I visited with my parents and they love the atmosphere, the people and found a perfect cottage. As a worker in the health field, I was very impressed with the health care center. Even though my parents do not need any health care services, it's a good feeling to know that if they do need those services in the future, they will be well taken care of and I will not have to search for those facilities.

Good Reputation

It has a very good reputation and a lot of people have lived there for many years. One lady that has been there since she was 60 and she's now in her 70's. They have everything - apartments, independent living, ALF, and skilled nursing - they meet every need that you might have. It's just big bucks to be able to stay there. It's a buy-in, so you put down X amount of dollars and how long you stay determines the amount you get back. They've been in Orlando for a long, long time, and it is a very nice place. I've never heard anybody say anything bad about it.

Mark Weaver is Awesome

My dad has since moved out of Westminster, but it wasn't because of anything they did. He just didn't want to be in an assisted living place. Mark Weaver at Westminster was great - he was a huge help. Everything about the community was great, can't say enough good about it.

Seems like a nice place

It was nice, of course I liked the downtown on the waterfront and stuff and they were nice to talk to them. We took a 30 minute tour and it looked like a nice place, but she told me pretty much right when we got in the car that she preferred the other place over this because she was more familiar with it.

Fantastic!

Florida Presbyterian Homes has won so many awards! We were really impressed with that! They also are innovators in many areas such as person centered care. They go way out of their way to make sure that the residents have their dreams come true. They even arranged for a former military pilot to have a chance to once more pilot a plane (with a little bit of help). I believe the gentleman was in his 90's. The quality of life is top notch! The setting is just beautiful too. Lake Hunter is a great spot for watching the birds and seeing the aquatic plants blooming. The campus has plants to attract hummingbirds and butterflies. Really nice landscaping! The residents are an active and interesting bunch!

Exceeded our expectations

Things are going great, it's certainly a 5. We chose it for two reasons, number one, it was close to our house and number two just the overall clealiness and professionalism of the staff when we met with them. Since then my mother in law has been very happy there, she's constantly talking about how good the food is and how nice the little programs are and how friendly and helpful the staff is. She enjoys the meals with the other ladies and she meets with them at other times, I think they just sit around and socialize but she's making friends. It's going better than I thought it would. I think it's an upper end facilty but I do think we're getting our money's worth out of it. It's definitely going better than we expected, she seems very very happy which was all we ever wanted.

Nice Place and Good Rehab

I went in to their rehab when I had my last knee replacement and I sat with a lot of the ladies that were in their assisted living. I thought, overall, it was a very nice place. They had 3 or 4 dining rooms and their rehab was nice. The guys that worked on me did a really good job. The expense is a little on the high side but if you can afford it, it's a nice place.

Very, very Five Star!!!

I went to 5 or 6 different places and Westminster was the only place that made you feel like you mattered, that you have value. Other places I toured had a lot of residents hanging around in the lobby with no one attending to them. Not at Westminster, they have been wonderful, everything has been great. The staff is very friendly. There are lots of activities that my loved ones are interested in but haven't started them just yet, so I'll update my "Activities" ratings when I have more perspective.

Overall A Good Place To Be

The administration team is friendly. I feel they genuinely care about the residents. There are some residents that don't live in the main buildings of the community. The general overall feeling feels like we are overlooked since we aren't in the main building. The community was starting to take out of the landscaping without letting the residents know that "our" lawn was going to be disrupted. It was rectified, they didn't end up taking out all plants and replanted, all except for one plant. The monthly fee includes one meal and housekeeping. The food is processed, and the dining room isn't open. I would prefer to have a choice to buy a meal from the community or housekeeping. I feel that the housekeeping is limited due to time and restrictions. The housekeeping is seriously lacking. The main housekeeper is very nice. Overall I wish the communication would be better between the main building and our building. I do have to pay for electric; they pay for cable, and water. You will see a nice community with great landscaping on the outside. I would come back again, since I have a place to live with no maintenance. I would give it a serious thought if I knew about the housekeeping and the processed food. There are a lot of nice people here.

good so far

I have only been living at Westminster Manor for about a month, and these are not typical times, with the coronovirus situation a primary concern. Even so, my reception here has been friendly and comfortable. I came from a senior living community in the midwest, where I had a good experience, and decided to make this move to be closer to my daughter and her family. I think it was a good move, and once activities are again a part of the routine here, plus opportunities to become acquainted with more residents, the experience will be even better. A Place for Mom was instrumental in helping us find this community. My feelings so far are positive. I truly expect that to continue. I really cannot rate some categories since I have not experienced them as yet, so based on expectations, I currently give high marks.

Loved One is enjoying life in ALF.

My loved one is currently in the ALF of the Bradenton Westminster Manor. We are very pleased that she is very well taken care of and looked after especially when we are not there. The staff that cares for her is great and shows common ground with each resident on her floor, even the Director of Nursing checks in from time to time for visits to provide one on one comfort. The food is great as well and if she does not feel up to going to the dining room, they will bring meals directly to her to remove the anxiety of having an 'off' day. The dining staff looks out for her as well to make sure she is getting her fruits and salads each day. We sit by the beautiful new pool and hot tub a lot and enjoy the view of this relaxing space right out in 'our' courtyard. A great place to BE!

So glad I moved here!

Moving here a year ago was the very best decision I could have made. The campus is lovely with a wonderful water view. I love my two bedroom, two & a half bath apartment with balcony. Both inside and out there are features that will be even more important to me as I get older: bright lighting, wide doorways & halls, level sidewalks. Making friends is easy here as we take meals in a dining room and are offered a wide variety of activities and outings.

Within just a few days my apartment felt like "home."

The pre-move information sessions were very helpful and I felt prepared to move. All new residents are assigned a volunteer resident as a host; she phoned before I moved, met me for lunch the next day, answered questions as they came up and helped me get oriented. Both staff and residents are very friendly and welcoming. There are so many activities that it will be hard to pick favorites.

Thank God for places and people like this.

My father was at Winter Park Towers for his rehabilitation after his head injury. Reflecting on the experience, I can not remember anything even remotely negative or neglectful in/with his care. My mother was treated with dignity and respect too (regardless of how many questions she asked). The CNA's are probably the hardest workers in the facility, but their care and assistance and humor is what Dad remembers most. The nursing staff is thorough and knowledgeable. We actually never saw or spoke to/with a doctor the entire time there, so all medical information and whatnot was handled by the nurses. Personalities mesh or don't, even in the nursing profession, so some were more welcoming and compassionate than others. But no one was rude or curt, just professional not chatty. Physical therapy was a God-send, each and every one of them. The "patience of a saint" describes their interactions with my Dad. Speech therapy, Occupational therapy - personable, friendly, and jovial with the family yet determined and comforting to the patient. The social services ladies walked us through many processes unfamiliar to us before this experience. Medicare, Medicaid, VA benefits, supplies needed, transportation to outside doctors and even the denture replacement office. Family meetings were arranged for our questions and understanding. No question was dismissed or ignored. I, and our family, would recommend Winter Park Towers to others. Ours was a short stay (only 90 days) but Dad was able and ready to come home and continue his healing and rehab. Each case is individual. Dad's was as positive as the situation would allow.
