The Normandy Senior Living

It's been great so far. We are pretty happy with them. I haven't had any complaints at this time. It's kept nice and clean, and all the people are nice. It fit our needs and our budget, and it seems to be working out fine.

The community of residents are fantastic. The high up staff are not in any hurry to assist residents or even respond to emails or calls for assistance. Food service people are nice, but the food is only tasty when the one certain cook in on duty. Maintenance is slow to fix anything or respond. My sister said staff regularly barge into her apartment without knocking. The upper staff are only considered about selling or collecting rent and otherwise the place is very nice. I don't think we would recommend this community living space primarily because of the way the residents are treated and the lack of response to concerns brought before the sales rep and comptroller.

I was only at Breakwater for 4 months, they basically evicted me cause I had to much stuff in my apartment & the cleaning lady could not clean! Even though it took them 4 months to set up the cleaning person, the only room still with boxes was the so called living/dining room since I was waiting on my son to put together the storage units. The place was really not for me they regulated when you were to get up & press a button daily, you got charged for drinks without notice with the meals that were delivered lukewarm or cold. It was no community nor welcoming place. I'm not real happy about losing [fee removed] dollars either! You need to be able to open the door to the garbage shoot (which if you have no strength in your hands is extremely difficult) even though that was the cleaning lady's job that she didn't do! Fix issues that arise such as black mold on the ceiling of my apartment which with COPD isn't great! Fix the lock on the door so the key works to open it! Being basically harassed the first week by so called greeters when you're trying to set things up & unpack. The carpets in the halls weren't exactly clean either!

It is so dirty. Toilet been broken. My 89 year old father was having a meltdown. And instead of calling hospice. They called police. And my poor father 89 years old 164 pounds. Was man handled into an ambulance by police. In hospital for 3 days came back toilet still not flushing. I was told they told nurse next time call hospice. Why was staff not informed to call hospice care first. The floor s gross I bring my own cleaning supplies to clean. Windows dirty. Top of cabinets. You just don’t.

My sister has been at Normandy for 16 months or so. If I could give them a minus 0 in all those categories, I would. They treat the residents horrible. Terrible people run that place. I would not place my worst enemy in there. There should be a full investigation on what exactly goes on there

It is clear that the experience in the independent living area of Normandy is significantly different from our experience with a family member who was in the memory care area. The level of incompetence regarding the most routine of issues has been astonishing. Property disappearing and being told "it happens" is just not acceptable. The staff was unable to accommodate dietary restrictions on a consistent basis, causing significant weight loss and exacerbating other health issues. We have also waited nearly 3 weeks for medical records to be released, despite a State requirement that they be provided within 2 business days. I do not recommend this facility for memory care patients. The administration is inept and non-responsive at best. Your loved ones deserve better.
