Overall a good community, but a couple of things could be improved

We think the consistency with the care services has been a little bit of an issues. Our loved one has some physical disabilities and some dementia and we do not believe there has been any accommodations for her or anything activities geared towards our loved one. Also the communication could be improved between the management and the families as well as the director of health and wellness and the families.

S MANY TIMES I HAVE SPOKEN TO THE MANAGER AND SOCIAL LADY ABOUT THE MOVIES HERE. SO MANY TIMES THEY CANCEL AT THE LAST MINUTE WITHOUT NOTICE. ALSO THE MAJORITY OF MOVIES HERE WHEN THEY SHOW IT, ARE MOVIES ABOUT WAR AND ARE VERY DIPRESSING. I HAVE ASKED FOR COMEDY, ROMANCE, OR MUSICALS. I WAITED A WHOLE YEAR TO MOVE HERE AND I AM VERY SAD THAT I HAVE STUCK IN MY ROOM BECAUSE OF THE LACK OF ENTERTAINMENT. I FEEL LIKE THIS IS AN OLD OLD AGE HOME AND I AM JUST WAITING TO DIE

Lovely place, and caregivers seemed kind and dedicated, friendly. Not right for my mom... activities were centered around games and my mother would prefer more lectures and discussion, as a retired university professor. Got the impression it would be like living in a casino. My husband would love it but not my mom.

Having some problems

My parent has lived in this facility since it opened. For the most part, things have gone well. But there have been some real problems with communication with what is going on. Specifically, there have been many changes of staff that have gone unannounced, and details with my parent such as when showers have been given, if and when a flu shot was given, and a salon date that was desperately needed but didn’t happen before a family event. I would love to say all is great, but struggling with this communication issue.

Memory Care Center Experience

My mother was taken in at the highest care level of the Memory Care Center. In my opinion, with the assisted living status, Crane's View should not take a person who cannot do anything for themselves. There is not enough staff to handle all of the requirements of the routine job, much less to take care of a bed-ridden person. Everyone was very friendly and I believe that for the person who can get around on their own, this would be fine. However, I don't believe my mother should have been accepted because they cannot fulfill the total needs of someone completely dependent.

Monitor their care

They are clean and friendly and have alot of activities. However we pay for nursing and assisted showers for my father. He does not get showered on a regular basis even after a meeting with head of nursing who told me she would personally make sure it happened. And even though they know he has a blood clot in his leg and medication that can cause bleeding an unattended leg wound was found by a family member. Obviously not regurlarly checking a known medical problem either. So beware and monitor.

Nice but continual rising cost

My dad moved in to independent living at Allegro 3 years ago. He has thoroughly enjoyed living there. The accommodations are lovely and the social life very lively. However, we were not informed that the rent would go up 5% every year, regardless of inflation. He is now paying $500 more each month than when he moved in 3 years ago. His rent has gone from $3300 a month to $3800. It would be very unsettling to move Dad at this point. We just wish we would have been informed of the continual increase in rent.

Beautiful and Pricey

Very, very pricey. Beautiful inside, but with the price that they charge it better be beautiful. I think it was $4800 a month. We weren't really impressed, I didn't see any of the elderly residents walking the hallways or saying hello, it was like they were all stuck in their rooms. We were looking for just for assisted living at the time, so they could have been walking around.

Disappointed

My dad is not very happy here. A lot of things that they said they had or would have in the beginning, they do not. They have a van but it is sitting in the parking lot with no license plate. He gave his car away when he moved here, so now we have to take him to the store, all of his appointments, etc. The food started off really good but then it went downhill quickly. There have not been many new residents coming in and so he has not been able to make many friends. The staff walk into his room without even knocking so he does not feel like he has any privacy. It is definitely not what we thought it was going to be.

The care and cleanliness of the inner facility is wonderful. The food Is not very good. The portions are the size of an appetizer. You can request more and that saves waste from those who do not eat their full meal. It does become annoying to have to consistently ask and then wait again for them to bring more. The menu is limited and to much soupy dishes and fried foods are served. The cleaning service leaves a lot to be desired. They come once a week to pick up garbage and from each apt. and fail to wash floors, dust and scrub bathrooms. There are hidden costs like bath assist. A new and healthy menu would create this newer facility to grow.

Review for Alto Evergreen Walk

They misspelled my father's name on his door. They had inaccurate information on our paperwork (they listed my address in Florida, when I live in New Hampshire). They do not refill his cpap machine, nor do they supply distilled water. They are do not seem to be making sure he is bathing regularly.

In our experience

e had trouble with them getting his meds right. They did not provide washing of linens 1/x week and another load as promised, but the tech would do it if you asked. My parent did not like to ask. Staff was nice. Clean place and trustworthy with belongings. Often difficult to get someone on the phone in an emergency from outside facility. Many foreign employees which sometimes made a communication barrier. Took a long time to answer calls at night especially

Corporate Changes Without Consideration of Residents and Loving Families

My loved one is currently a resident at Alto Stuart. Previously, I would have rated this facility all at a five. Sadly, I now rate it at a 2. For days after [name removed] departed, the switchboard kept connecting us with his voicemail! My loved one, age 102, remains upset and rattled that there is no caring communication with neither her nor her family.

There are better places that cost the same or less and offer more.

Allegro Winter Park was not a good fit for our family member. We had several areas of concern. First, the facility has no limited nursing license so they default to sending residents to the hospital. Staff did not consistently check on residents every two hours, per regulation. Staff did not respond consistently to the emergency pull located in the bathroom. Several times when we asked a staff member for help they said they would return to help and then never did. It is near impossible to get administrators on the phone because very few (only one) was willing to provide a direct line; voicemail boxes were often full so it was not possible to leave a message. On several occasions when we called the main number we were hung up on. In sum, communication from the facility was very poor. In fact, on one occasion our family member was taken by EMS to the local hospital and no one from the facility ever notified us, which is unacceptable. I would not recommend this community.

Wouldn't Recommend

We thought it was good in the beginning, but there were things occurring we didn't know about at first. I would not recommend them. We experienced theft - our loved one's rings were literally taken right off of her hand. They were short in staff, and she was not getting the are she needed. They said they would do things and never did them. One Friday night, her fire alarm battery kept beeping in her room, and they told her she would have to deal with it until Monday when maintenance was there. We ended up having to take care of it ourselves. If a person didn't have family able to monitor things, I can't imagine what it would be like. For a very fragile population, it's sad that they don't improve their services.

Community Tour

We had a terrible tour experience. They did not have a marketing director on staff. They had just hired someone who was new to the field and the job, and that person was not at the facility yet. While they figured out who was going to take us on our scheduled tour, there was no place for us to wait when we came in, and my mother was left standing which was difficult for her and left a bad first impression. The person who ended up touring us was the activities director. She was a nice lady, but the activities rooms were in awkward places (up the elevator and down the hall). They were dark. The hallways were narrow. The carpet looked uninviting (with spots and things on it). The lighting was dim throughout. When we went into the apartment itself, it was lovely and bright. But all of the other rooms, though they were clean, looked dark and drab. I didn’t like the way the dining room looked. I was not impressed with anything about the place.
