DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONE HERE

Unprofessional and non compassionate I DECIDED TO PUT A DEPOSIT DOWN AFTER TOURING THIS FACILITY FOR MY MOM. WAS TOLD BY SALES PERSON MORE LIKE A CAR SALESMAN THAT A NURSE WOULD ASSESS ON SPECIFIC DATE. NURSE NEVER SHOWED. CAR SALESMAN TYPE PERSON NAMED [name removed] IGNORED MY CALLS AND EVENTUALLY SAID HIS NURSE WAS IN ORIENTATION. SHE WOULD DO A FACETIME AT A TIME SCHEDULED. SHE NEVER DID. WE CALLED AGAIN AND HE SAID NURSE WOULD COME OUT NEXT DAY. NURSE ASSESSED AND SAID MOM WASNT SUITABLE FOR MEMORY CARE WHICH WE KNEW THIS AND RESERVED A ROOM FOR ASSISTED LIVING. THEY RAN MY CREDIT CARD AFTER THE FACT AND NOW BLOCKED ME. THEY ARE LOOKING TO FILL MEMORY CARE BEDS BECAUSE MORE MONEY. PERIOD. I AM A PMHNP-BC DNP [removed] I HAVE BEEN IN THIS FIELD A LONG TIME. THE RESULT OF WHAT THEY HAVE DONE IS TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL AND NON COMPASSIONATE. I WOULD ADVISE EXTREME CAUTION IN PLACING YOUR LOVED ONE HERE.

Memory care nightmare!!!

After 2 months at the facility office staff called and wanted my dad immediately removed after a disagreement with another gentleman in memory care. We had no where safe within my home to house him from wandering off which is why we waited 5 months on the waiting list to get him in. We thought this would be the home for his remaining time with alzheimers and 3 kinds of terminal cancer and a place for hospice to make him comfortable. Nursing staff was kind as was front receptionist. Office staff absolutely horrible!! They kept our $[removed] deposit, demanded we remove him immediately (which police explained to them it couldnt be safely done) and wanted us to pay an additional $[removed] a month to administer meds he doesnt need so he would be a sleeping zombie. The entire point of a memory care is to keep people from wandering off, not to take money and then leave families high and dry for end of life care. I have never heard of a facility so [profanity removed] that they kick out a dying man.

Beware

I never thought I’d be celebrating hospice services until today. Mom was moved to a hospice respite. This after three weeks of ER visits, calls to say she (89 years old with Alzheimer’s) is a “danger to self and others”calls to tell me she was not taking her meds, combative, not eating or drinking. Is memory care not trained to deal with these behaviors since they are most common with Alzheimer’s?? Do not believe that the have special memory care staff training.. LW’s response is to send the elderly to a geriatric psychological ward. I know this, not because anyone ever met with me in a care planning meeting or answered my multiple emails or gave me anything in writing to assist me with these difficult decisions as mom’s POA, but because today- at hospice, mom was happy. Mom took her meds, ate everything she was offered, was pleasant and content. Mom was treated with respect and dignity. Ask about visitation. Please ask questions and get policies in writing prior to admission.

Memory care sadness

This is not a "place for Mom". Very often her items are stolen and she's left in dirty diapers not in her own clothes?? She's often not showered and anything I try to bring to make her "area" nicer for her turns up gone. The other residents living in memory care including men are allowed to go in and out of her room and other people's rooms. She's not happy here and we are looking for much better memory care for her. The staff say that all memorycare places are like this but have found this not true. I have not been able to just go visit Mom so far without having to shower her or change her sheets or look for her own clothes !

Would NOT recommend

Our experience with Greenfield of Williamsburg was a very bad one, and I would not recommend them to anyone. The staff here is very friendly, but unfortunately they just do not have the training they need to do the job. When we moved her in initially a mix-up with the paperwork meant not only did I have to give her her medications for the first few days, I also had to double check everything they were giving her to make sure the medications were correct (which they were not a great deal of the time!) At one point I typed out a detailed set of daily care instructions to help the aides out, but I had one come up to me and tell me she didn't read English well enough to understand them and asked if I could repeat them to her out loud. I moved my loved one out after a week, I honestly did not feel that she would have been safe here for much longer than that.

I would not send my loved one here. They told me it was going to be a certain price, but then after all was said and done the price was WAY higher than what they had told me initially. It is not all inclusive pay, so there are a bunch of add on fees.

