Very nice place, overall!

Overall I'm very pleased with how things have gone at Maple Heights! It's a very nice looking place, and everyone has been very very friendly! They really welcomed my Mom with open arms. They've got a good variety of activities, and a great meal service as well! The only real issue I have is that they really need more elevators, things can get quite backed up during busy times. But overall they do an excellent job here, and I would highly recommend it!

Nice place, so far

We've had a good experience with Sterling House so far. The facility itself is very clean and well kept, and the staff have all been very friendly. The community has a nice family atmosphere, and we feel like they treat us just as well as they treat our loved one who lives there! She has had some complaints about the food, and having tried it myself I agree that it could use improvement. It's not bad, but could definitely be better.

A good place to be

Mom has adapted well to assisted living in part due to the care of the staff. Lance does a tremendous job with the activities he organizes; Mom wishes more of the residents took advantage of them. She loves the reading of the newspaper and she likes the shopping trips but wishes that they would go to smaller stores (Dollar Stores)sometimes rather than the big box stores (a little overwhelming,) The food is okay, but she wishes it was a little spicier and that the coffee was caffeinated! (She knows however that they are trying to juggle a lot of diet restrictions.) On the negative side, we got the billing confusion straightened out after worrisome number of days. And she wishes some of the residents would not complain so much - but the staff can't control that. Over all, I think she is pretty happy there!

There is some room for improvement...

The personal spaces could be kept a little cleaner, the overall public areas are kept pretty clean. They have plenty of activities, my loved one chooses not to participate. The food seems to be fine. I would like to see them be a little more prompt when a call is put in. We liked the location, and the fact that they had a full time medical staff onsite. Some of the aides could be trained a little better.

I was impressed with what I saw. The rooms we nicely decorated and welcoming. The companion room was large with an architectural design that offered privacy for both occupants. There were several family gathering places. The planned activities were varied. The problem is the cost. The basic rate is reasonable, but all of the services are el a carte and the upfront community fee is equal to one month's rent which is extreme! Mom would come in (according to the present assessment)at the highest level. Every time she needed something, there would be a price tag on the service. We can't afford this place.

Newer Community!!

My mother has recently made the move into this community and so far I have no complaints of how things are going. The facility is a lot newer so I am hoping once they get some more experience with how things go, everything will run smoother. The staff have been kind and I am comfortable with the care they have been providing my mother at this time.

Satisfied overall

Overall we're satisfied with our experience at Brookdale Delta. The facility itself is clean and well kept, and the people who work here do their best to help the residents. I do think they could stand to add a few more people to the staff for some additional hands-on help, but generally we are satisfied.

I can’t say Mom doesn’t complain, but I understand why she does. For the level of money being spent, I don’t feel the overall experience matches the cost. The workers who care for my mother are amazing, and I truly appreciate the compassion and effort they show her. However, the facility itself feels a little lackluster and doesn’t have the warm, home-like feeling I would expect for the amount we are paying. I also feel the staff training could be much more focused on the memory-care side of things, especially when it comes to providing meaningful, dementia-oriented experiences and activities. Memory care shouldn’t feel like the goal is simply to keep residents quiet or sedated. Residents with dementia need engagement, patience, stimulation, and activities that give them a sense of purpose and connection. My mother does not want to be there, but unfortunately, we haven’t found another option that is more affordable. She is almost out of funds, and we are now looking into selling her house to help pay for her care. Even after selling the house, she may only be able to afford around $[removed] a month while still having a few hundred dollars left for her basic personal needs. This is an incredibly difficult situation for families. My hope is that the facility will continue improving the memory-care experience, particularly the environment, activities, and dementia-specific training, so residents can have a better quality of life and families can feel more confident that their loved ones are receiving the level of care they are paying for.

Very friendly staff

The building is old, needs some work. There's different size apartments. My wife can be difficult. She has vascular dementia, so she's declining slowly, so there's not a lot that the staff can do. They try to get her to do activities and stuff, but she's getting to the point where she does want to do a lot of stuff, staff itself. They're shorthanded as usual, just like in any healthcare facility these days. Seems like they do have quite a few activities. They have therapy dogs that come by and see the people in the rooms. Food seems to be okay too so overall. You know I for the price that I have to pay. I don't think she'd be doing better in any other place. The staff there is very friendly. They've answered all my questions when I ask them. And also, when I talk to the nurse, she tells me what's going on with my wife.

Great in 2025 but slipping in 2026

1. 3 (overall experience is declining) 2. 4 (turnover and lower wages are showing here) 3. 4 (most of the staff are still friendly) 4. 3 (quality declining as experienced staff leave for better pay) 5. 2 (They were getting bills from the pharmacy and not giving them to me to pay until [name removed] stepped in) 6. 5 (Food quality is still great!) 7. 3 (There aren't as many things as when mom first moved in) 8. 4 (Still a value in the market, but the workers need to be paid more to stay competitive)

Review for Maple Heights Retirement Community

The woman who did the initial intake process was great but she was not honest about how the transportation worked. When I reached out, she never responded. It may me feel as though it was a "money grab" as opposed to having the patient's interest as the most important thing. Thankfully the front desk staff was really nice. Overall I was happy with the accommodations and it proved to be a nice transition from the hospital prior to my sister going home permanently. I did recommend the facility to others for temporary, short term respite care. I cautioned them to be mindful of the young lady though. I'm not even sure if she is still there or not. I didn't appreciate being lied to and certainly didn't appreciate not receiving a response when I reached out again.

Helpful with setting up and assisting families . It recommended for more high functioning people. My mom is more high functioning than the people that lived there so it wasn't a fit for her . I was disappointed they don't assist with rides to doctors appointments

Review for Care Cardinal Belmont

Care Cardinal was bought out around the time that we moved my mom. The place we had planned to move her to, was closed and so we ended up at another place which gave her adequate care. I was frustrated that in a few days time we were told yes and then we were told no. We moved her into another one of their places which was a long drive for me. I had been looking for some place close. So it was a hard move, hard on my mom and hard on me but mom adjusted and so did I. The care was ok. I see problems with most places although that care for memory care patients. I hear so many frustrations. I found there were good people working there and that is what I choose to focus on. My mom was content and she also had hospice care which gave a higher level of care for her than I think she would have had with just the place she was at.
