Brookside Cartersville was was okay. It just didn’t feel right. The residents were sitting around and not as active as we were looking for.

We chose Brookside Commerce because of the location, it was closer for us to see him. We ended up pulling him out of here because he kept getting out of memory care because their doors were not secure. The room sizes were nice, but they do not close the doors to other patients so things would get taken from rooms. People would also go into his bathroom and pee would be all over the bathroom floors and his bedroom floor since they did not shut them. They were very friendly staff members. I would recommend for assisted living, but not memory care.

Scheduled person was not in. A request for documentation was brushed off.

My mother loves this community, and we are pleased with all they have done for us. It is a really nice facility, but we do have some concerns. At the moment they are under staffed, but the staff they do have is great. Also the meal program needs improvement. Other than those issues the experience as gone well so far. She is enjoying the social interaction, and we know she is in good hands. We are pleased with this community, there are a few improvements they need to make, but I would recommend it.

I liked the care that my mom received here. The community is clean and taken care of. The staff was very nice and patient with the care that my mom received. Mom was happy with the meals and the dining area. I would recommend this community for loving care.

What they could improve on would be - Quality of care / staff. The food, they need to track who has gotten meals and who hasn't. Residents have a right to choose to eat in their room and not in the dining room. Coffee should be a basic not a luxury. Changes to admin staff and increasing prices without better quality of facilities or staff. No activities. Not enough engagement.

I don't think that there are sufficient protocols or procedures in place to operate the facility efficiently and affectively. There appears to be sufficient staffing, but accountability seems to be lacking. To me it was totally disorganized and some of that was the result of pipes bursting, but I felt it was just sloppy management.

Too far from family who would be visiting

I absolutely loved he director, Rose. I felt that this place , with her leadership an vision , embodies everything I would want for my dad in a personal care/assisted livig situation . And the price is great , with no added or hidden fees.

My mom was here for 9-10 months. During this time she had unexplained bruising on the side of her head and hand, episodes of rage (has not had since leaving months ago), she was not given her medications as prescribed and she was "sent out" to the hospital to be "observed" more times than I could count. She was left without her meds for several days, meds you are supposed to gradually wean off of. On one occasion she was sent out and another lady wasn't, even though this lady was hitting my mom repeatedly. [defamatory statement removed]. If one was sent out they should have both been. All the workers we spoke to agreed! Manager told one worker not to "coddle her" (mom) when she was having a bad day and she tried to console her. Do not send your loved one to this facility. I would never recommend this place. We were lied to more times than I can count. And if you want their place cleaned you better do it yourself. Their idea of "light cleaning" is taking out the trash.

Listed as assisted living in website and with commerce board of health! Now they claim they are not but a personal care home and as such do not provide services such as wound care which I was previously told they do provide! Hardly any food choices and food is not good! Services not provided in an expeditious manner! No activity staff or cook! Alway out of food like staples such as bread and milk! No professional oversight, not one person with a license! Why it’s listed everywhere as an assisted living and it’s not is very concerning! Staff are mostly nice and kind to residents but not always available if resident needs immediate care for urgent need like being soaking wet!

We have gone through 3 administrators and my loved one has only been here for a couple of months. There is a lot of staffing turnover which is affecting the quality of care my loved one is receiving. I have reached out to them and have gotten no response. Due to our experience, I would not recommend them to other families looking.

Very unsanitary, strong smell of urine in hallways and all the carpeting was dirty. Was not at all pleased with the staff.

Do NOT put your loved one here! RUN! they have had 4 managers in a year...some nurses are great but they do not make up for the bad management! My loved one is here for now. The place is horrible!

My Aunt is a resident of Brookdale. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone!! We are trying to find a place for my aunt to get her out of there, They charge for everything they do. My aunt smokes and they charge $15.00 just for taking her outside to have a cigarette. The sad thing is, the employees that are taking her out are smoking with her. Also the food is horrible. It was good at one time but lately it is awful!! It never matches the menus and my aunt has lost so much weight in past month. It is horrible. They make medication errors all the time too.
