My 90 yo mother was a resident in memory care for the last 22 months of her life. The facility is bright and clean with lots of windows and a bird display in every area. (It is not one of many grim, gray facilies). The outstanding feature is the staff. Care assistants conduct bible study, do hair care, clean and assist residents, often going above and beyond. Nursing staff is attentive and understanding (thanks, [name removed]!) and communicates to the unit staff. The front desk staff is warm and welcoming. Families should be proactive about visiting and keeping in touch. The administrative staff is motivated to keep beds full, but also listens to the needs of families. They make an effort to understand the life stories of residents before they became needy, disabled or infirm. I heard a manger remind staff of how important one resident was in the community before they had dementia. Preserving dignity is a priority.

I had a wonderful experience with The Residence at Presque Isle Bay in Erie, PA. I recently did work in the building and was genuinely impressed by the atmosphere and the community. The residents all appeared happy, engaged, and truly enjoying their time there. This, in my opinion, speaks volumes about the care they receive. The meals looked fantastic and honestly, food I would be excited to eat myself. The staff and overall environment felt warm, welcoming, and well cared for. I wanted to jump right in when they were playing what looked to be Volleyball with a balloon. Based on what I observed, this is absolutely a place I would feel comfortable and confident placing my own mom when the day comes. I would highly recommend The Residence at Presque Isle Bay to anyone looking for a personal care home that truly feels like a community.

It's a great place, staffed by great people. I would absolutely recommend them to others who are searching for a place for their loved one.

Newhaven Court at Lindwood is a very clean environment, friendly and helpful staff, friendly residents. Feels like a home style upclass country environment. Meals are very good as well as the portions.

My husband was a resident for 4 months in Memory care. He passed away there at age 92. The place was amazing and made his last months happy with new friendships and fun activities. The staff treated him and our entire family with compassion and overwhelming kindness. We can’t say enough good things about the wonderful staff. Thank you Candlelight Cove!

I live in Florida, so I have been unable to be there in person. I hope to be in Pa soon. Mom has told me that everyone is very nice and helpful. She has been playing bingo. She was not eating very well on her own but is eating better now.

I would rate all 1-8 a 5. [name removed] was reluctant at first and now really appreciates all they have to offer. Highly recommend.

Both my mom and my stepdad joined Colonial Courtyard in Bedford, Pennsylvania in [date removed] , it has been a great experience, but with a few transitional bumps. Making the change to assisted living came with some challenges, after a lifetime of independence, admitting that additional, full time help was now required took some humility, and being willing to cooperate, being humans, we all struggle with loss of our autonomy, now both parents are adjusted and happy with the much needed support. They have independence, but the support for medicine, meal times and emergencies is there with grace and care. I’m very happy with the wonderful atmosphere, happy caregivers and staff. If you are in the Bedford county Pennsylvania area, and have this need, please consider this site.

I stopped to visit my Aunt [name removed] and was amazed at how well she has adapted to senior living. She is younger and has been living at home after having a stroke. We were concerned about the age difference between her and some of the other residents, but she is thriving. I ate lunch with her, and a lady at her table is over 100+ years old, and she and [name removed] have the funniest conversations. It makes my heart happy to see my aunt interact with everyone who works there. If my mom were still living, this is where I would want her to be. I know my aunt is safe and she is thriving.

I recently toured Colonial Courtyard at Bedford and was surprisingly impressed with the atmosphere. It was warm, welcoming, and everyone was very happy. I had toured several other places, and they were great but there is something different about the Courtyard. It seemed like family as soon as I walked in. I hope that my cousins choose this for my aunt. It will be a great fit for her.

The experience we had in the eight months my sister was a resident was top notch, from the administrator to the "blue angels" as my sister called her caregivers, to [name removed] the building maintenance coordinator, [name removed] the front desk receptionist. I have several other friends who have had experience with the Pines. All of us agree that our loved ones were not just cared for in a manner we would hope, but went over and above. We weren't with my sister when she passed, but her caregiver that day stayed beyond her shift and was with her when she took her last breath. She also attended the memorial service for my sister, and we made sure everyone got to meet this sweet woman. And one other thing, one of their selling points is that all of the staff know the names of all of their residents.....and I saw that first hand.

The entire staff is wonderful - friendly helpful and kind. They assist my dad and make his day easier along with keeping him safe. The genuine good feelings that you get in this facility make all the difference in helping my family feel better about where dad is.

Chestnut Ridge has been a godsend for my mother who has dementia. Everyone on the staff goes above and beyond to make sure all the residents are healthy, fed and happy 24/7. The staff is constantly on the floors and instantly available.

New, modern facility with a proactive staff that is consistently trying to meet the resident’s needs. Convenient location for independent living residents. Staff is concerned for the safety of residents.

I am so glad we discovered Fitz Farm. My mother settled in very quickly due to the extremely friendly staff. She has everything she needs to enjoy her new home, including a salon and weekly house keeping. She has met so many lovely people which has made for a smooth transition.

My family moved my aunt to Candle Light Cove and it has been so beneficial for her. She is no longer at home, alone and unsafe. She is surrounded by wonderful residents and staff. She attends various activities and has a much better quality of life. The staff are all dedicated to the residents and go above and beyond to make her comfortable and happy.

The facility is beautiful. Everyone has their own room and bathroom. The staff is wonderful. What I find different from Residence at Fitz Farm is people are so helpful and really enjoy working there. They offer a lot of activities and you can choose or not to participate. Very clean on every floor. We are very pleased we moved our mom there.
