Maplewood Senior Living

I searched several communities in Connecticut for my Mom including Maplewood in Newtown, Churhill and Ridgefield Crossings. We chose Maplewood in Newtown because the residents and staff we met were friendly, the turn over among staff was low, the community has been in Newtown for over ten years and the nursing team was experienced and had a LPN on site 24 hours per day. Since my Mom has been living at Maplewood, she has been eating more healthy, gaining more social interaction, intellectual stimulation and meeting new friends. Initially, my mom was not happy moving. But she is thriving and I have peace of mind that she is well cared for and living in a beautiful place where she is safe.

My Dad always told me it was his “job” to worry. As he ages, the worry has shifted. I know I am NOT alone. Dad is a retired Veteran who suffers from PTSD and depression, so it is hard for him to socialize. He was sitting too much, in pain from inactivity and was becoming forgetful. Shortly after moving to Mayflower, his color is back, he is certainly walking better with an improved posture, balance, AND his memory improved as he began moving around a socializing. His doctor even noticed! Every member of the staff knows him, knows what is going on in his life, and converses with him. He has meals with friends, and he is never alone. I work in the healthcare field and stay in hotels about 120 nights per year for business, so I admittedly have extremely high standards in terms of care, environment and meals. Maplewood at Mayflower impresses me. I sleep well at night knowing he is living in an independent, supportive and gorgeous environment, right down to the dinnerware and incredible meals prepared by a chef, (who I should probably meet and provide a thank you personally!”

I cannot say enough about Maplewood at Brewster. The staff is warm and welcoming. The food is incredible and the difference in my Dad within just a month was incredible. My Dad is a retired Veteran, who is not very talkative but sweet. Living alone was not an option for him and he had become depressed. He was sitting too much due to lack or drive for interaction and activity.... and in chronic pain due to this. With no one to talk to he became more of a recluse and at first we thought he was becoming a tiny bit forgetful (I was terrified that this may be due to onset of Alzheimers). He did not require assistance (a level of care), but if he missed a meal they would check on him. The staff helped him socialize in the beginning so my fear of him sitting alone was quelled. I sleep better at night! I love him so and no longer worry. Dad moved into Maplewood. Within a month (yes, just a month), he was less pale, having meals with friends, walking better with an improved posture AND his memory improved as he began moving around a socializing. His mind, body and spirit were being exercised ;0) I work in the healthcare field so my standards are extremely high. Maplewood does not disappoint in terms of elder activities and embodies what assisted living should be. We consider everyone at Maplewood our extended family!

This is the most ideal place for my mother. Surrounded by structure, friends, and many activities to enjoy life to her fullest. Staff is always friendly and helpful. A very clean and refreshing atmosphere. Always quaint areas to sit down at to enjoy pitchers of great water, coffee, tea, fruit, freshly baked cookies, muffins. Maplewood is something like being on a mini cruise, but with your own spacious, cheerful apartment. Anyone who has visited remarks about how great the place is. I love the courtyards where you can sit and enjoy nature. Dining room so exquisite. Who wouldn't want to live here? I had one visitor already who did not want to leave. She loved sitting in the courtyard talking to me and enjoyed looking at the birds eating from the feeder. The landscaping at Maplewood is awesome. My mother is having a great time. My mother has no complaints and is enjoying life at 99 years old. ????

The facility has a great ambiance and the front desk is always so welcoming as I come in. I come into the facility daily as a Chaplin to see my residents. Great architecture, layout and a truly talented team are just a few things that identify Maplewood. Keep up the great work and all the great things you do.

I work for an agency that provides care and service to the residents of this fine establishment. Without a doubt, one of the best assisted livings in Northen Ohio.

I recently toured Maplewood at Cuyahoga Falls. I was very impressed by the cleanliness, the friendliness of the employees and the activities for the residents. Every aspect of the building has been so well thought out. Details you just wouldn't think of, but make so much sense. I would encourage anyone looking for assisted living to look at Maplewood.

Maplewood at Chardon is a very unique assisted living facility. I love the neighborhood feel and there is an adorable front porch in front of each apartment that the residents decorate and sit out on. The staff is very friendly and many of the employees I've met have been there for a long time. There are always a lot of activities going on and I like that there are separate units so that my mom can stay if her dementia gets worse in the future. I would highly recommend Maplewood!

Such a gorgeous facility! I love that the independent suites have their own front porch and it looks like you are walking down the street. The facility always is clean, and smells wonderful.. and the staff is just as great. The residents always have a lot of activities to chose from, and they are always well kept. If anyone would ask me for a recommendation for this area, no question asked it would be Maplewood at Chardon.

I recently attended a Support Group at Maplewood and the information provided was refreshing yet helpful for me to better manage my husband at home. Its not a matter of If I have to Move my husband, its when and I am comfortable in my decision to move to Maplewood. Great place from what I have observed and witnessed.

A very clean and welcoming environment for my loved one to be at! I knew I chose the right place the minute I stepped into the building. I recommend Maplewood at Twinsburg to anybody needing an excellent place for their loved one!

