Helpful things to know

As you know you get what you pay for. On the whole it has been a positive experience for my brother. Going from total independence to assisted living has required a 3 to 4 week adjustment period. Relationships are a two way street. Once my brother and staff got to know each other, both developed a mutual sense of expectation and cooperation. Staff shortages are evident but administration seems to be trying hard to maintain appropriate levels of service. Tha facility is always very clean. Food variety and quality is an ongoing concern. Most of the food is brought in from the outside and warmed (not cooked in the facility kitchen).

Good and ok

Clifton court is assistant living. My mother in law was assessed as a level 4. The rooms are nice. Some have a sink and refrigerator and others do not. Size also varies. Rooms are clean. Food for most part is good. There are days when take out would be better. Staff on 2nd and 3rd is a mixed bag. Sometimes meds are delivered and sometimes not. My mother in law gets eye drops and we decided the facility should do all meds. Application is over done and she runs out. There are a few who don’t want to be bothered. That is the exception. We go every night and check on her. I wish we could have sat down with the outside service providers to understand what they offer like podiatrist and doctor. I also noticed the improvement in my mother in law and had to ask for a reevaluation to decrease the care cost. They did do it. With everything this a two way street. My mother in law can be stubborn and that adds to the mix. Overall we like the facilities.

Riverwood Senior Living

The regular staff has been really awesome except the RN who didn't seem to care at all. I've heard in last 2 weeks there is someone new but I haven't gotten to know her. Facility is very beautiful. Excellent location. I would still recommend them but they are very pricey. Knowing the final price amount before moving parents down would have been helpful. They assessed parents level of need after they moved in because they came from so far. It was a major sticker shock from the estimate. The in house doctor is only available one time a month. If anything comes up between they are sent to ER. This service has done us no good at all. Price is rated on their need of care. Parents are rated needing help with things they really don't need help with. Other areas are halfway paid attention to because they aren't individualized.

Met our expectations as far as the care we expect for our loved one.

It seems like our loved one is getting adequate care. Before, I was worried about her taking her medications and things like that. Here, they administer her medications to her in a timely manner, and she gets three meals a day. It seems like it's everything that she needs for daily living. The staff are all very friendly. Some of the staff you recognize, but there is some staff turnover, like all places right now. In order to get in, there's a secure keypad where they have to let you in out. They're always very friendly when they greet you. They have a lot of activities there as well. There's something going on every day - mornings and afternoons - crafts, bingo, different things to keep her busy.

SOME GOOD AND SOME NOT SO GOOD.

When first admitted Resident did not get all the medicines she was to be getting because the pharmacy did not have them. I should have been told this so I could have gotten the appropriate medicine. I also did bring a bottle of Melatonin in for Resident and I think she is getting that at this time. I was also disappointed to see that activities were not provided on a daily basis. You showed movies for a couple of days in a row. Popcorn would be nice. I know you are short of help. You just admitted another person very aggressive and that scared a lot of residents. When something like this happens gather those residents and explain to them what is happening and what you are going to do to fix the problem? Most of your staff are very good with reacting with your residences. You do serve good food. Why would you run out of milk? I brought a half gallon of milk for my resident because of this. Do you have a problem making and offering coffee to the residents?

My review of Clifden Court Senior Living

Our family was able to have an in person tour and the experience was good, we got a good look at everything inside. The community seemed very clean, well kept and organized. Only reason we did not choose Clifden Court was the value, it was pretty significant.

Our experience with Tender Reflections

We chose Tender Reflections of Elkhorn because we needed something close to where I lived, a friend of mine had her father here and she had good things to say, and they had availability at the time. Her room size here is adequate for her needs. They do also have different room sizes you are able to choose from. I have eaten here and I thought the food was good, she also has not had any complaints. The best part about the community so far has been the peace of mind of knowing she is safe and taken care of. Overall, I would recommend this community to others.

Caring people

I live in a different state, Ohio. I went to visit a couple weeks ago. what a beautiful place and my mom is thriving there. She needs people around her. The staff is very kind and loving. You can tell they care. I am an activity director in a skilled and assisted living facility. I would love to have the space they have to my activities. While I was there was not much going on. It just seems for a memory care there should be more. I was there when bingo was being played and it was odd that they didn't get prizes for bingo but they all seemed happy with it. My mom loves it but of course wants her cat and go somewhere where she can have it but I also know she will eventually be okay with that. I'm so glad to have found this place through A Place for Mom.

It’s good

I just moved my family member in this month. Beautiful facility. Staff are nice and management helped me with all my questions and worries. Younger staff that like there phones but overall a great experience. I was there yesterday and management and staff were doing activities. Just don’t feel staff should have there phones on them during lunch while feeding residents. That’s disappointing.

My mom has been there for 6 weeks. Everyone we have dealt with is caring and quick to answer any concerns. It took a little bit for her to adjust but is doing great thanks to the patience and care of the people who work there. you can tell they genuinely care about her and enjoy her.
