Preferred Care at Home

My parents are doing well since they started to receive services from Preferred Care. The care giver's they have sent has been great. They are attentive to my parents, and also follows my directions very well. This is a good agency and has been great to working with them. This is a great home care agency and I would recommend it.

This is a lovely community, but unfortunately they were not able to provide my mother the type of care she needed. Everybody was very kind and friendly. The community is very well maintained, her room was nice and clean when I visit. There are activities offered for the residents. The food could use some improvements. The director was very helpful and kind, she was great to work with. Overall it was a pleasant experience.

It's been a great experience so far. The caretaker does a good job. My mom believes they're old old friends from the past, and they spend the day together. It's great! It's especially good for my father, and gives him some time to get out with me, as he's been the primary care giver full time, and that's been weighing on him a lot. It's all working out well!

Working with this agency has been a blessing and a curse. The staff have been great and done really great with my mother although the services were short lived because of an incident that took place. During the night we needed the caregiver to take my mother to the restroom and we asked that we had a caregiver that didn't smoke. My mom was a smoker or 40 years and didn't need to be exposed. Well the caregiver ended up being a smoker and abandoning her duties in the evening (taking mom to the restroom). That really irritated my brother which resulted in the caregiver having to leave. We have since asked for a replacement and still waiting to hear back. Today is Friday and I really need a caregiver by Monday! I'm hoping Barbara will call!

Overall our experience with Preferred Care at Home was a good one. The management staff were friendly and professional, and helped us in resolving an issue we had with one of the caregivers they sent out.

Preferred Care at Home of Nashville South, work well to assist you in your needs and help in pairing you with someone who can care for you properly. They come into our home and assist with my mom, the primary care person is great.

The girls were very friendly and did exactly what they were expected to do. They were there to keep an eye on my mom and did exactly that. My mom and liked them and their care was sufficient. I have no complaints.

The Preferred Care at Home is a great In-Home company. they do what their suppose to do and are great taking care of my loved one. He is in really great hands and couldnt be happier when they come out and take care of him.

Things seem to be going well so far. They've done a good job handling Dad's care needs and Mom seems to really appreciate the help.

Preferred care at Home of Macomb is a home care provider. They haven’t missed any appointments. We haven’t had any negative experiences with this home care provider yet.

Talked quite a while with the Director who is so helpful. May be getting her and my Mom together for more discussion, but my Mom is reluctant to take any steps at this point.

The sitters are great. Paper work is a little slow at times.

We used them a few times. Barbara was a very nice lady, but the people she sent to me just weren't good fits. They didn't seem to be strong enough for the job we had. They were nice though.

Mom was easy to care for. What I did not like was twice the staff was a no show and I could not get her or the supervisor on the phone. I think it was a total of 4 weekends, 2 which were no shows. I cancelled after the second time. When first contacted by Preferred Care staff was caring and knowledgeable regarding the things I needed help with for my mom. Bathing went well, she was gentle and soft spoken with mom, and mom was comfortable with a "stranger" taking care of her. One weekend that the staff did not show was Mother's Day weekend and she said she had told her supervisor she wanted off. We received a nice welcome gift also.

There is inconsistent coverage which sends inconsistent message to mom; I would caution anyone showing up in their shower cap, not professional. Everyone doing this kind of work with the dementia pt. should be mandated to watch [name removed]; for the meals and dining - family provided but mom's schedule seems to not get relayed to new person coming and I'm not always here; Mom mom definitely not ready for a baby doll, again [name removed]; I know that it is really hard work, and that everyone is trying hard. I believed my mother would be best served with 7 days week for 4-6 hrs, and my father refuses.

Overall is given the above rating because they never provided the days of service requested. By the time services were provided, I was in dire need of a respite break that I had to take. Of course that added to the difficult of filling the case. Along with receiving authorization for services through the Veterans Administration. Understanding, that I informed them that I would private pay until authorization was granted. There company did an assessment for our case in [date removed], our case did not start to receive services until [date removed] . I felt like that was entirely too long and it was too overwhelming for me to start the process with another company. I do believe that they were seeking out workers, but in this day and age those in this field are declining.

The care received was good, but we were charged for time in two instances after the caregiver had left, and the company was unwilling to resolve this. If using them, be diligent about tracking time and comparing to what is invoiced.

If you in a pinch and need someone now I would take a look, if not I would look into private pay. The communication was not very good and I did not feel they communicated unless you were there. I would only recommend for a short term fix

Working with Preferred Care at Home wasn't a complete disaster. One of the caregivers was great. She did her job efficiently and I really hated to see her go. Her replacement on the other hand just sat there and talked on her phone the majority of her shift and I did not appreciate that at all. The case managers were good. They were very proactive with solving any issues we had. I did appreciate that but would not recommend them.

This company is hard to communicate with.
