Heritage Waterside

There is no comparison to Heritage Waterside anywhere in this area. The employees are so nice and caring. You can really see the love they have for all of the residents. I love the place and all they offer for everyone. Fishing on the dock and the sports bar and the movie theater to visiting the beach across the street. It really is a paradise and affordable.

Heritage was fantastic at the beginning, but started to go downhill. The company had opened up a 2nd place near Sanford and were siphoning off a lot of the good staff to work over there. When mom went into hospice, we were planning to move her home, she passed before we could move her. Families should also be aware that in the event of a hurricane that causes the bridges to the beachside to close, their loved ones will need to be evacuated. Mom slept on a cot for 5 days because I couldn't get there from out of state.

The staff is very friendly. They care about the residents. The facility is managed well. But they have a few quirks to work out- minor things.

The facility is very new and conveniently located. It's clean and nicely decorated with a coastal vibe in the common area. The finishes for the individual bathroom room and kitchenette are coastal modern with quartz countertops and white shaker cabinets. I pop in now and then. It always seems clean and well maintained. There is always staff around. They seem nice and attentive. My grandmother seems very well entertained and is definitely well fed. It definitely gives cruise vibes with all the activities available. She tells all our friends and family that she loves it! The move-in paperwork was a little disorganized on move-in day. I would recommend doing that ahead of time instead. I would also recommend confirming the doctors are in network if you want to use the ones that come to the community. They were not in network for my grandmother. However, they assisted her in getting one locally that was. They also helped her transfer prescriptions and with the transportation scheduling provided by her insurance. I was able to reach out to my A Place for Mom consultant with questions and concerns. She really helped me with the whole process and made everything manageable.
