When I first saw the rooms I was immediately turned off. They feel like a hospital room and a retirement home. This is a brand new facility but it felt so empty and I saw no residents walking around. The rooms are only big enough for a twin bed and one chair. I wouldn’t be able to bring any furniture in if my Mother moved in and it wouldn’t have felt like home. The marketing director was really good and seemed very knowledgeable. I would not recommend this facility to other families.

The person my sister and I were to tour with, [Removed], with was not there. We toured with a Team Lead. Andrew later called and stated he had us down for a different date. We disagree on the scheduled tour date. Even with this issue, the opportunity to for them to make a good impression was lost. Andrew never offered to schedule another date. Though the Lead we toured seemed great, the other employees seemed less than enthusiastic (understatement) during our greetings. There was only one employee that greeted us with an energetic smile. During the tour, the Lead asked an employee to assist a resident with getting ready for bed at the direction of the resident's daughter. The employee tasked with the responsibility never ONCE verbally acknowledged the lead. She eventually slowly (again, an understatement) strolled to the resident's room to assist with an expressionless look her face. In my opinion, she had absolutely no sense of urgency. Additionally, I asked the daughter of this same resident if she was pleased with the care being provided to her mother. Her answer was, after a pause, "We have had some issues. You have to REALLY stay on top of them." My sister and I concluded that this is NOT the place for my father. Andrew did contact me again a few days later to follow up. I did share all of my concerns with him.

I have been using Governors Glen for two years of respite care for my now 90 year old mother in law. Her most recent visit for two weeks was not up to our standards. Her clothes was lost plus other items and she was given a roommate that was not happy with the situation. After we got our Mother home we called and placed a complaint about the lost items, plus that fact she wasn't given breakfast that morning because she didn't want to get out of bed. There was no followup. So I decided to write a letter to the director. The apology came from the director.

Do not recommend anyone's parent for care there. Run away from there as fast as you can. Governors Glen is horrid and should be shut down!!!!It needs to be closed. That placed left my loved one in dried urine and over medicated him.

Don't send your loved ones there. Low staffing, unresponsive staff and leadership. Clothes will be lost and never found. Laundry piles up and the family will need to help with keeping clothes/linen clean. Multiple falls with injuries that included 1 hospitalization and 1 ER visit on a Friday night with a head laceration. No. Please look at other facilities to keep your loved one safe and happy. Momma also experienced bullying by another resident.

Do not go to Governors Glen - ever. My father was left dirty with urine all over him. They doubled his medication to the point that he was almost comatose, which sent him to the ICU within a very short period of time after moving in. In the hospital, he was diagnosed malnourished and dehydrated, with toxic levels of medication in his system. His organs shut down, and he died shortly after that hospital stay. Before entering Governors Glen, he was active, walking miles at a time, and generally healthy.

They were rude. They lied about the issues of my loved one. They tried to isolate me from seeing my loved one. They left her in poop. I had to get the police so I could see my loved one. The wrist of my loved one was broken.

My mother just recently stayed in the skilled care unit after having back surgery. The care was "spotty" to say the least. The rooms are uninviting and cold and do not reflect the thought and design going into the rest of the facility (all for show). Oftentimes, the response time to ringing her button for a pain pill or needing assistance to go to the bathroom (first day after surgery) could be anywhere from 1 - 4 hours later. Several of the nurses, technicians, and interns were blatantly rude and disrespectful to not only her but to family members as well. Mom had to repeatedly asked that she remain in her room to eat and that she needed beverages in a cup with handles. The lack of listening, communicating, or writing down those requests to be shared during shift changes was totally obsolete. It was not until a family meeting was called with the social worker, head of nursing and physical therapy, and the dietician, did a fire get "lit" about her inadequate care. There are other instances that I could share but at this juncture I believe you get my point. I would not recommend this facility to anyone who is thinking about placing a loved one here!

Worst place on the planet....No nursing staff in 2015 alone they went through about 4 to 5 nurses...no one would stay on staff. Staff is unprofessional, Med techs are not bright enough to pass exam. some are not certified to pass medication. Staff took forever to clean my mother and that was because they are always short staff. ED never leaves her office to address concerns. Felt rush when attempted to try and tell them the error in their ways....RUN....
