Westchester Assisted Living

It was clean, but little things needed attention. For example name plates were just crossed out instead of new ones for new residents. I also noticed that the more ambulatory they were the more they stayed in their own room.

We met with Kate on Dec 2, 2014. She was very nice and informative. We did not care for the commercial like feeling we got and the showers for a room by yourself is down the hall in laundry area which was crammed full of things. The shared rooms had a shower in them. But it felt like a business not a Home. Does not matter how good of deals they have my Dad has to be in a place that fits our ideal of a place for him to live out his life. Also if they have to do a 2 person lift they charge more.

The staff is friendly, but administration seems frazzled and makes promises that they do not keep. The residents are all complaining, but nothing gets done. My husband‘s been there for two months and we’re still waiting for the emergency pendant. They gave him a little bell to ring if he has an emergency. The facility has great potential, but it needs some up upgrades. The rooms are very spacious with high ceilings, but they smell moldy and need better lighting. Unfortunately, I have been told that most of these assisted living facilities are about the same. The staff seems to be lazy. My husband‘s laundry didn’t get done last week. I’m always having to be on top of the nurses to make sure he gets his medication and they do not have any activities in the place.- for an example, the activities director pulled out her back so they canceled the ice cream social for today- but the bottom line it’s very affordable so I guess you get what you pay for

Too dark a place, not acceptable outside space, too expensive.

Didn't have furnished rooms ready.Said they would have to look around for furniture to set up a room. Need to bring bedding and towels w/ you.

My Dad has been living at Westchester Winter Park for over 2 years. In the beginning, everything was great, but have been declining for a long time. It has been like 3 or 4 Executive Directors, and most of the time, they are short of staff. Dad always complains about medication being late, and today, my brother found him on the floor, dehydrated, and over his fecal. Dad told my brother that he had pressed the help button many times, and nobody had come for help. Now, we are at the hospital, and I don't want to take my dad back to Westchester after he gets discharged from the hospital.
