Our family had a special lunch delivered for the staff at the Arbors of Bohemia today as a “Thank you” for the wonderful care they have and continue to give our Mom. These have not been easy times for any of us while dealing with the Covid Pandemic. I have not been able to visit her since mid March when all of the NY facilities went into a “No visitor” protocol. They stepped up, taking all the precautions while continuing to care for our loved ones. We have had peace of mind for the past year, knowing our mother is well cared for with kindness, understanding and compassion. Please read below to hear the message I wanted this lunch to convey. If you are trying to make the difficult decision to have to move your loved one, you will find the Arbors of Bohemia to be the best! They are all professionals with very big hearts! ******* To the Staff of the Arbors of Bohemia, This is special lunch is just a little something we hope can bring light to what has been a very difficult time for all of us. While we could not be with our loved ones, you all have taken that giant step to fill in that empty space in their lives. We know it has not been easy for you. All that PPE gear is not easy to wear throughout the day BUT YOU DID! You accepted the extra responsibilities to keep Mom and others safe while limited to their rooms, preparing and serving their meals, cleaning more frequently and thoroughly than you normally do, organizing and delivering each of their meds right on schedule to keep them well, and while making observation for any possible changes that could indicate a simmering problem. Some of you even rebooted or repositioned that Alexa device in Moms room so we could see and communicate with her! And you continued to answer the phones with the greeting, “ It’s a great day at the Arbors” because everyone made it so! And most importantly, you made hard choices to balance the needs of your own lives outside of the Arbors, so you could remain healthy and not introduce our loved ones to this dreadful virus. We recognize many of you struggled with children and family at home and their care and even schooling! You too have had to deal with finding toilet paper and food for your own families, some of whom may have suddenly been without jobs, while you still did. We have always felt that it is the staff at the Arbors of Bohemia that helped make our Moms move from her own home easier. We know she was and continues to be looked after and cared for by the best of the best! We recognize and APPRECIATE you all for what you do each and everyday! And you did all of this with a smile on your face.. We hope you can enjoy this lunch and know how much we love and appreciate you each and every day. We hope to be able to see and thank you all in person, soon!

I have been a part of Arbors family for 6 years and I love it. I feel grateful for the great friends I've made while living here at The Arbors. The care is excellent, and the housekeeping services are appreciated. I enjoy all the activities, luncheon's, and outings we get to be a part of. The recreation staff is fantastic. They keep us busy. We are always having fun.

To start i must tell you i checked about 6 places out before i choose the Arbors at east islandia for my mother. also i am 37 miles away in each direction which shows how much i liked the place. the rooms are great she is in a shared room and loves it. the staff is fantastic with me and my mom.the staff keeps me informed of all her medical conditions and her check ups.mom enjoys all the activties especially the bus trips. they do everything. mom loves the food i also tasted it and it is very good and they offer many chooses of food at each meal..bottom line i am soo happy i picked the Arbors at east islandia.if you are looking for a place i highly recommend checking them out i promise youwill love it

My mother’s been at The Arbors East over a year and a half and it was the best decision we could’ve made. She loves the staff, everyone is friendly and exceptionally good to her. She is very happy with the food, the quality and selection and, as she puts it “the goodies” in the afternoon. She plays mahjongg, canasta, and several card games. She participates in the trips out on their bus, to the movies and stores, but not to the restaurants because she says she likes the food there, so why bother. Her medical care is taken care of by the efficient Wellness Center and the doctors who visit her there regularly. All-in-all we couldn’t be happier - highly recommended!

The Arbors Assisted Living at Hauppauge is a God-Send! My ninety-six year old father has been residing there for a little over a year. From the moment we arrived, the majority of the staff has made him and our family feel right at home. I've observed that the staff is attentive to the needs of the residents, kind and caring. The interior and exterior of the Arbors is well maintained and beautifully decorated. There are activities and entertainment planned throughout the year. The recreation staff is creative and works hard to engage everyone. The residents receive three nutritious meals each day with snacks in between - thus far my father has no complaints about the food! I am extremely pleased with the Arbors Assisted Living at Hauppauge. It has given me comfort and peace to know that my father is in a caring and safe environment during his latter years.

The Arbors of Westbury was so much bigger than it appears from the outside. Loved the three beautiful gardens Didn’t expect this. Everyone was very caring. Seems like they are the best kept secret. Very impressed!

My 98 year old mother in law, [name removed], has been a resident at The Arbors in Bohemia (Long Island, NY) for several months. She is failing. The staff at The Arbors has gone above and beyond the call of duty. Their overall professionalism and constant efforts to keep her comfortable, active, clean, and happy are the deeds of an outstanding crew. [names removed], and the facility manager , [name removed] have consistently made every effort to make sure she is receiving the highest level of care. The staff that works for those three are always cheerful and around to assist with the daily chores my mother in law is struggling to do on her own. I'm not a review writer, first time ever doing so. I highly recommend this facility as a place you can be sure your loved one will be looked after with all the attention and genuine concern you would wish for. my mom started living at The Arbors At Islandia East [date removed] she adjusted quickly to her new home. when I visit her she is happy most of the time she has a few days here and there where she is sad but I understand this is part of dementia .she is cared for well. the staff in the safecare section is great. you can see everyone who works there care deeply about all its residents and treat them with respect. I all so enjoy the support group which meets the first Wednesday of every month she loves the food and actives when i see her happy I know I made the correct choice

My dad was recently at The Arbors for what turned out to be a short term, but my experience as a concerned family member was a positive one. The Arbors in Bohemia is a lovely place. I found the staff to be very friendly and reassuring during my many interactions with them while my father was there. It's obvious that the people who work there have a lot of experience helping to care for those who come to live there. The facility itself is spacious, lovely and peaceful. From what I observed. they have many activities designed to engage the population there. I wish that my dad had been able to stay; I feel it would have been a wonderful place for him to spend his remaining time.

