Did not care for the layout of the facility. Too much like a hotel. Narrow hallways. Not emough living room type areas throughout.Although the facility was clean and well maintained. They were really pushing memory care instead of the overall facility. Did not care for the location.

Fantastic, beautiful grounds, had 1 bedroom with den, liked one meal with credit if needed. No residents spoke to her, too expensive.

Very nice, extremely clean, nice staff. Grounds were small, no parking and way too expensive.

We ended up picking Atria because we thought the facility looked the best and cleanest and all and seemed affordable. We also we had talked to them about running out of money and Medicaid and they assured us that they don't throw anybody out and they wold find a way to make it work. We were really optimistic about moving mom in there. Now she's been there a few months and it's been a very difficult adjustment. We were surprised because mom is pretty sociable and she was open to the idea of moving because she wanted to be around more people. She's still ad very poorly. They have a lot of act but unless you're a self starter it's not going to work. There is nobody that's helping her get integrated. There are aids and things that are helpful but there is no one that takes you under their wing and orients you. There was a mouse in her room and ants. We alerted the executive director and it was promptly addressed. Our biggest concern is that her medications are changing and nobody told us. They're supposed to call us but the way we're finding out about is on the bill when there are medications we don't recognize. Recently there were two new pills on including one for diabetes and she doesn't have diabetes. We finally reached someone there and she said the doctor assessed her with diabetes last month. No one contacts us! That's a pretty significant change in her health record that we need to know about. The place is beautiful and they've got a lot of things going on but the level of the individual patient care doesn't seem to be what we expected.

Atria was fine except when my mother needed more assistance we were told that she had to leave. It was rather abrupt and not very caring. I would say the end of our experience with them was not as caring as when they were trying to get her in.

Atria Willow Glen is basically a good place for an elderly person with dementia. They have group activities every day. Some are for mental stimulation, and some for physical conditioning. They have a very pleasant, large, enclosed back yard with great shade trees. They do many activities outside in good weather. They do a good job of administering the meds, and keeping the residents clean. On the negative side, I think their food is not top notch and the portions are quite small. They also kept the residents seated at the table waiting for the food to arrive for a long time (maybe 20-30 minutes or so). Another negative is that many residents end up using a community bathroom with only one toilet when they are downstairs for eating or for activities, which is a large part of the day. And that bathroom would fairly frequently be dirty, because someone had used it before a cleanup person would get to it. Many of the bedrooms are shared with 2 or 3 people, with one bathroom. And the air conditioning doesn't reach all bedrooms well at all. However, when I complained about that, they did install an air conditioner in my husband's room after about 2 or 3 months.

It didn't feel as clean, however, they were doing a remodel so that probably had a to to do with it. The rooms that they showed us that were available were just to small fore what we were looking for. It's already hard to move from a house to smaller space so we want to get my mother and step-father as much space as possible.

Lovely setting; apartments are spacious; however, residents do not seem to be as active as I am. Yoga and Zumba are done in chairs! May look again when I'm closer to making a firm decision.

Clean community. Healthful menu and activities. Would have to share room and rent increases in 2015.

Place was nice, but was more apartment life. Mom needs more assisted care.

The place seemed small, old, rooms seemed a good size, dining area small . did not provide rides to Drs except wednesdays , location off a busy road lawrencevillle hwy

Visited Atria and she liked it very much. It is 'right in her back yard.' Access is very important. However our concerns are: they don't provide the full continuum of care AND they don't accept Medicaid. What happens when her money runs out? What happens when she needs a higher level of care? I've rated it a fair until I'm able to answer those questions.

I did tour this one and I felt like they were not as friendly to the people that lived there. They kind of ignored certain people and there were other things like if you had a car, it's not coverd parking so your car will get dumped on.

It was higher priced. The director knew nothing about anything. He was new but he hadn't even studied up so he'd always say "Well, I'd have to check on that" or "I don't know" or "talk to so-and-so about that." I was not impressed with that.

It's beautiful. The rooms are new, it's clean and for the most part, the staff is friendly. There have been a lot of hiccoughs and growing pains since my mom moved in. My mom was the second person to move in to their memory care unit and one of the last to get her name on the door. It's a constant battle with the medication and them not doing it right. It's a challenge to keep her occupied and engaged. They assured me that they would keep her busy and maybe for and 87 year old they are keeping them busy but for a 68 year old, she has too much free time. It's been a really really rough three months. I feel like I'm fighting with them everyday. They're taking pretty good care of her overall (she's safe, bathed, fed) but what they sold us on is not what they delivered. If she wasn't settled in I would move her. He doctors don't think that's a good idea right now.

I don't want to bad mouth them because everyone is different and every situation is different but it was not a happy experience for me. It's clean and beautiful but it was very small and it's a lock down unit - very constricting. They didn't have any patience. They relied on medications. If he was agitated, pills arent' the answer, and that's what they did. Right away they wanted to push medication. We was constantly falling becuase he was drugged and then the would send him to the emergency room. He went to the ER 8 times which I didn't appreciate because it wasn't necessary and it was costly. I felt like they were just trying to get rid of him for a couple hours. They never listened to me. I asked them to run medications by me and they never did.

My dad just moved in there on Saturday and at this point I don't feel I can give them a yay or nay yet. I can say that my dad likes the food and there are lots of activities. Everybody was putting they're best foot forward (because we were negotiating). It's a pretty place - very attractive from the outside. The grounds are beautiful and the facility itself is very nice and clean. There is concierge. It's nice to have someone always at the front desk. This is supposed to be the leading assisted living in the area for activities. This is a level A and one of the reasons we chose that is that they have a level B only four miles away so if he has to move to a level B i don't have to find another community and my community fee will apply to it. The reuptation this place has in Tyler is that ehy nickle and dime you to death and we're starting to see that now. Also the business administrator is not calling my sister back.

It was older and only had studios. I though it was too spread out. Some of the rooms would be too far away for my aunt to navigate her way around. She can walk just fine but it would have been hard to figure out.

The people were very nice, and the facility was beautiful. The surrounding area was just a little too sketchy for my father in law...
