day I feel fortunate that she's getting excellent care from the fine folks at Avalon House. I don't know how they manage, but they've kept her healthy and smiling all this time, even through Covid! She's got her own room, which was a must, that we decorated to make it feel like home and it's close enough that at least one of us can visit often. It's also a big plus that the staff knows her, and she knows them. I'm sure they're all good, but we're grateful to have found the house on Gelston Circle.

I couldn't say enough how much our family appreciates the care our mother receives at the Avalon House on High Street in Falls Church. My mother truly loves [name removed] and [name removed], her care givers at Avalon, and it's evident to our entire family. I just can't put into words how much peace this gives our family. I have been to this Avalon house on Wood Acre Drive, the house is always nice and clean and in order the residents are well groomed and clean, residents meals are well prepared and they make sure that they snack in between the manager for the house always pleasant and no matter what she got a smile on her face I know for sure that this particular house is very welcoming and staff there works very hard to keep the house well maintained, great home for a family who is looking some where for their mom or dad or other family members!

We have been lucky to find the Avalon house for my mom’s memory care she gets great attention from the staff. It’s seems that the dietary needs are being met because she had a weight problem before she was admitted, It’s getting better now. I would like to see her do more activity or creative activity . Our friend who resides there has done remarkably well under your care. We have interacted with her by video, and she always seems cheerful under her care. She has done much better physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually than expected since she started residing at your facility. Thank you!

my mom stayed at avalon 3 on wood acre drive, for five years and during her time there, she was given the love and affection that I could not offer her because of my situation. I just want to express my sincere gratitude to the staff for there hard work and dedication. I really appreciate all that they did for my mom.

I recently was able to visit my grandmother on her 94th birthday. It was so special to see her and that she looked really good even though she is not well. It was special to me to see her in such a good place one more time before I headed out to school in Missouri. The place was clean and like being at home.

It is always good to see my grandma in a nice place that smells good! The rooms are clean and there’s plenty of room for me and my family to visit my grandmother. Also it is close to where we live so easy to see her.

Avolon house is a very welcoming and friendly place. They take wonderful care of their residents. They are very attentive to the residents needs and contact family members whenever any care is of concern or if resident is having medical issues. They have very good food . They take very good care of resident from bathing to dressing and any other care needed . The staff is very friendly and receptive if asked questions.The house is exceptionally clean as well as each residence’s room. [name removed]and [name removed]are wonderful care givers and watch over residents very carefully. They are very friendly to the family members as well . I would recommend the Avalon house 2 to someone in need of care . The care is also very affordable for the great care they get . It is a good memory care facility very small and less residents to care for . The 24 7 care givers are great .

My sister's cognitive decline over the past two years has been a heartbreak and a challenge. It was a big job for my wife and me to help her relocate to Northern Virginia, and, while the original home we found suited my sister at the time, her worsening condition meant looking for a new place that could provide a more comprehensive level of care. Thank goodness Avalon House was recommended to us! The Avalon manager we met exuded both warmth and competence, and the caregivers at Oakview Drive reinforced that impression even more strongly. The facility itself is immaculate, in a lovely, leafy setting. But the real standout is the people. Turnover can be high in the assisted living sector, where the demand for personnel is constant and high. Most of the staff at Avalon have been with them for years, and to my wife and me, this testifies to an ethos that treats both residents and caregivers with respect and dignity. We unhesitatingly recommend Avalon House.

The staff at Avalon house on 1503 Oakview Drive are wonderful. The staff are very sweet and do a great job in taking care of my mom. They are very kind and patient with her. They always make sure she is clean, fed,, and happy. They also are excellent at letting her children know when she needs something (e.g., diapers, shampoo, etc. One thing I noticed in Avalon house is that it does not smell bad (unlike other nursing homes that we visited). Also, they keep my mom very clean. For me that is very important, and for me that is a sign of a staff that cares for the patients at Avalon. The staff are great! We could not have asked for better care for my mom. We are very appreciative of everything they do for my mom.

Avalon 2 provides top-notch care for a small number of memory care residents in a really beautiful residential neighborhood (greenery visible from every window). The staff is caring and friendly and there's not a lot of turnover, which is especially important in caring for those with dementia. My sister-in-law clearly feels very comfortable with the two attentive, cheerful staff members who provide for her daily care and medication needs. For residents who don't travel easily, it helps that Avalon 2 works with an excellent caring nurse practitioner who makes regular house calls, and also works with the best hospice services provider in northern Virginia. It's hard to believe the care of this quality is available in Mclean for a reasonable price.

Interaction with the staff at Avalon House on Dominion Crest comes from long distance phone calls that my mom and I make to her sister and my Aunt. Staff is very polite and helpful. They are all very caring and give guidance and direction while she is on the phone. From pictures my cousins send me, you can tell the place is very well kept and looks like home. I love at holiday time how they celebrate with each individual and take cool pictures of each one and make them feel special. In closing, staff is very knowledgeable especially during medical emergencies and communicates with immediate family. My mom is very appreciative and can rest easy that her sister is loved and taking care of by a very special staff.