When looking for a place for my mom we wanted to make sure it was comfortable and had a very homey effect. My dad passed away and she has dementia so we needed a place that would suit her needs. The Arbors at Islandia East was the place for mom. As soon as we walked into the door the staff was welcoming and very friendly. It’s been about 4 1/2 months since she moved in and still says how happy she is. She’s made a lot of friends and keeps busy during the day with lots of activities. We finally got her comfortable enough to go on day trips. When we take her out for family functions she can’t wait to go ‘home’ as she puts it. I have recommended this facility to many if my friends.

When we found the Arbors at Bohemia are were relieved. Mom could afford a shared room. It's one-level. Her roommate was lovely. They ate at different seatings and coexisted quite nicely for the few years they were together. My biggest praise is for [Removed], the Activities Director. She is warm and patient and very very busy with 'her' residents. ALWAYS thinking of new ways to engage. [Removed] is one of Mom's favorites as well as Carmen...and a few names that escape me (sorry!). Departments from reception to business to wellness have all been, if not perfect ~ really good! Please understand it is nobody's first choice to move into an assisted living. It will be an adjustment that takes some time. Giving up driving, homes, independence are terribly difficult issues.

My mom spent a few months at The Arbors in Islandia. Our family cannot thank the staff enough for the outpouring of compassion they extended to us from the first moment we inquired. The staff and administration are true professionals. We highly recommend the Arbors for your loved one

The living spaces and common areas are clean and comfortable and routine care is obvious. My mother has been pleased with menu and meals. The staff is friendly and they do exhibit patience and tolerance toward my less than patient mother. The care is consistent from what I have observed, with physician visits, routine medicine distribution and personable attention to residents. Residents are encouraged to interact and are helped to be tolerant of the many different personalities that exist in that environment. I have observed engaging and thought provoking activities. In house activities keep residents busy throughout the day and organized trips off site are frequent. It has been a rejuvenating experience for my mother and a relief for me.

My mom seems very happy at the Arbors. She says she is always busy and has made many friends. She is kept active and enjoys going out to lunch with some of the staff from time to time. I feel comfortable knowing she is happy. She also met a gentleman friend who is a veteran and is very happy having him asa companion.

Mom is ok with the food. Mom seems to be more outgoing and interacting more. She does enjoy a few of the activities offered. They do offer a few different activities on the east side and mom is able to go over and participate in some of them. The staff is accommodating. Mom is on the west side and the building has a friendly layout for residents with memory issues. Everything is in a loop and on the same floor. I would recommend this community.

My Mom has been there for one month. The welcome and warm attitude of the staff has been been very comforting to our family. In addition to the staff the residents all seem very happy which to us says alot about the quality of service. Thank you for making this transition more helpful.

I thought this place was one of the best I had seen out of all the different tours I had taken for my father. The staff have done a great job at making sure he comfortable and his needs are accommodated in his new living environment. I am very impressed with the overall experience and would defiantly recommend this place to anyone interested.

When it becomes clear that your loved one can no longer live independently it can be an overwhelming experience. My search for an Assisted Living Residence began with A Place for Mom and their courteous, and helpful assistance. They guided me through the process of choosing a residence best suited to the needs of my Mom and myself. The first place I visited was The Arbors at Islandia-West. Upon arrival, I noted the "bed and breakfast" feel of the residence. It was here that I was provided with all the information I needed to make an informed decision with compassion and understanding of the emotions that go along with leaving your loved one in the care of others. I visited and investigated several other adult residences in my area, but was continually drawn back to The Arbors at Islandia-West. I knew deep down inside from the beginning it was the best fit for my Mom. My Mom became a resident at The Arbors at Islandia -West in January of 2015! The residence itself is very well maintained. I have found the entire staff at The Arbors-West is friendly, patient, kind and attentive towards it's residents. The Doctors that provide their services are very good and make themselves available to any questions or concerns about the care of your loved one. I am certain my Mom is safe in their care. My Mom is very happy at The Arbors at Islandia-West and participates in many of the activities they have to offer. After all, her happiness is all that matters!

Finally came to the conclusion that my mother needed Assisted Living care. She will be 90 in September. Incident took place two weeks ago today that made me realize she needed to be in a better place. Went to The Arbors in Bohemia, only 10 minutes from my home. Met with Melissa who met with me for about an hour and a half. We discussed my mother's situation and she showed me a room that I felt would be perfect for her. Luckily there was a resident at the site who my Mom knew and Melissa and I arranged to have my mother have lunch with her the next day. My mother was impressed with the facility but thought she did not need to go there. We had a discussion that afternoon and she agreed to go. Made the final arrangement a few days later and my mother moved in a week ago. It has been a tough week but the staff has made the transition as easy as possible. Everyone and I mean everyone from Melissa, to Cindy and all concerned (receptionist, recreation and wellness division, housekeepers and maintenance personnel) have been so nice to her and me. She is still in the period of adjustment but is eating better and beginning to socialize with the other residents. Many more obstacles to go for her and myself, but thanks to The Arbors, life it beginning to get a bit easier again.

We originally took my dad on a respite basis for two weeks. At the end of the 2 weeks, we picked him up. By the end of the evening, he wanted to go back to live there on a permanent basis. He loved it there! He made great friends and he missed them. He enjoyed the activities there. We moved him in a week later and is having a great experience and is happy. I visited several assisted living facilities in different locations (not all were The Arbors), but found this location to be the best fit for my dad. We also like the all inclusive pricing and the ratio of men to women was much greater at this location than others. Also a greater population of italian speaking people. We made the right choice for him.
