Last year it became evident that both of my parents (now in their early 90’s) were not able to continue doing many of the chores and other activities they were accustomed to over the past 25 years of my father’s retirement. Yet they still desired a level of independent living, but with some of the activities planned for them and some of their daily chores managed by someone else. After visiting all of the adult independent living facilities in our area we chose Heritage Commons. Besides offering meals, housekeeping services, in-house activities, as well as transportation services for medical, shopping, banks, etc., they also had three other important qualities we were seeking: central location, everything under one roof, and at a price that was both reasonable and did not include any buy-in fees or long-term leases. Both of my parents are very happy in their new living arrangements and enjoy their regular walks in the well-lighted and pleasant hallways, particularly on cold or rainy days, when going outside is not an option. We’ve found the staff to be attentive, friendly, and also very accommodating.

Friendly, informative staff.

Seemed homey and the people were friendly. The marketing person knew the residents and seemed to really care about them. Facilities looked clean and well kept.

I liked that facility a lot, I liked that the people seemed well cared for, it was clean, the staff seemed very active with the patients there. The rooms were clean and I liked the all inclusive thing instead of nickling and diming you for every little thing. It was all included in one price, I did like them.

I really liked the apartment here, but it concerns me about all of the possible additional charges. I did see several ladies that seemed sociable, happy, and enjoying themselves.

So far things are going very well. The staff is way up there, the friendliness is a 5+. The care is coming around, I would think they would have picked up on a few things, things they could have suggested or I would have suggested but I can't really say anything negative about it because my father is a special case. My father's blind, he was on the first floor but we moved him to the dementia unit so he could get more attention and care. The problem is my dad's not one to participate a whole lot at all and because he's blind there's not a lot he can do; so he's been severely depressed but the medication's starting to work. He's coming out a lot more and making some friends. In fact, I referred another resident who was over at Atria to King's Grant and I think they moved in the other weekend. I'm very comforted to know that this is where he will be until the end.

Meets all my mother-in- laws needs

The best part of Farnham Manor are the staff. It is obvious to even the casual observer that all of the direct care staff and others care about the residents. There is a level of staff maturity that gives me confidence that good care is the norm. I have heard only good things about the food and planned activities.

The location of The Southerlands was very convenient for our family. They had an available 2 bedroom apartment which had 1 bathroom, a small kitchenette and a living room. The level of care they provide here is extraordinary and the staff is just superb. We would highly recommend this community to anyone.

My parents came from a facility where all they did all day was have their chin resting on their chests, sleeping. When entering Whispering Woods for the very first time, my parents were met by a bubbly staff person and immediately engaged in a snack, word game, and singing. They stayed for the entire time. They are in Building #8 and can't believe the amount of space they can freely roam. They were used to being in a small space, locked setting. While this may still be a locked setting, they are not feeling being locked up. The Montessori Program here is just what my parents needed.

My sister and I like what the Gloucester house has to offer. There is plenty of activities to keep the residents occupied. The staff is friendly and it is clean.

I like the private rooms and the cost seemed quite good for all the included services! Dad chose this one! So we put down the deposit!

My mother spent a couple of weeks in Commonwealth for re-hab after a surgery, and loved it. This is what caused us to consider assisted living for her.

This was our first choice.

These people were extremely nice. I think my mother would do very well here if it was just her. The lunch was very good.

I have toured Glouster House and placed a deposit with them to hold a room.

Beautiful place. Loved the atmosphere. Loved the outdoor space and I liked all the activities they had in place. I think this is my first choice. All the clients were out on the day I visited but it was still nice.
