What a Nice Place!

Vi at Lakeside Village is a "buy-in" Continuing Care facility in Lantana, FL, very close to Boynton Beach, Rte 95, and A-1A. I have heard that they recently opened up some units for rentals, but I do not know about that option. Vi was previously a Classic Residence by Hyatt, and we were concerned when our mom heard that ownership was changing a couple of years ago, about 2011-ish. No worries. It is as nice as ever. Refurbished about that time, Vi continues to be a friendly, clean, beautiful option for continuing care for seniors. Our mom moved in about 8 years ago. She was happy to find many very talented artists, like herself, in residence. Since then, Vi has opened a small gallery of resident artists' work, on the 2nd floor. It was very well received, and Vi went out of their way to make the opening special, at that time. Music, snacks, etc. There is a wide range of activities, and their auditorium hosts various entertainers and speakers. The one important thing about Vi, is the caring employees. Several times our mom needed hospitalization, with follow-up care in their Care Center, near the main entrance. It is clean, and well-staffed in every sense. ([removed] Skilled Nursing Facility)-Plenty of aides, nurses, who go out of their way to make patients feel comfortable. There is also an Assisted Living unit and a Memory Care unit. Vi has independent living apartments that have been upgraded as attrition leaves a unit unoccupied. They have an ample kitchen area, dining table area, living room, screened patio, and 1bedroom. Two full bathrooms are in our mom's unit. They may have 2 bedroom units. I have not seen them. You will always see a friendly face behind the main desk in the large, beautifully furnished entrance area. There is a guard at the gate to monitor visitors. Residents may have parking spaces if needed. Dinner is provided nightly, 7 days a week. The dining areas are attractive, with linen table cloths nightly. Servers provide the meals. The menu has many options. There is a cafe open for breakfast and lunch with very reasonable prices and several food options. Lunches may be arranged in the dining room. We have arranged special birthday parties during the quieter lunch time, in the dining area. There is also a bar/lounge area with a fireplace, where many folk hang out before dinner. Also, very reasonable bar prices. Overall, Vi is a friendly, lovely residence for seniors. And for a special treat, a boat ride along the beautiful Lake Osborne, right behind Vi, may be arranged on Fridays. Grandkids, both young and old, always enjoy the ride. We are happy that our mom found this place for herself.

I Love Living at Vi of Highlands Ranch

I have lived here for 7 years. One of the best decisions I have ever made. I am in independent living, but have had 3 major surgeries in the past 7 years. Each time went to our 5 star care center and had the best care anybody could ask for. If a resident is unhappy here they are free to leave, We are a continuing care community. with Assisted Living, Skilled Nursing and Memory Care. I plan to make this my "Last Stop".

The only thing that could be better is the food. All the services are wonderful. They will post a calendar of daily activities. They have bus trips out.I would recommend this community.

There attention to detail and the process was fantastic. There is a sales rep there named Kelly and she is one of the best I've met over there! She had it together and made us feel like a million bucks. It's a little on the pricey side but the facility is excellent, so you get what you pay for! My aunt is enjoying the experience and they were accommodating with the transition it took for her to move from independent to assisted living.

It is a great facility with extensive amenities. The grounds are magnificent, well maintained and landscaped. The downside is the lack of available units (we were unable to see any at all) and the significant cost (both entry fees and monthly maintenance.

inneapolis, it is way overpriced. But, this is were my family is.

Beautiful facilities, lots of activities—often run by residents rather than paid staff, residents are friendly but at the same time very clicky. Compared to similar facility in Minneapolis, Vi is way overpriced (along with others in the Denver area) but this is where my family is. The entrance fee is very high, but there are benefits later in the pricing if assisted living, memory care, or skilled nursing is needed. Transitional care is also available. All of these advanced levels of care do require a physical move.

Excellent visit and tour. Lunch was excellent but took a long time to serve. Have to pay a fee that would result in most having to sell a primary or secondary residence to afford. Have three tiers to get a percent of the fee back. Also, there is a monthly fee based on the size and type of unit. Appears to have all the services one needs in one place for a person who needs to advance from independent living to assisted living, then to nursing home care. We plan to spend a couple of nights at the place to get a better feel for it.

My mom once stayed here previously. It is a up scale community. We were offerd a meal and it was very good. They did offer alot of activities for good participation. The staff were very nice and caring. My mom would of chosen this community, but it did not have a room with the view of the ocean that she is enjoying. I know that this is a great community and we would recommend this for other families and there loved ones.

A few things they might not mention

A great place. The sales people will tell you what's good. Here is a couple of heads-ups for prospective residents based on my parent's first 3 months. When you schedule a visit make sure they also schedule the medical interview for you or you'll have to make a second trip. If you live out of town that's a big deal. The dining room closes at 4:00 on Sundays. The golf cart shuttles travel in one direction. if you're in the wrong part of the loop it could take a while to get to the dining hall.

Be sure you understand what is offered.

This place thinks it is better than it is because the business development people, and presumably management and administrators, only view what they provide relative to what else is available in the area, rather than in comparison to "what could be." Do not expect a personalized experience. Do not expect great care. Do not expect what they offer to replace the care a friend, family member, or good companion would provide. This is a for-profit business. Profit is their primary motivation.

Warehouse for the Aged (albeit a nice warehouse)

Beware of entering a "tiered" facility, because if down the road you find yourself needing assisted living or nursing care, you may not end up very happy. My parents are at Vi. They've been in independent living, assisted living and now nursing care. This review is, in particular, about the nursing care center - the place where you or your loved ones at Vi will end up if you need a lot of care. If you end up as a long term care resident, it is a warehouse - albeit a clean one, with a crew of aides that are generally quite good at their tasks. But (A) the place has the feel of a plantation (a bit disconcerting for those of us who don't live in the south), and (B) there is little-to-no truly individualized attention to the "whole person," and (C) emotional and social care is deficient, and (D) the food is generally far from wholesome and healthy (think fatty, sugary, salty). The care center administrator is all about putting up barriers to doing anything for individuals -- it is show. This is the crux of the problem. The place is not staffed with enough help - so exceptional care ... forget it. And the medical care - mediocre. They are good at following instructions and prescriptions, but don't expect them to be proactive, or even be able to identify anything beyond an urgent problem in their midst. And despite the fact that music has been shown to be a useful therapy for everyone, the administration won't even pay for a music/radio package through Comcast. You get the picture. You will NOT be wowed by this place if you explore the care center. My recommendation: Stay away.

Independent living nice/ Care Center a nightmare

Independent living amenities and restaurants are wonderful. Hope that you don’t have to spend your final days in the Care Center because your wishes will Probably not be honored, even if documents have been filed. A doctor never showed up to assess our mother’s condition as she lay gasping her final breaths, hospice was not called, even though we had made arrangements through [removed], the hospice center recommended by Bentley’s social worker, and a total lack of compassion was shown.
