Ascension Living

I toured this community it was nice for an older building. It had tiny rooms and it was more independent living and my dad needed a little more care and staff around. They answered all my question and were helpful. The people seemed happy here. It just wasn’t a good fit for my dad.

My mom is very happy living at Bethlehem Woods. Many new friends, activities and she can walk indoors to church everyday. We wish we moved her 5 years ago!

Parents were there for 4 months in 2014 and received great care and the 2 bedroom assisted living unit on 2nd floor with elevator was nice size and had two complete bathrooms with showers. Nursing staff great when needed.

We moved my mother into a respite care room just before Christmas. In reviewing several facilities we were incredibly impressed by the kindness of the staff and the outgoing residents who spontaneously interacted with us telling us how much we (assuming we would be the ones moving in) or my mother would like living there. I was concerned that Mom would want to live someplace more "fancy" (and also a minimum of $2,000/month more), but that had not been an issue. My wife and I think it's kind of cool that the building is a historic ex-hospital where my son's father-in-law and all nine of his siblings were born. Mom lives in "the tower" in a very spacious room that was able to accommodate most of her furniture and has great natural lighting and views thanks to multiple large windows on three walls. The staff have continued to be caring and friendly, providing additional attention and support for my mother's declining cognitive status. There are a lot of activities in which Mom has participated, and she enjoys the community. The head nurse has been especially helpful and has made a friend of mom. My wife and I are both nurses and we are particularly fussy about the quality of healthcare we use for ourselves and our family. We highly recommend Presence Fox Knoll, but is hardly necessary, as all rooms are currently taken. They offer independent living, assisted living and memory care.

Fox Knolls was the place we selected after interviewing and visiting many other places. Fox Knolls is more like a nice apartment building in the way the rooms are set up and in the way they run the place. You do not get a clinical, hospital feeling here, its more like just a living area. There are a fair number of activities, the staff is VERY attentive as are the admin people. We are actually moving my Mom from her memory care area to an assisted living area in the sam building based on her improvement. The people at Fox Knolls have been super helpful in getting this done. These might be my words but they are the same words my siblings would write since we all reviewed all potential provider communities. They would mirror my statements. As a final piece, my mother actually likes it and thats saying something since she is very independent and was not the typical happy resident. While she isn't ecstatic about being anywhere but her own home, she has come to know her care persons, the staff and also has nothing but fine things to say about them.

It was very nice but a little too big for my mom. I thought the staff there was excellent. That was definitely one that I would have felt comfortable with but my mother wasn't comfortable with the size.

The staff is very helpful and goes above and beyond. The facility is doing some renovations so at times it can be loud. My parents have adjoining rooms and have beds, a chest and recliners. We have a small table with 2 chairs on one side. There is plenty of activities if you are interested.

The staff is very helpful and calls me when they have questions or need something for my elderly mother. I did not like that they sent her to the emergency room thinking she was having a stroke. The hospital kept her for 2 days and never found what was wrong with her. Her blood pressure was high but all other vitals were normal. A trip to her doctor revealed she had an UTI, which can cause similar symptoms of a stroke. Upon discharge from the hospital she was required to go to the rehab center for 2 weeks. I took her out of the rehab center after a few days when I found out they weren’t doing anything for her. She was placed back into her apt and they came to her for any rehab. She has made many friends and goes to several activities that they have monthly. She is able to leave the bldg after signing out and her friends and family take her to different places away from the apt. She gets all her needs taken care of and I would recommend the facility to others.

I would recommend to others. We really like living here.

Spiritual activities good, need more activities, reasonable rent, technical not that complete, age of facility causes repair needs on basic The food need more flavor, there are good choices but they are too bland!

Staff is very helpful. My mom does not like elevators. Staff members escorted her to other buildings as needed. I would like to see a bit more variety in the activities offered.

My mother is very happy and feels safe. She reports often that she has many friends there! The staff really appear to enjoy her as well!I have recommended many times.

The community is very welcoming, helpful and understanding. I'm glad my Dad has the staff at via Christi McLean, it may be a bit run down compared to other facilities, but I will take this staff over aesthetics.

Facility and staff are better than most I have seen. Reasonable value for the cost.

Overall good except dinning. Dinning has gone down since I moved in.

I would recommend the facility because the residents were all so friendly. We had two cases of thievery from the room. One was a wallet. As for the food: great hamburgers. The dinners from the kitchen were not very good at all.

The experience has been pretty positive overall. Some confusion with how the phone works, for example is long distance included. We received some conflicting information. It's all cleared up. Staff has been extremely helpful, friendly and welcoming. My mom is so happy and is Independent! She always has something to do outside of her apartment, even if it's just taking a walk. It's so great to see her happy and active!

Communication with all of the staff at Ascension Living Casa Scalabrini Village is easy, they are responsive. The facility is very clean, grounds are well maintained. Suggestions for improvement: more effort to get the residents to interact outside of meal time; should enhance workout, gym, physical exercise area; and wi-fi should be included. It's a nice facility overall, my family is happy with our choice. I would recommend Ascension Living Casa Scalabrini Village to others.

My loved one is a resident at Ascension Living Fox Knoll Village and overall the experience at this facility has been very good. All of the staff have been friendly and helpful. The cleanliness and care services are great. The food and activities are good. At this time, I have no concerns with this facility or my loved one's care. I would recommend Ascension Living Fox Knoll Village to other families.

For the most part everyone is nice some of the other residents can be quite rude and act like they own the place. I have made a couple of friends that i spend time with. The activities are a lot of fun to join in all the ladies in activities really make the activities fun. I also find the library quite enjoyable. It is quiet and well stocked with books and DVDs as audio books The food doesn’t excite me but if im hungry the nurse can always offer cereal or something from the snack basket ( fruit, granola bar, pop tarts, chips, cookies you can also bring in your own snacks. ) The main problem I encounter is having to wait for help to the bathroom since im paralyzed and require help This facility could benefit from some teamwork activities
