Distinctive Living

I have been searching for the best care for my father who sadly has suffered with Alzheimer's Disease. I have toured every possible Assisted Living and Memory Care Facility in South West FL. I found Autumn Leaves in Venice to be the absolute best residence and the only one I would consider moving my father to. The physical environment was beautiful and dignified. The staff that we met were compassionate, knowledgeable and supportive towards my father and my family. The activities, living environment, privacy and actual treatment was so impressive. We left our tour feeling for the first time with a sense of relief that we now have an option for quality and respectful care for our father.

My mother has recently made the move into this community and we could not be more pleased with how things are going for her. The overall staff have been so amazing and are always available to answer any questions we may have for them. The thing I am most impressed with would have to be the meals. They are always beyond amazing and my mother has actually gained healthy weight from eating so well. I like to see that she is getting out and starting to participate in some of the activities they have going on for the residents. Overall we are very happy and would recommend it to anyone.

They have a lot of activities at The Chelsea. My wife enjoys going to the auditorium and watching movies. She seems to like the food and the staff seem to be on the ball. This is a beautiful community and I would recommend it. She has made lots of friends and seems to like it there.

The staff has been extremely supportive and caring. My mom came in with dementia, but was still walking on her own and could care for herself mostly. As her needs changed, and she needed help with showering, dressing, and using a walker, the staff alerted me and we made accommodations. The only change my mom would have liked is more native English speaking helpers who dressed her - my mom sometimes had difficulty understanding them with their accents/limited vocabulary. But other than that, she's loved all the staff.

It has been 1 month so far since my Mom entered The Chelsea. She sounds like she has adjusted to the environment very well and she is eating all her meals. Plus getting physical therapy.

They are doing a pretty good job so far. When we first got mom in there, they had a new director, but things have run pretty smoothly. I did have an issue with the level of care at first. She seems to be happy and seems to have made an adjustment. Anytime something has come up it has been handled very well. It's clean, the people are extremely friendly, and not fake or phony.

This facility is Beautiful! The staff is so sweet and kind,they do everything to make our family member,and our family feel at home.The staff pays attention to every detail,no matter how small.We really feel like they are a part of our family. We know our loved one is happy and healthy there.We would highly recommend The Chelsea at Brick.We looked at other places,but we knew when we took a tour of The Chelsea,this was the place.All of the residence were so happy to be there! Kelly and Bennett were so helpful and sweet to us and our loved one,we knew this was the place for us.

My dad is 91 and pretty self sufficient. My mom is 86 and a diabetic who had to go from oral meds to three shot of insulin a day. She was unable to administer these shots herself. They live five minutes away from me , so I would go there three times a day to do this and help with breakfast and lunch and bring dinner to make sure they were eating correctly. I am their daughter and love them ,but it just got to be exhausting. I am recovering from cancer and will hopefully be able to go back to work soon. I had to figure out a better way for all of us.i went on line and a place for mom came up. I put in my information and 5 minutes later I received a phone call that gave me peace of mind. I was not the only one in this situation. I was given a list of wonderful facilities to check out in my area. When I walked into the Chelsea ,I knew it would be perfect for them. The people were very kind and accommodating. Their little apartment was just perfect for them. It is clean , pretty and a happy place. Everyone greets you with a smile and a hello. My parents are making new friends and adjusting. They are slowly getting involved in some of the activities and I am happy for them. It is much better than sitting and watching TV all day! We went to the Mother's Day tea they had and it was very nice. I am so happy that they are in a great place and being taken care of. I truly have peace of mind and we are all able to have a better quality of life. I hope this little story helps someone realize that sometimes you just can't do it all and it's OK.

We're very happy with this community! It is a nice looking, clean place, and all the residents and staff have been very friendly! Everyone has really made her feel at home, and she is loving it here. She was recently nominated as the Valentine's Queen For The Day, which really tickled her. We toured quite a few places when we were looking into options, and this place was just a great combination of room type, amenities, and location for the price! I'd definitely recommend taking a look at it if you are searching.

I liked it a lot! It was a little out of the way for me. I liked the staff. I liked it a lot, and the director was wonderful. It had a very rural setting.

Mom hasn't been here long, but so far she is really enjoying it. Something we noticed right as we walked in for our tour is that there seemed to be a lot of people out socializing, and an active community was something Mom was really wanting. It's a great looking place, and the staff are very friendly. We did Thanksgiving dinner with Mom, and the food was excellent. The chef came out after the meal to chat with everyone, which I thought was a nice touch.

Very nice facility. It was my first choice except they were so expensive. The place is gorgeous, but I saw people bored there too. I didn't like that it cost an extra $250 a day for high level of care, which I knew that my mother would need. The place we ended up choosing has an all inclusive care package.

Overall, my experience was average. The rent increase was much higher than expected, and I wasn't aware that annual rent increases were part of the policy, so that came as an unpleasant surprise. The food was another disappointment. There wasn't much variety or nutritional value, and many meals seemed heavily processed or fried. Fresh ingredients didn't appear to be a priority, and the quality could definitely be improved.

Was very happy with the information and the tour. Hopefully all works out for my mom. I was impressed with all the renovations that were being done to make the environment more up to date.

When I got there they said they were not notified that i was coming for a tour, I got one anyway. The person who gave us the tour was very friendly and accommodating. The facility was very clean and up to date. I didn't eat a meal there, but may come back to taste a meal. I question if I want to live in a community that is only seniors, I enjoy a multi-generational environment. I really like the West Milford area, I love a more natural setting rather then the urban landscape.

We didn't look at others. There were men and women, which were as a positive for my dad. They had activities (but not enough- supposedly that's at all these places). People seemed happy there. The place isn't perfect, could use more activities, but it was clean and people were in the common areas, dressed and clean - so that's something

The facility was very clean and neat. Most of the staff was very caring. I felt that the management and communication was a little unorganized.

You must ask questions. They will not come to you. The price was right. The rooms are ok in size, nice bathrooms. Activities are good. Choices for food.

I found this facility to be inviting when entering, the residents seem to be happy and comfortable. The tour was very informative and seeing what MiraVie has to offer was very educational to me being that it was my first tour of an assisted living , memory care facility.I was impressed to see it was clean and nicely appointed. As with many facilities in New Jersey the only draw back for me is the cost especially with the different levels in the memory care area, so for me it would be a financial reason not to choose Mira Vie other than that it would be a major contender!!

Staff was wonderful. Food was fairly simple and bland (mom's opinion). Care and ability to socialize was very good. Sometimes locking of the doors after it was hard for visitors. Maybe could be a better system for after our visitors.
