I toured this community and I was disappointed. The rooms were small and not very nice, very small community, not a lot of activity going on. Not what we were looking for.

No activities residents just sit and brains get no exercise

The facility is very small with limited parking. The staff were nice but I felt my mother would need a more active community.

I was not impressed with this place at all during my tour of the facility. It was very loud and noisy throughout the building and everything just felt very disorganized. I was also not a fan of the layout they had, the rooms where very tiny and unmanageable in my opinion. It just would not have been the right fit for my mother.

I am not getting the services promised to me in the beginning at Memory Care Living at Woodcliff Lake. [removed] The food quality is poor and very non nutritional. There are only two aids that are there for 14 staff. I was told I need to buy a wheelchair for mom but every time I am there she isn't in it. Sometimes she is in someone else's and sometimes they are in hers. Her clothes are always missing even though we labeled them. There have been several medication mix ups. I am not happy at all with the service I am getting and the amount of money I am paying. I am not satisfied with this facility at all.

You have to be very, very clear what is wrong with your loved one and what you’re expecting from their service. I don’t think they made much attention to my loved one. They were forewarned about concerns and they just didn’t have enough staff to respond properly. I wasn’t comfortable with them. Everyone I spoke to didn’t speak English properly.

Not very well maintained. Torn furniture.

My family member was there for three weeks and fell numerous times. Obviously not being monitored properly. Removed him after three weeks.

Today I tried to contact the billing office for over an hour without success. They are very willing to take your money and return no services. Don't follow their recommendations or your loved one will end up in a psychiatric hospital. I feel a bit foolish for being so gullible and giving them money.

I wouldn’t recommend placing your loved one in their care. My grandmother was in their care for about a year and a half until her death. Staff was extremely inconsistent - during that year and a half, there were three different managers and I know that after my grandmother left, the third one was fired. My grandmother had dementia and would lock herself in her room, no one would check on her, she had multiple falls that landed her in the hospital. There were less than 10 residents at the time and the caretakers there simply did not provide adequate care. Many times when I visited, they were either on their phones or were sitting on the couch sleeping. Do not place your loved one in their care!!!

I have to comment negative on all seven - On [date removed] I asked an aide to help me walk my husband from kitchen area to TV area and she gave me a loud, flat out no on [date removed] around midnight my husband fell, was taken to hospital and died 16 days later. He was there approximately 3 months and lost almost 30 lbs They only had two aides who sat at head of TV room and watched the occupants all day. I told them the night he fell that he would not be back The only interest was that I had to pay for the next month as to my contract They never called to inquire into his condition. He was covered in black and blues and when I asked, it was always his fault They kept telling me they were trained to care for him but (now) I do not believe it

We needed a place for my father with dementia. When we brought him in for an assessment, they didn't say anything about assisted living being an option. They just said they could take him. They didn't tell us they were closing in 60 days for construction, so we ended up having to move him shortly after moving in. They gave us the 30-day notice of that construction during the Holidays, the timing of which is unethical. They completely dropped the ball on his PT. He has diabetes, and they were supposed to check his blood sugar in the mornings. They barely ever did that, if ever. There was a Covid outbreak, and they never communicated that to the family, nor did they give status updates of any sort. I never saw one single email from the management team during the couple of months he was there. I felt that the aides were really friendly, but the admin/management staff were not so great. The director left, and they never communicated to the families about that transition. They got my dad's laundry mixed up. His watch disappeared. When we took his clothes home, we had to throw them away because the water coming out of the washing machine was filthy. I have nothing positive to say about my experience with Fox Trail. In my opinion, the place should be shut down.

This home was very good until the nurse resident manager left for health issues. History of understaffing causes stress to aides. They struggle to provide activities. Many good aides don’t last. Requires a lot of follow-up to make sure your loved one is taken care of. Lack of communication to family members about their loved ones even when they are not doing well. Terrible record keeping of your loved one and they don’t pass on information to aides during shift changes. It’s dirty. Feces were on a wall next to a toilet on the wall. Bedrooms are not swept. Patients wear 2/3 diaper underwear. They get soaked. During sundowning, they have tied patients to their chairs with sheets. I bought a couch for them and they allowed patients to sleep on it during the night who urinated in it. After my mom died, I reported them to the NJ Ombudsman and they were cited for violations.

