A Place for Mom has scored Oakmont Management Group with 8.6 out of 10 using our proprietary review score based on 1,093 reviews in the last 2 years. Over all time, Oakmont Management Group has 3,922 reviews with an average "overall experience" of 4.3 out of 5.
Their "memory care" center has no actual memory care. They have no actual nurses on staff. It's all what they call med techs. No certification to give medications. The person giving your parents their medication is paid $[fee removed] per hour. They don't know what to look for if there's a problem. CNA's? They call them CM's because they have no training there either.

It's hard to put in a single comment. Just to remember that the place is in business to make money and that is their most important goal is to make as much money as possible off of you. They had absolutely no problem TAKING [price removed] out of my dads bank account for his 20 day stay. They took [removed]k out 9 days after he died. Absolutely no consideration that my dad was taken to hospice and died within the week. While I was trying to grieve and plan a funeral I was getting checks returned to me because they were busy taking every penny he had left from his checking account. No human compassion, nothing! It's money money money It's disgusting! I've told one of your employees already that I planned on making sure that I take every step possible to insure the most amount of people will hear about my experience at Bonaventure.

If you value the safety of your loved one, DO NOT let them live at Oakmont. Yes, the building is lovely, and the sales presentation is great, but that's all. They honestly do not care about anything but money. They didn’t give my mom her meds on time, if at all. They say they're doing their routine checks, but they didnt check on her. They severely injured my mom by letting her fall out of the wheelchair while pushing it, then lie to the EMT who got called for the fall about how it happened. This place should be investigated for how horribly they treat their residents, I am appalled at how my mother was treated. They respond to the bad reviews and say "that didn't happen" but they lie!

Facility staff don't know what they are doing, don't coordinate well, and don't follow through. Service plans don't reflect actual support provided to residents. I also understand most of the management team are no longer there- you can read it to that any way you want. Ombudsman is currently looking into our concerns.

My mother died the week after Ivy took over. If it hadn't been for Hospice care I would not have kept her there. Ivy changed the nurses, became very cut and dried about what they would change. The food was all soft foods no real activities because they cut the activity directors hours and after my mom died they gave me Twenty four hours to clean out her room and still charged me for three days extra. No value for the money and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who cares about their family member. Sunrise was a blessing before Ivy bought it!

Worse service by [name removed], been waiting for my mom's part of her refund for over 50 days and they just told me that I have to keep on waiting. My mom has mild Alzheimer's and she changed her mind the next day we signed the contract. They said they were going to refund her part of her down payment, which we had agreed on. They charged her for the entire month plus a down payment. My mom never moved in, they never gave her the keys. They stole her money and this is unacceptable and will take legal action.

My father stayed here for 14 months and the staff misclassified his level of care in order to charge a higher monthly fee in the memory care unit. When we informed them that he was moving the reviewed his level of care and determined that he was misclassified and offered a lower monthly fee if he stayed. A new management company took over the facility last year and there were staff cuts and no one follows up on emails or returns phone calls. Would not recommend this facility.

I lived here for 1-1/2 years. Fortunately, my family pulled me out after some bad experiences. I only got worse there. The staff is bossy, uncaring, and always “too busy to help.” There are one or two great people, but most obviously hate their jobs. The manager only cares about the money! We got charged for services they did not provide. Stay away!

Oakmont looks lovely when you walk in and tour. I was so excited to put my mom here. But months later, she stated falling all the time, sleeping all day, not eating or communicating. I was told her condition was worsening and she needed hospice. My mom was wheelchair bound, sleeping, not eating and covered with bruises from multiple falls. After a bad fall an employee pulled me aside and told me I needed to report Oakmont and move my mom out. I did just that!! My mother is a different person, She is happy, awake all day, eating 3 meals and using her walker. She is more communitive. At Oakmont she was over medicated and room bound so they could charge me for more care. SHAME ON YOU OAKMONT!!

The Ivy is a beautiful place, clean. But I didn't feel it was safe for my friend. They are a fall risk and with the physician not treating her when she fell and refuse treatment, that was alarming because of her insurance. The facility should known that. If someone looking to place their family member in the facility, make sure that the administrator staff let's the potential client that the physician on staff, will not treat their love ones if they have Kaiser insurance. And if their loved ones need assistant living, just don't offer independent living just because assistant living is not available. There are safety issues, and escorts are not always available, and there is cost for escorts to and from meals, exercises, etc.

