Liked all of the common areas, seemed very clean. Assisted living apts. seem small but nice. Did not like that they don't have Wifi b/c my mom loves her computer. Not so big on assigned seating all of the time; food was average but service seemed good. I worry that some of the staff are not even LPNs; many are CPAs or only go through Brandywine's training. Liked that they have 24/7 nurse on-site and can do sliding scale insulin. would prefer a place that has skilled nursing on-site. Liked the 92 degree salt water pool (but a little small) and all of the activities; liked the Memory care area and courtyard. About 22 residents in memory care; all beds full. I think 40-some in Assisted Living. About 5-6 couples. Did have a small fitness center that he could use, but I think w/ supervision. LOVED that all residents are Longwood Gardens members, and they have transportation there 3X/week. Loved the front family room and porch area; loved the colorful aquarium. Liked the country kitchen area w/ access to snacks.

Brandywine Living At Livingston

After having some issues with the medical staff at her previous community, I moved my friend to a new community. We came across Brandywine, but it was too expensive. For some time, they reached out to me a lot, but it was still out of my friend's price range. Finally, they agreed to give us a better price for what they said was going to be better care than what she was previously receiving. After the Covid-19 pandemic came about, they informed me that they would not be able to continue with my friend's care. In addition to this, they have been difficult to get information from regarding her care. The staff seems very overwhelmed and they oversold me on what they were going to have available for my friend. The community is beautiful, and very clean. They have a lot of activities as well for the residents to participate in. The food is also much better than at my friend's previous community.

Great Place but needs a tweak

As a Long Term Family member I have seen a lot over the years I have to say Reflections (Dementa] needs a serious Re Do !!! Activities they need more! More Engaging! Sensory let’s cook [name removed] they have a kitchen why not use it? Take them out onto van go to McDonald’s or a ride Treat them as People Activities is the worst except for [name removed]Train your staff more this unit has behaviors I see it these girls work hard The one thing I want to say is the Evening nurse at 3 [name removed] She is above professional she has a huge heart She loves my mom and all the residents She also leads a good team there is mutual respect and love between [name removed] and her evening staff Families adore her Now the long term Day nurse has changed over 6 mo lack of empathy lack of care it’s evident she belittles staff in front of family and staff She is a good person just needs a break The other day nurse in reflections speaks as she is uneducated calls my mom sister and to be honest scares me that she is a nurse that is [name removed] is the Best others to recognize. Not The Best Match

Sunrise of Paramus was not the best match for my Mom as she is not in true need of assistance. For those in need of a lot of one to one care , this Sunrise could be a perfect fit! However, If your loved one is an independent senior in need of privacy, a vibrant and intellectually stimulating environment, this is not the place. Most residents spend their days sleeping or waiting for the next meal. There are events and activities for residents as they are able however the community Van never left the facility once over the two and a half months my mother was there. Mealtimes were also inconsistent experiences as plates were cleared at the table!! and the staff was often tired and impatient, in a rush to move residents out of the dining area. To be fair, the staff are required to carry their duties into mealtimes. Sunrise of Paramus isn't spacious so it is a challenge logistically for most of the activities offered in the Bistro area. For those looking for a Senior Residence, be sure to try the one month rested stay before making a final decision. As I said there are some residents at Sunrise of Paramus who love their experience and wouldn't go anywhere else. There are staff members who set the bar very high in expertise and care. Just be sure your loved one is at the stage where he or she needs a lot of attention.

Manners go a long way

My mom was only there a little over a month but she loved it. She had a beautiful room and loved the aids. The food was only fair at best but she loved her room so much it made up for the food plus we brought her her favorites. I didn't like the coldness of the administrative staff after my mom died. Not even an "I'm sorry for your loss" My mom considered that her home as we did. Hope they read this and have sympathy cards mass produced. It means a lot to the families. For that reason, I would not recommend Bella Terra. My mom deserved better.

Not much for activities.

My parents were here for a while. They kept dad locked up, and there were no activities. The goal was to keep my parents together, in spite of different levels of care being needed, but this just didn't work.

This has not been a great experience.

Things have been going down hill after moving in. Sometimes I'm kind of surprised in the condition she is in when I get there where she has food smeared on her face, her hair not always washed. They do have 24 hour nursing staff. They have a memory care unit but no bars on the beds, no alarms on the beds. There are cords to be pulled but a dementia patient won't know to pull them. The head nurse tries very hard and the other nurses are good but there is not very good communication between one shift to the other. Medication was not always put in the log. Perhaps they could hire more staff. Each care manager has eight patients, that may be a bit high. I don't think they are unkind, but there is room for improvement.

Empty Promises

After our loved one was here only a short amount of time, our loved one fell and was injured. It seemed like they were not caring for our loved one. They didn't provide the services they advertised. The administrative staff promises one things but the medical staff delivers something else.

Making Sure Your Loved One Gets the Care They Deserve

Unfortunately we have mixed reviews concerning Brandywine. When we first got there, their hot water heater had problems. Almost two weeks until it was fixed which resulted in shower problems. Then she had to switch rooms due to a toilet issue. They only moved her bed, we had to move all her belongings. We chalked it up to bad timing. Her first aide didn't work out, they replaced her with another, who we were happy with. Once my sister's health started to require hospice to come in daily, things went downhill. This has been for about a month to a month and a half. We noticed that whenever the hospice aide or family was there, the Brandywine aides slacked off. They didn't show up. [name removed] has been bed bound for about a month. At least 5 times her food was left in the kitchen area, wrapped and untouched. Nobody brought it to her bedside. At least three times her laundry, which is done once a week was not collected and family members had to bring attention to it. Yes, we have brought our concerns to administration. We have also had issues with the billing department. Countless times we have appeared in person to the billing department about an issue to be addressed. The person in charge is either not around or doesn't reply to our messages. Considering my sister [name removed] found out she had terminal cancer in June and is in an active dying stage now, the family is under tremendous stress. This added stress of not knowing if she is getting the proper care when we or hospice is not around is unnecessary.

Food issues

The place is terrible the food is terrible they need more resident aides and I see the turn over is very heavy not sure why. if you ask each resident separately they would confirm these concerns it in a. Open format they would be afraid.