My husband lost over 40 lbs in [time frame removed]. Problem was behavioral I was told they were educated in the problem but they were not According to them everything that happened to him was his fault They said he fought their assistance but when I asked an aide to help me walk him from one room to another she yelled "no" I am not against your putting it on your website but I would prefer first name or initials Advise anyone signing on with any place to really read the contract

Think twice before placing a loved one in this facility. It’s nothing but a BIG LIE and a show. The residents are literally bored to death. It’s a revolving door of help who don’t appear to be qualified or held accountable for their job responsibilities. There is no supervision so they sit on their phones while the residents stare at nothing. Forget about healthy meals too. There is a menu that no one follows and it’s mostly processed foods that are prepared in a filthy kitchen. My mother looks like a bag lady. Her hair is matted to her head, she had dried food on her chin, no bra, food on her shirt, etc. There is no dignity or respect for the residents. Very sad! They need to be fined and shut down! Don’t do this to your loved ones.

Our family had an in person tour and it was a bad first impression. They messed up our appointment, the staff were not friendly at all, we did not really care for that and the place is much smaller.

Sadly, my family had a several unpleasant events happen here. My father along with everyone else was fed pasta with cold catsup on it. His new clothing was on other male members numerous times. There was errors in his medication by more than one staff nurse and he fell there which was unreported. In the four short months of his stay we had one problem after another. It looked great upon admitting him but everything there after was disappointing.

If you’re reading this review, I know from my experience this is a trying and extremely stressful time. Trying to find the absolute best care for a loved one, while also grieving the gradual loss of your loved one to dementia is daunting. I typically hate to write a negative review about any business. But, retrospectively, having had more information at the time would have been very helpful and may have spared our family further pain. I wish I would have had more access to candid feedback, therefore I feel it’s my responsibility to share my experience for the next person. My father was a resident at the Fox Trail Memory Care south river facility for a total of five months. It was our desire for him to stay in the same facility until his passing however we ultimately had to move him as we did not believe this facility was capable of providing adequate care. I’m aware that no facility is perfect, and I have no expectations of perfection. There’s always good and bad so let me start with something positive. Most staff members from the caregivers to the management team, seemed to be kind hearted and well intentioned people who perform a difficult and demanding job. Unfortunately, there was a lack of competence and consistency in their care which makes me struggle to find more positives. I’m of the strong opinion that the facility was woefully and consistently understaffed. It was common to have 2 staff members care for 12-14 residents. Their responsibilities included not only resident care such as bathing, dressing, feeding but also ancillary house care such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, trash removal, and resident stimulation and activities. As a result, the facility was never consistently good in any area. Specifically the issues we dealt with in our time there was: Issues with cleanliness (specifically bathrooms) Issues with building maintenance such as non working toilets, warped flooring that was left unresolved for months Consistently Lost items including hearing aides, glasses, iphone Mixed up clothing (residents wearing other residents clothing) Poor patient hygiene (lack of soap and paper towels consistently in bathrooms) To be fair, the facility did not encounter every one of these issues on a daily basis however these issues were far too frequent to be the occasional outliers. The issue was a complete lack of consistency. When these issues were brought to the company’s attention, they had acknowledged their shortcomings. They had recently hired a new management team who met with the families and put together a corrective plan of action. This management team seemed competent and caring and for this reason we were in no rush to leave. Unfortunately the change came far too slowly for us. To be accurate, we saw an effort in the form of hiring cleaning services and putting funds into building maintenance however the underlying problems all related directly to resident care & the lack of adequate staffing did not change in our time there. I believe the lack of staffing contributed to every issue I outlined plus a very poor employee morale. I clearly could not recommend this facility at this time. I certainly hope they do improve their operations for the good of the residents. If you are looking at any one of their facilities I would strongly encourage you to ensure that these issues have been remedied.

Disgusting what I witnessed first hand with my own eyes. Listen up people, you do not want your loved ones living here. Cannot believe my eyes, employees arguing abut their own persoal business, instead of taking care of the patients in there care. They're very rude and misleading. Visiting my Mum one day, I asked her if they took her outside, she said no, and no exercise. Most of the time they will not let you get out of your seat , if you do, you get yelled at and pushed back down in your wheelchair or seat. Hygiene is appalling. The two bathrooms off the hallway have no soap or paper towels to clean your hands. Soiled sofas, cobwebs in corners, overall very dirty. The fighting and tumultuous behavior between patiences is very dangerous. This was observed on several occasions. Numerous sources have informed me that the police have been summoned to this location for several dangerous and tumultuous situations. Do you want your loved one subjected to this kindof danger.