Extremely Poor - Would Not Recommend

Don't go here. My loved one has been on his own, taking care of his own medication, showering, etc. All they do now is laundry. For months now they have said they would move him to the lowest level of care. They haven't done so and are still charging for the higher level of care that he does not need and is not receiving. The care and the staff are very poor here. They are way understaffed, and the staff are rude. The food started out okay but has really gone downhill. You used to be able to choose off a menu, and now you just get what you get, whether you like it or not. It's just a bad situation all around, and not acceptable.

Wouldn't place my worst enemy here!

Do NOT put your beloved family member here. This is a "you get what you pay for" facility! Though it may appear from the outside to be OK, once you enter it has a awful odor resembling urine/dirty diaper stinch that sticks to your clothing for hours after leaving. This facility is supposed to be secure and safe for residents with memory loss issues. Well the slide locks they use at the top of doors (other than the front door) will certainly do the trick huh!!? The Fire Marshall had to be informed of their "security" standards, which he remedied immediately by removing the slide locks! The staff, if you are so lucky to find one on a Sunday, is very dismissive, rude and unhelpful overall. Susie(?) a nurse assistant or whatever her "title/credentials" supposedly are, is the worst of them all. She has a "not to be bothered" attitude anytime we've needed assistance. I asked for help getting Dad a cup of coffee to enjoy his home baked cookies we brought for him and she blatantly ignored, was very rude and stalled in her actions to the point I had to ask the young man in the kitchen myself to get it! He was one of the two ONLY kind staff there,[removed]. [removed]. In our opinion, he is not treated with dignity, respect or concern for his care. Which brings me to the point of "The Rights and Responsibilities of Residents" that, by law is to be posted conspicuously. If you are lucky enough to locate where it's posted,(I had to ask a staff member to show me where it is), bring a flashlight and some glasses because it's in a dimly lit hallway typed in small font on old, dingy, papyrus looking paper!! Our intention is to get Dad out of there ASAP but unfortunately, we have to battle with the opinion of other relatives in order to do so. He has been there 2 (two) months now and has lost a lot of weight and appears to look a decade older than he actually is since residing at Reflections of Strasburg. When asked how is the food? He describes it as "typical institution" type fare, not a lot of variety and a common, daily staple is cottage cheese! Do yourself and your beloved relative a favor and scratch this place off your list to check out. Their Administrative staffs behavior is abhorrent, egregious, [removed] and intolerable in our opinion and experience thus far.

Don't leave your loved ones here.

They are very friendly & helpful when they are selling their services. Unfortunately it is all talk. They say they can take your loved one to & from Dr. appts. Tues. & Thurs. however, the driver is only there until 1pm & they are too full & can't get you in. I gave them my loved ones medication & they did not give it to them & no one called me to let me know this. Medication has been incorrect for 2 wks now. The food is very bland & they wake my loved one up at 5am, yet breakfast is not until 8am. We asked for an emergency pendant & was not given one until 2wks in. Cost is over $4600/mo what does that pay for? Bland food, wake at 5am, incorrect medication, no transportation to Dr. appts. My recommendation......find a different place for your loved ones.

Rude head nurse

The nurse I talked to was very rude and was yelling orders to the workers showing very little respect. The building was nice and clean but the nasty attitude of the nurse was very off putting. I can only imagine how residents are treated if that's how you speak to your workers. My mother will not be going to this facility.

Was a great place back in 2011 when they were "The Mews" but since it was taken over by new owners and changed to "Oxton Village", things changed for the worse. My mother was there for 3 years, first no complaints, after they changed owners, the care was not as good, she fell numerous times, hitting her head and sent to ER. Every time I complained to owners, nothing was done to improve the situation. After I complained for a third time about her care, they told me I had to find her a different place to go to, and after that would close door when they saw me coming to office, leaving me to talk to receptionist instead. Not enough good help for the number of people they have and violations that should be reported.

Not A Place For Mom

My mom was only at Northglenn for a month before she died. Her health also declined very quickly during that time. There were a few vey caring caretakers, however, her final week, days and death were horrible. The lack of communication between Northglenn and St. Anthony Hospice was almost non existent. I often found my mom lying in her own pee during those final weeks. I asked for soft food trays the final week, and even the day she died, I found a solid food tray in her room. I was told she would receive her liquid morphine and lorazepam the last night of her life, or I would be called if it did not arrive, and neither happened. On the last day of her life, communication was so bad, two aides went in to her room with a wheel chair and wanted my brother to take her outside. Other ignorant things happened that are inexcusable. When I asked for the caregiver notes for the last four days of her life, I was ignored. My mom experienced a terrifying death, partly due to Northglenn's incapabilities.
