Beautiful new Facility just built in 2019. Theatre with lounging chairs, state of the art Virtual golf course, Delicious looking, varied menu. Beautiful apartments, but we thought the kitchens were too large. More space could have been given to the living room and bedroom which seemed small.

Everything is brand new. We did hire a personal assistant in addition to the staff and they helped to arrange that. Good communication. They have a lot of activities, my mom enjoys the movies in the theater and went to a sing a long at the Pub. My brother and I have used the golf simulator which was fun. In comparison to other places we looked, the apartments are bigger and nicer then what we had seen. Food is good. We had her 95th Birthday party in their private room. They catered it, we had family and friends, everything was very nice.

Even with the high turnover rates we still had a good experience and the staff that was there did a great job. They all were so friendly and amazing, they get 10 stars. We did not get to experience the meals and dining service ourselves but we do know our loved one was not to fond of the meals and we think it was because they had some service issues. They did always have a great amount of activities offered to the residents.

The meals and dining service was a little confusing at times, but they were understaffed so that could of been way. The meals weren't always on time and due to the restrictions our loved one did not always get to dine with the other residents. However, the activities were great and you did get a lot of services for what you paid for.

The staff is very good about one on one so that no individual ever feels left out or alone. Really, our one concern has been about the state of mind about the other residents. Our mom has dementia but she is friendly and not grumpy. Some of the residents can become angry/violent. Our mom is not that way. That's been a benefit of being there in the early stages of this facility- as they fill it will be harder to provide one on one care.

The hardest part of having my dad at Anthology of Simsbury (in a good way) is locating him when I go there to visit because he is so engaged with the activities, especially the social ones. He thoroughly loves the musical offerings (both live and in the theater); parties, fundraisers for Alzheimer's, movies, socials, educational opportunities, discussion groups, etc. Having been in the hospitality business most of his life, he enjoys sitting outside with friends sharing stories, greeting people as they come through the front doors, and of course, dining experiences with other residents. As his daughter, I enjoy knowing he can be mobile and venture out for ice cream on the Anthology van or other excursions as he wishes; that he has lots of staff aware of him and conversing with him; and that from haircuts to holiday bling, his life is enriched and well even after losing my mom and that gives me peace of mind too.

My only disappointment is that there are fewer independent seniors than I would have liked. But personal interests are encouraged and accommodated when possible. And new friendships are made. I'm glad I made the move.

My mom started going to Anthology for respite care when my husband and I traveled. My mom always looked forward to her stay there with enthusiasm. When it became time for my mom to enter memory care, we knew we could trust the staff to take excellent care of her. She is our most precious commodity. The staff has been wonderful helping us at every step of the journey.

Experience has been good. However being new, they are working out some of the kinks. There are also more charges on some things starting next month.

The staff at Anthology are friendly and exceptionally helpful, however I have gotten the impression that the coordination between staff members is lacking in communication between office personnel. The biggest problem here at Anthology is the food service. In my opinion it would be more cost effective to hire one professional chef than to hire three novices that you think can be trained. Someone who has the experience and expertise of managing a restaurant and staff. Several times Pork Tenderloin is listed on the menu. It is obvious that no one even knows what this cut of meat is, because this isn’t what is being served. Several residents have tried to e helpful with suggestions which apparently fall on deaf ears. We were promised “Gourmet meals” which we are obviously not receiving.

Since this is a brand new facility, just opened in April, 2024, there are only 18 residents in the Independent Living building. With so few residents we are pretty spoiled as far as service levels and many of the amenities. After getting to know the staff and directors, we do not expect the level of service to change as more residents move in. As far as the Assisted Living building, the residents seem very pleased with their helpers, but since we do not live in that building, we cannot speak directly regarding their level of service, etc.

My Mom moved into Anthology [date removed]. The move was seemless and her transition after living by herself for 14 was so nice to see. Everyone on the staff is so nice and they really attend to her every need. She met lots of nice people their. They were very smart in the way they made the facility they put all the money on the inside. The building is well made and the finishes top notch. Lots of activities and things to do. The food is good too. I was able to retire and buy a place at the coast knowing she is well taken care of. She wishes she would have moved 10 years ago.

I'd say it's a fine facility that keeps the residents in good hands. I do think some communications fell through the cracks, though.

I didn't care for Anthology. Although aesthetically pleasing, the atmosphere seemed dreary almost. Figured that maybe the vast majority of residents receive a high level of care. My aunt's not "there" - yet.
