Very satisfied

So far our experience with Heritage at Clara Barton has been a good one! The staff here is friendly and professional, and the facility itself is clean and well kept. They take very good care of the people who live here, and they've done a great job keeping us in the loop regarding our loved one's status. I feel they could make the billing process a little clearer, we had a few points of confusion in the beginning, but other than that we have been completely satisfied.

well priced but needs work

wonderful staff, but spread a bit thin. food is very institutionl, almost no fresh fruits or vegetables, hot dogs are on the menu a bit too often, wraps and sandwiches are usually available but not promoted, much of the food very salty. older heating system in somevof the apts, hard to manage for an elderly person. regular thermostats would be better. I don't see many takers for archery or ping pong, most of the residents use walkers. live entertainment (which was weekly at brighton) is infrequent and there are very few activites on the weekend, there should be more board and card Games with lessons, maybe, dominoes, mexican train, uno..,, a new resident should get more help acclimating, I think the activities director gets one star from me. facility is very clean and friendly, staff always caring and competent

In the rehab, I didn't think they had enough staff. I would ring my nurse CALL sometimes it would be an hour before anybody came. That was the main problem I had with them. The staff in independent living is very pleasant and helpful and the apartment is nice. They help with package delivery. Before I fell and broke my Fibula I enjoyed it there.

My Experience so far

I am currently a resident at The Heritage of Clara Barton. Most of the staff are friendly, one staff member was rude to me one time. The housekeeping is good. Overall, if I knew what I know now before I moved here, I would have tried very hard to find somewhere else to live. Also, the cable service could be better. It is not 100% reliable.

Staff could be more proactive...

The facility is fine, but we have run into some issues over the course of my loved one's stay here. When we arrived here, there was a very big lack of welcoming for my loved ones, which was very disappointing. There have also been many promises that were not kept by the facility, such as the promise of therapy services. Overall, I found that there was a significant lack in communication, and the staff are not very proactive in making sure that my loved ones were taken care of.

Sorry I moved here

When I first moved in I didn't know that me being an independent tenant I was not allowed to enter some parts of the building & when I didn't a staff member very rudely told me that I was not allowed. I my refrigerator was extremely loud & I had to beg to get a replacement. If I knew what I know now before I moved here I would have never moved here. It's a depressing place. The fire alarm goes off & I don't know if I should stay in my apartment or leave. They do nothing for the independent people at thanksgiving or Christmas, but they do things for the people that need assistance.

Covid 19

Sadly I’ve grown very disappointed in Clara Barton Heritage Home. I realize Covid 19 has changed a lot of the policies and procedures but the management has done nothing to ease family fears and anxieties of when our loved ones will be able to leave the building without having to self quarantine on their return. I know for a fact that staff members take residents to doctor appointments in their personal cars when the facility bus is not available. If that can happen then why can’t a family member take their loved one to the doctors? Also, some residents can take their pets out for walks and other residents go to stores on Amboy Ave. without quarantining on their return. The facade of preventing residence from leaving and having to quarantine for 14 days upon their return has to end. Mentally this is doing way more damage then is necessary to the elderly residents.

Care giver experience

The 1st day I moved them there not even 24 hours I knew I made a huge mistake putting them there. Most of the staff there just didn't want to do their jobs. There were 3 people that actually did there job. I got them out as fast as I could.

Review for Harbour View Senior Living

I would say that it started out like a dream and turned into a nightmare. We were lied to continually, kept in the dark, and charged for unknown fees with no contract. The floor my mother was put on had only 2 tenants, herself and another guest, and dementia patients would regularly show up at her door in the middle of the night banging on her door. There was no heat or hot water FREQUENTLY, and no one to contact to fix it. The people we signed up with all quit during and before my mother moved in, and the Harbor View changed ownership as she was moving in, so ALL of her paperwork, medical, contracts, etc., were lost. Added to that, all of her mail went missing. The new owners jacked up the rent, eliminated many programs and cut staff. We got my Mother out as quickly as possible. Also, our cars were vandalized while moving her in. A very scary place! Do not trust your loved ones to this insane asylum.

The Absolute WORST PLACE To Put Your Loved!!

This facility was taken over by an outfit based in New Jersey in early 2024 and they have absolutely NO CLUE how to manage a senior living community. From totally incompetent and ignorant ownership and leadership (including interim directors coming and going) to low morale among workers, being understaffed (including workers leaving in mass and with a very low retention rate), no team work, unkept promises to family members to mice and ants seen regularly, to facility bills not being paid, to dirty common areas to dead fish due to aquariums being neglected and the list goes on...this place is AWFUL!!! Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere!!!!!!

Harbour View Review

Please don't send ANYONE there! What a nightmare. I promise you, I am easy going, and not picky at all. But they are in the middle of a transition, and are completely disorganized and understaffed. They also charged my Mother for things that were never discussed without any receipt or paperwork. The hot water was often non functional, as well as many electrical outlets. Twice, I found Alzheimer's patients knocking on my Mother's door repeatedly, and it turned out they had been missing for hours. I could go on and on. We started out at a 5 with the interview, etc. But, all of the people we initially met quit before she moved in, and they STILL owe her money, and her mail is missing.

No longer on our list. Their buy-in fee is rediculous ($100K+) and when we noted that the buy in fee, the monthly payments, and additional costs were our of our range, the phone call was cut short to basically "well we can't help you, good bye".