My Mother has been a resident at Maplewood for 2 months now. She has dementia and her behaviors make it difficult to get her up and going in the morning and to bed at night. She was previously at another assisted living facility and as the disease progressed the staff there was unable care for her. I was forced to bring in outside help for 4 hours/day (very $$$) to get her up and going. I also received regular calls from staff, director, and Mom at all hours of the day whenever an incident occurred. Things were pretty miserable for my Mom and our family. Finally things came to a head and the facility issued a 30 relocation notice. It was the best thing that ever happened to us. I began a search for a new home and found Maplewood. Maplewood specializes in dementia care. They took an entirely different approach to caring for her and the results have been remarkable. They allow Mom to handle as much of her daily routine as her age and disease allow and step in to help as needed. The Staff is caring and skilled. The calendar is filled with carefully planned activities to meet the resident’s physical, mental, and spiritual needs. The facility and grounds beautiful and well maintained and most importantly Mom is happy again. I can’t say enough good about Maplewood!!

The Team at Maplewood Darien have been amazing since we transitioned my Mother there 3 months ago. You really get a feeling of community from the very beginning and the staff are 100% involved with my Mother's day to day routine. Everyone on staff knows my Mom and they all know me as well! [name removed] and [name removed] did an amazing job of helping us get my Mother moved and settled in quickly and they were there every day to reassure her about the move. I no longer worry about her every minute of the day as I know the staff makes sure she is getting to all of her meals and activities and not sitting alone in her apartment all day.

Maplewood at Stony Hill is a place that I never thought we would have to use for our family member but we did and I can't say enough about the caring and compassionate staff that is there. The Director of Nursing, The Assistant Director of Nursing and their activity director are amazing. Customer and consumer focused; there to help and listen. Living out of state; I rely on calls from my siblings regarding the care my mom receives. The staff has gone above and beyond reaching out to me with updates and just calling to see how I am doing. Being in health care myself; makes it even more important to have my mom in a positive environment where she can enjoy her remaining days. All the staff there are very kind and my mom enjoys talking with them. Thank you for taking care of my mom.

My mother has a been resident at Maplewood Cuyahoga Falls since March of 2016. This is just the best facility for dementia and Alzheimers patients. They have become family to me and my Mother. They are very caring about the residents. Everyone, from the staff at the front desk to the nurses aids, are very friendly, and can tell you everything that is going on with your family member. This is not just a facility. This is their home. Anything that you need addressed is immediately taken care of, no matter how minor it is. The staff is well trained in taking care of dementia patients. Maplewood also puts on educational training sessions to assist family members in understanding what your loved one is going through. I have learned a lot from these classes, and highly recommend attending. The food is wonderful and very tasty. My mom's health improved because she is getting three meals a day and exercise. They have specialists come in to evaluate your loved one, if necessary. My mom has been a fall risk, and physical therapy has helped with this. Maplewood Cuyahoga Falls is a great place for your family member to be. They will get outstanding care. I highly recommend bringing your loved one to Maplewood Cuyahoga Falls.

Thumbs up to this community for great care and support to me while my father was living there. He's recently passed away, but I want to commend the nursing staff and caregivers for making him comfortable and for keeping our family in tune to every detail. I'd not hesitate to recommend Maplewood to a family member or neighbor that needed care.

Maplewood welcomed my father into their memory care facility with professional expertise and deep compassion to make his transition as smooth as possible. The caring staff extends from the nursing and caregivers to the entire staff in the unit and in the building. With delicious food, many stimulating activities and a beautiful facility that includes indoor and outdoor spaces, my father is now living in a new home.

The facility is clean and well maintained. I recently toured for my aunt. The front desk receptionist was welcoming and made us feel at home while waiting for our tour guide. We were introduced to many of the residents and they all seemed happy and well cared for. Looking around the community was decorated nicely and staff were gracious. I'd recommend the community to others looking at senior living, its a little bit off the road and tucked back in, but worth the drive and the look.

It is a genuine pleasure to thank the staff of Maplewood for the excellent care and service I receive during my post-operative stay from hip replacement surgery in May 2019. Knowing that the medical team at Cape Cod Orthopedics prefers that patients be released to their homes following surgery, I needed to make other arrangements for my post-op care. I live alone in a lovely Condo in Orleans with two flights of stairs. Unsure of my post-op health, I wanted to be somewhere where people would be available to assist me if I needed help with daily activities. Maplewood at Brewster offered the respite care I was looking for. Not only are housekeeping, Laundry service, and meals provided but staff was available to check in on me and help where I needed it. I met with members of the staff to describe the type of services we felt would be best for me in the situation. The dining service was excellent, with well balanced, delicious meals served by efficient and cheerful wait staff. The facility offers an extensive list of activities to provide diversity of programs for physical fitness, educational programs, entertainment and other programs that appeal to a variety of interests for the residents. Each and every team member quickly learned the names of their residents and greeted everyone by first names on a daily basis. The teams focus on the residents’ comfort was evident with the overwhelming satisfaction of everyone I met over the course of my stay. It was truly sad to leave all my new friends when it came to an end. I highly recommend the facility for anyone faced with a situation where respite care will enhance their lives.