This facility never should have accepted my mom. She was too acute with too high needs and her life was at risk being at this facility. She had a terrible stroke and could not feed herself, move, in diaper. I would come see her and realize nobody had changed her / moved her in 24 hours, food was left for her but never fed to her, and I overhead an aid saying crude comments to her when I arrived one day. I don’t trust them. I had to move my mom immediately to a skilled nursing facility and Ivy park oakland hills didn’t give me all her meds which we took a week to discover. After I realized she was given meds incorrectly (ie- crushed when should not be). I moved my mom immediately when I realized what was happening. I would never ever recommend this place. After I verbalized my feelings I had an Ivy Park employee agree with me - saying I was not wrong about my observations and if it were their mom they also would move her also. Then they wanted to charge us for the full month.

The residence compared well to other SF residences and we had high hopes for my mother when she joined the community 3 years ago. However, they were chronically understaffed, turned over management companies, management staff, and pharmacy management 3 times in 3 years. While there are definitely caring staff on the team, it was incredibly difficult to get consistent information on care being provided to my mother. When we finally made the hard decision to move my mother elsewhere, we were ghosted by management and have yet to receive the refunds for unused rent and care fees. Disappointing way to close out our experience.

When this changed from a Sunrise to an Ivy Park the quality of care became so much worse. Especially in Memory Care where they need so much more. There was one night where there were only two care givers on duty in the entire building - overnight! That's incredibly dangerous for our loved ones. And with only two or three people on duty in Memory Care with about 30 residents, how do they 'refresh' everyone in a timely manner when most residents require two people to attend to them. So our loved ones sit in unclean diapers for far too long and the medical problems that come from that only make them worse. Look elsewhere.

When they moved into the Ivy their room was not clean and my son’s girlfriend had to do a thorough cleaning herself, especially the bathroom. After that I remember her saying the staff quality of care wasn’t very good and they didn’t get a lot of the attention they needed. They were moved as soon as a 24 hour care facility had space and they are very happy now!

My mother-in-law lived at The Carlotta in Palm Desert for a few years. In March of 2023, she moved from her casita (on site) to their assisted living facility where she passed away in August 2023. She loved living there! Unfortunately, as of today [date removed], we're still trying to get our large deposit back. We keep getting the run around and now nobody will return calls or emails. I had written a negative review before and another family contacted me because they too were having the same issue (their case is even older than ours!). It's terrible that a "nice" place like this doesn't want to give your money back. Based on this, I would NOT recommend this place. My mother-in-law would be so upset if she knew what her beloved Carlotta is doing to her family. P.S. The Carlotta had said they were using her casita as a model and that's why it wasn't sold. Why are we having to pay for them to use it as a model? Give us our money back and you can do whatever you'd like with it.

I live at Bonaventure and when we first moved in, it was ok and in the last 2 months, it has gone downhill more than ever. Too many new employees coming and going, it isn't consistent. The directors they hire stay for a short time and then quit. This place is dirty and the food is terrible. My wife and I pay a lot to live here and are now thinking we need to move. They promise you all sorts of things when you are looking at the place and none of them are true. I would not recommend this place.

I would tell others looking that if a 100 year old dies or needs to move on the 8th of the month the bill will be for TWO months and the person or family receives a phone call and letter from a lying attorney in Florida. Two months notice is "required" ... Such vile BS. I offered to immediately pay a reasonable amount eg $[removed]. but they wanted $[removed]. plus Heck, they might get a person to pay AND re rent the room so get double. I do not recommend them.

I wouldn’t recommend this facility to anyone. My husband’s stay was a nightmare. Two days within his stay he fell because he was unattended on his left shoulder, until this day his doctor ordered PT and he’s in constant pain. Room was dirty, they left him in wet sheets overnight and he developed a rash on his privates. He was mishandled at night by two male attendants, which we reported. Last full day he was there I found his wet sheets with a dirty pull-up stuffed up in corner of his closet ! We moved him out next morning after 10 days terrible stay! Bad bad experience!!!!

We had an AWFUL experience with Ivy Park. We moved Mom to a different facility and she has since passed a year ago [date removed] . I would never recommend Ivy Park to anyone. They need to improve on everything. I don't feel they are properly trained or knowledgeable enough to provide Personalized individual care for Memory Care Patients. They never made sure mom's dentures were cleaned, at one point when she wasn't eating and she told us it was because her mouth was sore. When we checked her dentures they were covered with black mold. We were asked to bring personal grooming supplies, which we did, then they asked us to bring more. When we got to Mom's room, we found all of the original products that we brought, and none of them had even been used. Mom's hearing aids were lost within the first week of her being there. Mom was ambulatory when we first put her in the facility and within a few weeks she was not walking anymore and was not able to get out of a wheelchair after that. Mom was constantly exit seeking while she was there and begging us to get her out of there . This did not happen when we put her in the new facility. Our overall experience was very negative and as I stated before, we would never recommend this place to anyone.
